I've build myself a nice little computer . Here are the specs: CPU: i73960X CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 RAM:64GB (2x Vengeance® 32GB Quad Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (CMZ32GX3M4X1866C10)) Mainboard: asus sabertooth X79 SSD: OCZ RevoDrive 3 X2 240GB HDD: Western Digital RE3 WD1002FBYS 1TB Graphic card: Palit geforce gtx580 3GB BLU-RAY burner: Pioneer BDR-205 The hardest part to believe is that this CPU "only" scores 7.8 out of 7.9 B"and now the tedious work of installing all the sofware"acE

@ Tenshi yes I'm dutch The picture was just to show the windows 7 experience index numbers. Well it was pricey, 4000 ish euros ($5000). But I bought some parts over the last year and I've been saving up for the rest. @ TheZookie007 Technically that would be ESA . The 64gig was a last moment decision (money wise), but this rig was put together for fast 3D rendering (Poser pro 2012). @ Bad Kitty Thank you. I'd rather play with boobies, but since I have none at my disposal, this will have to do . This is a big step up from my 5 year old computer. Athlon 64 x2 6000+ 8gig ddr2 800mhz palit gt240 1GB gddr3 B"hope to produce some nice renders soon"acE.

32GB should have sufficed, but the cpu cooler overhangs a few of the dimm slots and my budget allowed it. So I maxed out the RAM. This system should run everything beautifully, the graphics card was chosen for it's CUDA cores, which some 3D and video conversion programs support. A lot of todays super computers use these sort of cores for their calculating power.
So this is sort of my own personal super computer, which should keep me happy for the greater part of the next decade.

damn son, overclock that CPU so it gets a 7.9, Don't leave us hanging now I have to dig into that. Default(@4.3GHz) overclocking only raises the turboboost, which has no effect on the experience index. B"believe me I tried, damn 7.8"acE

Why only a 1TB hard drive? I had a 1.5TB drive from last year, which I recently replaced with 3TB.

I bought this server class harddisc over a year ago, and it's only 2/3 full. Besides I currently only use 3 of the 8 onboard sata connectors, so if needed I can add 5 more harddrives.
For everyone who's interested here is a picture from the inside before I installed the case fans
B"still have to look into overclocking"acE
