"Glaucoma is a condition of increased fluid pressure inside the eye. The increased pressure causes compression of the retina and the optic nerve which can eventually lead to nerve damage. Glaucoma can cause partial vision loss, with blindness as a possible eventual outcome."

Well, only in my left eye so far.  Shocked

My eye Dr. feels she caught it in time though, but only time will tell.  Undecided

The first thought that came to my mind was "medicinal marijuana"!  Grin

Just think.... I can get high legally!  Lips sealed

Unfortunately the Veterans Administration does not perscribe this treatment. I think I need a new doctor!  Angry

I do need a new perscription for glasses too.

So other than diabetes, sleep apnea, chronic depression and ptsd I am in great shape!

Hey.... Round is a shape!  Grin

Hi Z,

If caught early, it's generally treatable... it's different than macular degeneration. Even if there are no legal dispensaries where you live (is it FLA?) you can get a prescription from a non-VA Doctor... of course, that doesn't solve the challenge of actually obtaining MM, but at least having a 'scrip will give you a little legal backup just in case you get busted. Shame you're not here... you can walk in to a dispensary, pay a consulting fee for a 'scrip and then fill it on the spot. I'm not advocating recreational use of M, but I'm certainly not opposed to it for valid medical purposes, even if the line between the two is somewhat fuzzy. Best of luck with treatment.

I was just thinking, Pal, I know nothing about the legality of having a dealer druggist in a West Coast state fill a prescription and ship the product...

Well Zorro, I too suffer from an eye ailment. It's called Leber's heredetary optic neurotrophy. It is a slow but constant deterioration of the optic nerve. Usually it impacts those of nothern european stock ( my mother is of german descent ) and almost exclusively males ( girls have XX chromosomes, men are XY ) and usually starts when they are in their twenties. It does jump generations and women carry the defective gene. Best way to describe it is by thinking of the optic nerve as a rope attached to the eye and the brain. Now suppose the threads of that rope are splitting apart. Eventually the rope fails and becomes useless. The brain is OK and the eye is OK but the connecting cord is cut so the eye becomes useless. It was diagnosed by two optoneurologists about 6 years ago. I've already lost some of my lateral vision especially on the left eye. I use Alphagen drops. It is usually for glaucoma but it helps to slow, but not cure, the disease. I have no idea when I won't be able to see anymore. At the rate of deteoration the docs say perhaps 15 - 20 years optimisticaly. So we should wish ourselves good luck and hopefully technology may come to the rescue.

I dunno about the filling of the prescription, but I'm pretty sure the shipping of the MM across state lines would itself pose a problem.

I had a follow up appointment with the eye babe. Did I forget to mention she is hot!

Well they had me do the test where the little pinpoints of light happen while you stare at one in the center of the contraption.

After that I went back to the exam room so the Dr. could tell me how good everything looks and that I also have cataracts in the same eye.

How nice.

Here's a morph to make me feel better.  Wink

Zorro, cataract removal is no big deal. Five years ago I had one removed in my left eye and it took the doc 20 minutes to do. No anestesia required ( at least for me ) and within two days it was like nothing happened except I could see clearly out of the eye again. I have three other cataracts but they are off to the side in both eyes so they don't interfere. Funny how life is. When I joined the Navy at the AFEE ( Armed Forces Entrance Examination ) they made me read the eye chart and being in a smart ass mood at the time ( which didn't last long ) I read the small print at the very bottom that said " Made In USA " , " Printed by MC Nally press at Waltham, Mass " , etc , etc. In the last 35 years I've gone from fighter pilot eyes to old goat eyes  Cry Sad.

Well it's been almost a year since my last eye exam.

The lights are still on though, just a tad blurry in the left eye still.

I read Goober's thread about his dental issues and I totally agree with what Subgirlie wrote about it.

As a teenager, I took lousy care of my teeth and had to have 3 pulled during my junior year in high school.

This was my "wake the hell up dumbass" call!

I took better care of them after that and in the last 41 years have not had any more pulled. I have had 2 root canals done though, but the rest seem to be doing fine so far.

Getting back to the eyesight thing, so far it hasn't impacted my morphing!
