Another random thought regarding relationships just came to me on reading your post, Antoinette.  A friend of mine recently mentioned it to me; it had been mentioned to him through a mutual acquaintance, and he's been going through his own relationship woes of late:

The one you can't live without is what gets you into trouble. Too much being based on someone else making you happy. i.e., "If she leaves, I'll just die."

I can see that perception.  Certainly there are lots of clingy people out there.

But the way I read "Be with the one you can live with" is more about tolerance.  And pain thresholds, for that matter.

For example, I can live with my sister.  If I have to.  I guess.  But do I want to?  NO.

I could live with a roommate.  I suppose.  If they're not too irritating.  But do I want to?  NO.

Put another way:  in order to be able to live with someone, your tolerance for BS need only be marginally higher than their ability to output BS.

Put yet another way:

"Be with the one you can live with" == "You'll do until I can get myself into a better situation"

"Be with the one you can't live without" == "This is absolutely the best it gets, bar none"

And I know this is self-defeatist thinking.  But it is what it is.

My guy and I went to the mall this morning to do a little shopping and I wore a pretty conservative looking shirt (in the attachment), it was tight but not low cut. There were about 4 guys who were sitting down in one part of the mall and everytime we passed by them, they'd stare, whip out their cell phones and point them at me (either taking pix or recording me). After every store we came out of, they were there, sitting down in front of the store and staring like crazy once we left the store. Well, my guy didn't notice them at first but after awhile he did and got really pissed. He knew they were following us, so he started walking towards them, about to say something to them but I stopped him and we just left the mall at that point.

The day before that incident, my friend and I were in a tattoo & body piercing place and there was a group that was together in there. From the moment we walked in, all eyes turned on me. There were 2 chicks in the group that turned to me and then turned back really quick and started laughing, then they poked at their b/f's, whispered in their ears and started whispering amongst theirselves and laughing. Well at this point, I was really heated because it was just so juvenile....grown ass women laughing and whispering like teenagers. So I started walking up to them to tell them off but my friend walked up and started cussing them all out!! She was PISSED! I didn't realize she was getting so mad about it. But she was. After she said her little piece to the assholes, they all turned away, didn't say or look at me again and abruptly left the shop! My friend was like 'man I hate bitches' LOL.

It never fails....every week, almost everyday, it's the same old thing....stupid people making stupid comments about my boobs....to the point of it being crude. A friend said to me one time 'hanging out with you, you HAVE to know how to fight' lol...I guess just because SO many people are always talking shit when they see me. I've actually had a chick pour her drink all over me at a club because HER b/f was checking ME out!! I got into a fight with her after that.....but crazy stuff like that happens to me all the time . And these crazy people are ADULTS!! I think as people get older, they get even dumber, not wiser. At least the assholes I'm in contact with on a daily basis.

O.k. i had to log in for this one. My man speaks the truth. He and I went out to the club last night and I was dressed as provocatively as I can, you might even say "walking bimbo-doll" he he, and of course I had guys hitting on me and staring the whole night.

But Derf played it cool the whole way. Just sitting back and listening to these guys try to spit their 'game' and I heard him snicker to himself from time to time when the guys said something really lame. But he allowed me to meet people (we're not swingers, btw) and if he thought someone was cool he would introduce himself and I would chime in that he is in fact my S/O and the guys would either hang around to talk and gawk or would simply move on. He's proud of my sex appeal and he's told me he knows I'm not going anywhere and if I did it wouldn't be his fault, just that he isn't what I'm looking for anymore. Just having that mind set keeps a lot of jealousy bullshit out of the picture and we can go out and have fun and he can show me off and I can show off for him. Which is GREAT because he wants to be all over me but he can't 'cause we're in public, but when we get home... We've been together 6 years now and every date is like our first. I know, sounds like you grandmother...lol.

I could imagine your guy is the stand by your side all night  never more than 5 inches away at all times type? I really do feel for the insecure guys. The best has to be when you got the drink dumped on you.  No, I'm not partaking in any sort of Schadenfreude for your unfortunate chilly wetness, but am simply stunned and amazed that the bitch, in her twisted logic, saw fit to attack you, when it was her boyfriend's reaction she didn't like.  Judge Judy would have had a heyday with her.  Err, till you pounced her, that is.    I guess nobody ever told her, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!"
