Title: Stretcherr RIP
Post by: Stretcherr on April 30, 2006, 08:57:37 AM
My name is Marc, and I have been Stretcherr's buddy since highschool. Last night while trying to chase some drug dealers away from the front of his theater, he was hit by a stray bullet during a drive by shooting.

He didn't make it. I've been online all night posting notices when I came across this website. I'm sure he would have wanted you all to know, he loved posting pics here, and from all he showed me, he was pretty good at it.

Jim was a great guy and I will miss him.

That fucking piss me off!!! and sad!!
His disdain for bickering and racial slur got my respect. He was a soldier to the end, trying to right what was wrong. He had balls to speak his mind, but always wishing for the well being of all others. It enrages me that he didn't die old and spread his love to the younger generation. Just not enough of his kind in this world.

Thank you Marc for letting the BEA Forum know of this loss. You are a good friend to have spent the time to let what are essentially strangers to you in on this sad news.

Jim shall be remembered by his 1400+ posts and by the work he shared. He was a prolific poster and obviously had an enthusiasm for his craft.

I raise a final toast to your creative friend and confide his life to history...

I wonder if the EMTs put Stretcherr on a stretcher?  Yes gallows humor, by I need a smile right now...'cause it all hurts too much.

I never really spoke to Stretcher, but always looked forward to his morphs. I know I'm not a big poster on this site, but I have seen his posts on Expansion Mansion and have praised his works.

I'm going to go out on a limb... Something here doesn’t make sense. In the, Site forum, there is a post about someone stealing passwords. Stretch’s last post was 3pm 042906.

I'm going to call BS...

Sorry folks, I'm not thinking coherently here.  I was recently thinking about one day bringing cherri to San Fran and was hoping to ask Stretcherr if he wanted to meet up.

Don't think cherri's seen this thread yet.  Gonna give her a call now (I got into NYC about 6 hours ago) and break the news.

You and me both.  I've found the same things you have.  The most recent shooting fatality was yesterday afternoon at 4:19 p.m., but that was way after the first post in this thread.

Does anyone know that Stretcherr was really from San Francisco?  I've noticed on more than one occasion a person lists one location in their profile, but then when you read their posts, they mention living in a different locale...

There were several shootings ... just not all reported by the same press ...  The 4:19 pm shooting was of a 19-year old man.  Stretcher mentions he is 40 in his yahoo profile (that is if we trust that).  Later in the same article (7:15 pm) a 17 year old male was shot.

At 11:50 pm a man was shot by the zoo.  No information about the victim is given.

Yesterday I had seen another article about 3 people shot in two seperate incidents, 2 girls in one, and in another a 40-year old hispanic gentleman (whose name was not Jim), but they didn't appear to be fatal.  That article is no longer findable.  All 6 of the above shootings happened on the same day .. Saturday.

So, I'm not sure if we will find an article.  Most news agencies don't appear to cover shootings (or if they do, they only list one and ignore the rest), and they seem to be fairly frequent.

I have to say, the more I think about it the more bogus it sounds. I hope I am right.  He went out to run off drug dealers? Wouldn't a call to the police be safer?  He was hit by a stray bullet?  So he went out to run them off, and a gun battle erupted, coincidentally striking him?  Stray bullet shootings make the news.  No sign of it? No follow up by his "friend?"  It is not adding up, and I hope I am right that this is a hoax.

Found the article of the three people who were shot, but are ok..

In other news, Thursday, a man was shot in front of a community center.  He had a felony, so there is extra newsage on him.

This is not an attempt to trivialize this event, but just to point out how difficult it is to find information on a regular occurance when there is too little information to begin with.

Anyone interested in doing there own search, may want to start here

I will look more later

Post by: MunchWolf on May 01, 2006, 07:35:09 PM
So I haven't found any more news online, but I've been thinking, and am in a quandry.

Stretcherr never shared his name on here.  The only reason I know his name was Jim is Marc posted it in the first post (plus it's been independantly verified by a member here who was going to mail him something ... that member also verified he lived in San Fran, near a theater, which we knew from the first post.)

So the question is, since he didn't choose to share with us that personal information, should we really be trying to hunt it down?  Privacy is one of the cornerstones of this site.  It's even in the rules:

Quote:

 SOME prohibited actions include:

* The request for or sharing of any information that is intended to identify any user, model, or other person - except for data that those users/models themselves have freely made public. We all depend on our anonymity here and privacy will be respected.

So while I am saddened by his parting, and I understand there are those here who are skeptical, I am only saying I will not be trying to seek more information on this event.  If Stretcherr is alive and well, and chooses to post again in the future, I will welcome that occasion, but until then I will accept this news as it is, and mourn our loss.

