I don't really like short hair on women, myself included (i'd actually have to trim my bangs to have hair like my avatar's)
I've seen short hair turn out well, style-wise, but I tend to think that's the exception, not the rule.
I may be biased though, I remember being told how much 'easier' it was to have short hair, and being encouraged in that direction, and told that I'd eventually give up on trying to have long luxurious hair... But I respond poorly to pressure. Pushing a bad kitty is just a good way to lose a finger. But even setting personality fault-virtues aside, I've never been even slightly tempted to have short hair.
