I call dibs.

Valeri, Thrace, Six.  You can't go wrong.  Hell, even the Master Chief's assistant is kinda cute.  So is the XO's assistant.

re: card game with Baltar/Thrace - did anybody notice the facial similarities between Six and Thrace?  I just noticed it when Baltar offered Thrace the cigar...

Remake.  I said "Thrace" so not to get New Starbuck confused with Old Starbuck.

Not a big fan of the old series.

The Cylons were created by Man.

They Rebelled.

They Evolved.

They Look

And Feel

Human.

Some Are Programmed
To Think They Are Human.

There Are Many Copies.

...AND THEY HAVE A PLAN.

Yes, some of the Cylon spaceships and the new version of the robotic Cylon (i.e. the ones that LOOK robotic).

I'm still trying to determine just how human the cylons made to LOOK human, are. Six has stated that she wants to have a baby. If "she" is actually capable of that, then "she" doesn't fit my definition of robot. Actually, robots that appear human are traditionally called androids in the SF community. To be able to procreate with a real human would require such a close organic match to the real thing that Six would have to be, for all intents and purposes, human as far as I'm concerned (whatever her origin). Since they have already presented as fact that multiple copies exist, I conjecture that real human DNA was somehow involved and is used in some advanced form of cloning. OTOH, Six was also capable of surviving a shockwave from a nuclear detonation (epicenter, a few miles away, I think). So "the jury is still out" on how human the android cylons are.

BTW, Six is the lovely "lady" in the red dress, up above.

The Cylon Raider ships have it, as well as the standard Cylon drones that the Human-looking Cylons use as grunt troops.

The Human cylons also have a knight-rider effect, but it's... ahem... when they are in the middle of intimate relations... up and down the spine of their back.  God bless Ron Moore.

Don't overlook Grace Park as Boomer.
BTW, I love how they shed all of the cheese from the original show.

Battlestar Galactica is a sci-fi show.  It's a "re-imagining" of a late 70's American television show.

Long story short: Many years ago, robots called "Cylons" that were created by humans rebelled against Man and a huge war broke out.  Then came peace, and there were 12 colonies of Man.

At the start of this show, the Cylons returned in a massive sneak attack and pretty much wiped out all 12 colonies save for about 50,000 people in a rag-tag fleet of spaceships, centered around the big battlecruiser, the Battlestar Galactica.

They are now on the run, trying to escape the Cylons, trying to find the mythical 13th colony of man across the stars - a colony called...

wait for it...

wait for it....

EARTH.

The NEW Battlestar Galactica removed a lot of the "cheese" factor that the 70's version had, and added 1) better special effects 2) political intrigue and more human conflict/drama 3) tons of sex.

In other words, it's probably the best sci-fi show on television.

It just finished its run on Sky television in the UK, and it's currently in it's first-season on American television.

You mean the series is already finished, and Sci-fi channel is just airing (effectively) reruns?  Or that just the first season is over in the UK?

(the new) Boomer is sexy.  But I'm not sure I like a male Starbuck.  That's my only real complaint.

Anyone remember who played Starbuck's father in the original Battlestar Galactica?

I forget the character's name, but Fred Astaire played the role of Starbuck's father in the original series. And I do strongly agree about Maren Jensen.

Wait, what?  Adama and Apollo were father and son on both series, old and new.

As for the UK/US tv question...

The UK just finished airing the first season/series of the New BSG.

In the United States, it's only halfway through the first season/series.

BSG was just renewed for a second season.

bwaaaahhh!

By my command...This thread needs more Jane Seymore, more Dirk Bennedict, and a hell of a lot of more Lorne Greene (and possibly some sort of robot-monkey-dog).
Mary McDonnell is hot though; for an old lady. If there ever is a "Women of Independence Day" thread, I'd deposit a morph of 'the first lady' there.

bwaaaahhh!

Damn it! You had to go and ruin it! We had a perfectly good morphless morph request thread going strong for nearly two years and you just HAD to drop in that superb morph of "not a real cylon because real cylons are shiny and made of metal" girl.

Anyhow, back to my new Battlestar hating. Battlestar Galactica was a great fun show that they decided to take all the fun out of. And not in the way that Galactica 1980 took the fun out by simply sucking, they took the fun out of it in far worse ways. It's basically like the time they tried to make the Brady Bunch into a serious drama.

And now to keep this on topic... I request that someone morph a picture of Lorne Green punching Edward James Olmos in the face, as a busty Jane Seymore and Mary McDonell watch on in delight.
