Interesting. I never really thought of it as aphasia before.

So Big Boobalicious, I take it that you are completely able to write (even though speech is challenging for you)?

And did it affect your written English language skills, too?

-translating with the help of Google-

Interessante. Ich habe nie wirklich darüber nachgedacht, wie Aphasie vor.

So Big Boobalicious, nehme ich es, dass Sie vollständig in der Lage sind zu schreiben (obwohl Rede ist für Sie schwierig)?

Und hat es Einfluss auf Ihre schriftliche Kenntnisse der englischen Sprache auch?

I'm sure your attempts at writing in German will cheer her up, which is, albeit unintentionally, a good thing. Wink

Sorry... I dont want to sound rude... But this is a shame! -.-*
As Im learning a medical Job now... im ashamed, seeing such a thing.
An Apoplex isnt a nice thing, especially for the poor human beings which are suffering from it. I do had to work with a
few patients which are suffering from an Apoplex and the results of it like Aphasia or Hemiparesis. Most of the guys know here... that im a
close friend to BB, but this is just making me aggressive. Seriously... An Aphasia patient isnt really able to "copy-paste" the same sentence over and over again or work on a Keyboard.

So guys and girls
Let her recover from her "Aphasia"

Greetings...
the bad girl

Well I know from past linguistics studies that aphasia is the ability to communicate by the written/printed word, but unable to speak (and going from memory, I thought it included the inability to understand the spoken word - too lazy to google that at the moment).

Using translate.google.com and knowing that BB is from Germany and presuming that any friend of hers is also German, we plug in Apoplex and get out 'stroke'.

According to Wikipedia, Hemiparesis is weakness on one side of the body. It is less severe than hemiplegia - the total paralysis of the arm, leg, and trunk on one side of the body.

This is all in reference to BB's stroke, of course.

So in short, I think janeen is accusing someone (everyone?) of being an insensitive clod.

I got that but  now after reading her latest post I'm guessing she is also saying that BB's condition isn't real and that she's faking it. I'm not an expert in medicine so I can't say anything on that subject. I do tend to give people the benefit of the doubt though. Is it possible that there are varying degrees of Aphasia. Also, no one has confirmed when it exactly happened so is it possible she might have partially recovered from it by now? Again, just asking.

Ah.

Well again, I cite prior linguistics studies. Aphasia doesn't mean "incapable of linguistic communication", it means the person is incapable of speaking, but still quite capable of writing.

As for stroke, strokes don't always happen in the speech center, which is mainly located on the left side of the head (curiously close to the ear).

Based on very distant memory, of course.

Anyway, if this thread is going to devolve into a thread of trying to prove the veracity of a claim which, quite frankly, makes no difference in my life, then I guess I'm done contributing to it.

P.S. If you use translation engines, keep your sentences easy. Try to deconstruct complex thoughts into very basic descriptions, because at the possibility of sounding unrefined it will be at least be somewhat precise.
