OMG! It's like they were separated at birth like the Corsican Brothers. Yet unlike those brothers I doubt either one has ever felt what the other experienced.

Continuing on the Trump theme; I loved the take Dave Letterman (at least I think it was old Dave) had on Trump's press conference after the Pres released his long form birth certificate. Dave prefaced it by saying something to the effect that "some of Trump's closest supporters are now attacking him" and to prove it he showed this video clip. As Trump was egotisticalLEE crowing ... err, speaking about how he made this all happen, his hair (or the creature who is passing itself off as his hair ) crawled down and went in to his the Donald's fat mouth to shut him up, and ended up strangling him as he collapsed behind the speaker podium. Seeing that I was left laughing my head off, saying, "In only..." Sam " who readiLEE admits he has never seen the Apprentice, Celebrity(?) version or regular and proud of it" V

From Andy Borowitz: Trump Dogged By Rumors His Hair is Not From U.S.In a piece of good news for Mr. Trump, a new poll showed a majority of likely voters agreeing with the statement, “Donald Trump being sworn in as President would be a great last scene in a Planet of the Apes remake.”

Since both Donald Chump and Sarah Palin pretend to be politicians on TV, I believe this video belongs in this thread: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, June 1, 2011: "Me Lover's Pizza with Crazy Broad"

The Weiner thing is just weird. For forty years I represented sex offenders of various kinds in my work. I understand flashers, because there have been plenty of studies done of them; but guys like Weiner don't seem to have any of the issues of flashers (insecurity, social aversion, etc.) I tried to figure it out when I had a client twenty years ago who had gone to a swap-meet and handed to the 16-year-old girl collecting admission a Polaroid snapshot of an erect penis. She happened to be the daughter of the chief detective of a local sex crimes unit. I talked with the guy for several hours over the course of a week, trying to figure what he was getting out of the activity. He could see absolutely nothing wrong with what he did; he saw it as the equivalent of an icebreaker, like asking if he hadn't met her somewhere before. I managed to persuade the assigned prosecutor that what he had done was not covered by the statute he was charged under, though the next session the legislature invented the crime of "luring". In any case, Weiner needs to do some introspection and needs to spend some time with a psychologist. That stuff really is kinky. Or maybe I'm just too old; is this how young folks hook up these days?

That's the thing though; as Stephen Colbert alluded, Weiner didn't sext these women so that they could go and have sex (unlike fellow NY congressman Lee of Craigslist fame). He just...did it.

I know. That is the weirdest part. I think that over the weekend he talked to somebody who knows how to handle disasters, and did the rest of it right: No adoring wife; lots of regret to his constituents; no "checking into rehab" bullshit (a la Tiger Woods). Breitbart made a total ass of himself, to boot.

More and more I wonder if issues of sex are really issues of youth. Our civilization used to place a premium on age, on wisdom and experience and all that, but no more. Now we're killing ourselves to look young, act young, sound young, feel young. The most extreme version is what Chris Hansen regularly tracks down, and it blows my mind that there's really a whole subculture of men for whom the females simply can't be young enough. It's huge and it really needs to be accounted for -- police looked up my neighbor across the hall from me for kiddie porn and another neighbor had him kicked out. But more on this topic, I think of a Weiner or a Spitzer, and on some irrational level they may feel, I've been a reasonably good boy all this time, fulfilling the right forms, fighting the good fight -- when do I get to cut loose like everyone else seems to? There's something frantic in this, as if they're desperate not to miss out on something, or perhaps even to vindicate some poverty of the past.
Such thoughts cross my mind as I consider my own vague once-in-a-great-while relationship with a hot woman half my age. It's consensual, mature, sweet, all that -- but for the life of me I don't really see it going anywhere. If this happened to me as a married man, would I seriously turn it down? I like to think I'd be sensible enough, but I really don't know. Men can be peculiarly vulnerable like this. Rielle Hunter tells John Edwards he's hot and boom, he's thrown off balance. (Not that Edwards matters so much, years ago I saw him talk to Charlie Rose and I finally figured out that the man was an empty mask.)
But Bio is right, this is a hell of an assumption to make about what constitutes an icebreaker. Trouble is, this has been going on forever. One politician once walked right up to Shirley Temple (Black by then, I suppose) and told her for the longest time he had wanted to fuck her. She was not pleased. (Hell, I even think of Q_BE chatting up Rachel Aldana by offering to suck her nipples.)
Now, this business with Weiner and Ginger Lee, that's a little more typical.

The universal question to ask when you see the man in question and then see his wife (Huma Abedin): why on earth would he risk losing that?

Strangely enough, mental health professionals are working on an answer. The American Psychiatric Association will soon publish DSM-V (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Fifth Edition). One of the proposed changes, though I don't know whether the committee in charge made the change, is the addition of "self-destructive personality disorder". Personality disorders are probably the most controversial set of mental illnesses, and the APA has been shy about defining new ones since 1985 or so. Weiner is not really a good example; one of the classic examples was a lawyer of my acquanitance who rose, literally, to the presidency of the state bar association. This was unusual for a family (divorce) lawyer. He had, in fact, written "the book" about divorces in our state, which included, in the "ethics" section a very strong condemnation of having any kind of relationship with a client, and never-ever-ever to sleep with clients. In the late 1990s it came to light that while he was state bar president, he took to administering a brief psychological test to new clients which, among other things, revealed sexual vulnerability, and he had taken to maintaining a small harem of women including one whom he enjoyed screwing in various semi-public places in the local county courthouse. The irony was, as near as the evidence indicated, he never had an affair with a non-client.

^ Perhaps a perfect example for that old saw: " Do as I say, not as I do." As for the situation with the Congressman it might be construed the explanation for his behavior was a wholesale attempt on his part to live up to his name.
