Hey everyone . Just thought I would post here for a little support and if you guys would lend me your ears and prayers, but my daddy is in the hospital again. They found a mass on top of his lungs and he'd been having trouble breathing for almost two months now. We're really really hoping and praying that it isn't cancer (it would be his second bout with cancer). I'm a bit of an emotional wreck lately so any support and prayers would really help out ^_^

Well the good news is he's out of the hospital and breathing better now, but we wont be able to know if it's actually cancer or not until later in the week *Edit* It's confirmed, it is lung cancer. The doctor said though that we have 3 options: surgery, chemo, radiation, or a mix of all three. At this point we're hoping that it's a stage-1 cancer and we can just go through one surgery and have it removed in its entirety. The good news is that he's doing pretty well and he has a great team of doctors behind him, all of which will be there with us at his surgery

The good news is that he's doing pretty well and he has a great team of doctors behind him, all of which will be there with us at his surgery I'm wishing you and your daddy the best. When my mother's lung cancer was found it was already a stage 4 and surgery and radiation was out of the question. She had chemo treatments for almost three years, even though the Doctor told me she wouldn't last a year, and she was almost 78 when found. She was somewhat stuborn. So, from what I know about your daddy, optimism is in order. Having said that and hoping I don't sound terrible saying it, get your father's affairs in order just in case. If you don't need it now fine but the one thing about life you can depend on is its unpredictibility. Peace of mind can be therupetic for all involved. Best of luck and vaya con Dios.

Well.. the bad news is yesterday the doctors found another mass below the primary one in his right lung. This immediately put him as stage-4. The good news though is because of this they're going to start treatment tonight and as I write this he's going through a 4 hour Chemotherapy treatment. Hoping for the best, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried and scared..

This may not be something you want to do, but my father went through something similar and had good periods and bad periods, and he and I talked a lot about what his thoughts and wishes were for a year or so. When the time came to make medical decisions for him, I knew what to do. We never had one of those "if I'm dying" talks; just some talks about how he felt about things. Otherwise I never would have known that he had a very strong opposition to kidney dialysis.
