One week of treatment left. Radiation has gone better than expected -- chemo has gone much worse than expected. Just looking forward to getting back to "normal" at this point. No "pity titty" so far... but the clock hasn't run out yet.  |

Results-wise their guess is that it's working as planned -- no comprehensive tests will be done until after treatment, but the bleeding stopped right when they said it would. They seemed pretty happy about that and took it as a sign that it's working. Tolerance-wise, it hasn't been nearly as nasty as I was led to expect. They warned me that this would be a rough week, and I'm barely noticing any discomfort from the radiation. I think the chemo might be making me horny... whether or not I report that depends on which nurse asks about my symptoms. I'm convinced that Nancy needs to know about it... Janet, not so much. |

By all means, Nancy needs full disclosure. Gawd... then the theater of the mind kicks in... Nancy: "Anything unusual this week?" Espy: "Yeah..." ::zzzip:: "What do you make of THIS?!?!??" Cue Music: "Chicka chicka bow wow" Actually, to be fair Nancy is a sweetheart -- 150%. She helps when I'm getting chemo, and that lasts about 6-7 hours. She's quick to provide a warm blanket... something to eat or drink... or just talk for a while. She holds my hand... jokes... prays... offers concern. Two weeks ago I almost died -- she told me last week just how close I came to checking out. She was really upset about it -- moreso than I was. I guess I didn't really know how bad things were at the time... but she did. She's been a gem... and I feel mostly guilty about even suggesting anything beyond honest appreciation. Mostly. The rest I'll blame on the chemo. |

I had my last radiation treatment today. No more trips to the cancer clinic. Now I just have to shake off the effects of the radiation and chemo -- they said expect it to get worse for a couple of weeks and then fade. This last weekend was the worst... I hope it doesn't go too far downhill from there.
I have a great network of friends and family checking in with me. It's making all the difference. I'm trying to decide how I'm going to show my appreciation when this is all over.

As of this morning, my hair is falling out. I figured I may have dodged that bullet since my chemo ended a couple of weeks ago. Maybe this is karma for being a meanie. Hang in there Espy! I too, thought I was going to dodge that bullet and then my hair fell out too. Luckily I always kept it buzzed anyway so I really didn't look much different. I was fortunate enough to not loose my eyebrows. Look on the bright side, shaving sucks and you won't have to worry about that for a while!

I'm in a holding pattern right now. My chemo and radiation treatments have ended and I'm recovering from that in anticipation of surgery in November. Right now I'm back at work full time and feeling pretty good. Pretty low on strength and stamina, but it beats the fog and nausea related to chemo. |

Ugh. Had some lab work done and my PSA has jumped from around 2.00 to 7.15. The doc said he doesn't know if this is an expected result of the radiation I just had in that region. The radiation oncologist had mentioned once that the tumor had gone through the wall of my colon and towards the prostate, but they couldn't determine if it had infiltrated the prostate or not.
So I'm getting shipped off to a specialist for more testing. That probably means those nasty biopsies Prinz has been describing. Happy happy joy joy.

Bend over my friend here it comes! I should know the results of my lastest test this week...It was just a pee in the cup and look for bad cells as they have stabbed me on three diffrent occasions with negative result my psa is dropping was 7.6 six months ago now 4.1.. Im told this is good.. |
