Jessikka's Guide on Nipples through clothes

In this tutorial, I will show you one technique to add hard nipples visible through clothes (aka "pokies").

This tutorial assumes that you have a basic knowledge of Photoshop.

While this tutorial is written for Photoshop, it should be possible to use it in other image editor, like Gimp.

Step 1
Load your picture in Photoshop.  Apply any modifications or color correction that you want. In this tutorial, I will use a picture of the lovely Fergie.

Step 2
Create a new empty layer.  Use the button shown in the following image, or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N.

Step 3
Select the Brush tool.  
Adjust the hardness of the brush to 0%.

Step 4
Make sure that the new empty layer is selected.
Find the approximate position of the nipple in your image.
Using the brush, draw a single circle where the nipple would be.  The dimension of the circle should be larger than the nipple, but don't worry too much about it, because we will have to tweak it later.
The color of the circle has no importance at all.

Step 5
Change the Fill value to 0%.

Step 6
Create a Layer Style of type Bevel and Emboss.

Step 7
Adjust the settings of the Bevel and Emboss:

• Use the Depth and Size to create bigger or smaller nipples.
• Use the Altitude and Angle to match the direction of the light in your original image.
• For the color of your Highlight, use the color picker and choose the brightest part of the cloth.  In my example, it is marked by the white arrow.
• For the color of your Shadow, use the color picker and choose the darkest part of the cloth.  In my example, it is marked by the black arrow.
• Adjust the opacity of the Highlight and Shadow.

Step 8 (iteration)
Now, you may find that the size or position of your nipple is not correct.
Simply erase the circle that you have created at step 4 and redraw it at a different position, or with a smaller or larger brush. 
The Smudge tool can also be useful here to adjust the shape of the nipple.
Repeat this step and the step 7 until you are satisfied with the result.

Step 9 (optional)
When you are satisfied with the shape, position and dimension of the nipple, you may wish do modify the fabric of the cloth to give it a stretched look.
With the selection tool, select an area that cover the nipple.

Step 10 (optional)
Then, use the Pinch filter (Filter > Distort > Pinch) with a negative value to stretch the cloth.  Don't use a value too high.

Step 11
Repeat for the second nipple.

Tips

• Sometime, if both nipples are lit by the same light, you can do both of them at the same time.  Just draw 2 circles at the step 4.
• If the nipples are not "pointing" straight at you, you may need to use the Perspective transform tool at step 4 to change the shape of the circle, so it looks distorted by the perspective.
• Not all fabric create the same type of "pokie".  Very tight cloth will create nipples with hard edge and potentially hard shadows.  Soft cloth will create subtler nipples with softer shadows.
• The Dodge tool and Burn tool can be used to adjust the highlight and shadow of the nipple.