I never really understand the 'need' to disprove something like a notice of someone's death. We saw this just a few weeks ago when a well known model passed and suddenly everyone wanted to know the gory details. How many notices like this are posted and proven to be false? Not many I suspect.

aside from a loss, it pisses me off that it was an action of someone taking the life of another. Violence begets violence. But in Jim case it was on the behalf of protecting his neighborhood, his life, his mode of making a wage. Perhaps he went out after them in the street. I was lucky to learn about the danger of drug peddler from my days in Hawaii, I came from a small town and didn't know, but learn to keep your nose clean and let the police handle these type of situation. I've been reading this thread since it started and I'm still speechless.  I can remember when he first started posting here, he was so eager and it was a joy watching his skills develop over time.  He was a gentleman, a man who would not be slotted into some pre-defined category and I have no hesitation in saying that he was a corner stone of this community.

He was kind and courteous, never spewing random insults, he always knew what he was talking about, never going beyond his means, except when it came to morphing where he would always push his abilities to the limits and beyond.

I can only hope that I become half the man he was.  I will miss him, his morphs and his wit.

Farewell Stretcherr, may you find happiness where ever you are.

I completely agree with Munch. (If it were me, I wouldn't want people here trying to figure out my particulars...)

Stretcher hasn't been posting... if that continues, we'll know the story, sadly, is true.

My condolences to anyone who suffers from this loss.

Stretcherr was a cool dude. He was one of the few people on this board i felt was a friend. I am speechless. Wish I knew who he actually was. He was probably a pretty awesome dude in RL.

I really didnt know the guy on a personal level - but I admired his work as a morpher and respected his stature here at the BEA.

He seemed to be able to discuss all the hot-point issues fairly, judiciously, and most of the time he kept his own shields up. Not to ward off flames directed at him, but to keep his own replies temperate.

Its not like he attracted fiery responses, instead he was more apt to help put out the fires when the BEA erupted.

I think he was one of the most intrinsically valuable people around this site. He contributed to our visual delights, he contributed to our community by offering harmony instead of a hammer, and his eloquence was not made up of fancy words but by forthrightness and directness.

He shall be missed.

I never really understand the 'need' to disprove something like a notice of someone's death. We saw this just a few weeks ago when a well known model passed and suddenly everyone wanted to know the gory details. How many notices like this are posted and proven to be false? Not many I suspect.

I think there are a few reasons why we wanted more information on this death notice.

1. How many of your friends know your username and password here?

2. No mention of an innocent guy being shot by a "stray bullet" while trying to run off gang bangers in the media.

3. The original poster posts this news at a big boob forum, the day after his alleged death.

4. The original poster has not come back to give us any more information after the first post (as far as I know, haven't read all posts).

5. We all want it not to be true. If it was not true, we would all feel better.

1. I can only hope that this is some sort of prank
2. if so then the real Strecher needs to speak up.
3. As for the password issue, If remember me was checked then you wouldn't need to re-enter it.
4 If this is not a prank then my apologies to Strecher, his friends, and family. Bea moderators then need to find the sick bastard using a deceased account and BAN HIM FOR LIFE.

Suggestion noted. I think we'll leave it open for the time being... so that folks can express their feelings in the matter. I assume that if people wish to continue to attempt to verify this, that they'll be careful not to post any specific RL ID info about our friend.

At some point, I think we'll set up a specific place on the forum for these sad sorts of things... a place set aside for folks to remember/share feelings about members of our community no longer with us.

Thanks for pointing out how crappy my memory has become Morphermor.

It would be good if we could manage to place links TO the relevant forum threads INSIDE the memorial main page, and then eventually unpin the threads themselves. In this way, users visiting the memorial could still offer their comments (in threads/as a 'guestbook') without having to hunt for the threads themselves.

Of course, I'd also like to see a link TO the memorial from a prominent place in the General Forum itself so that folks can find IT... I'm putting a link to it in the BEA forum FAQ thread right now as a temp measure... we'll do better later. I also think it would also be appropriate to include pointers to threads about the passsing of non-users notable to our community (Russ Meyer, individual models, etc...).

In any case, we'll let things stay as they are for a bit and then I'll get in touch and ask him to have the sysadmin add the links (to threads) for Zasha and Stretcherr to the Memorial page (or does someone OTHER than site admin maintain the memorial page? ...is it you Morphermor? ...if so, please let me know).

Thanks again Morphermor for reminding me.

IMO this is not a hoax. We're lucky we got any information at all. I mean if you lost one of your best friends I doubt posting on a porn site is going to be a very high priority.

Like I said this is the second time something like this has happened and the other time it was one post then that was it.

Also someone was brutily murdered less then a block away from where I live. The only reason I heard anything about it was the cops had come in questioning people. It never made the news ever. i looked quite  abit too. Just saying that the news doesn't report everything.

Wow...  I can't believe how long I've been gone... only to come back to something like this....

I can't really say that I knew Stretcherr that well.  I can only assume that he got going as a morph shortly after or right before I left.

I can't even begin to express how sadenning is it to hear that we've had yet another member of out already small enough group, taken from us so suddenly.

This has however, in reading all of the posts made so far, taught me something that I think is important.

Remember that while this may be one of the things we are the most passionate about in our lives, as I'm sure it was for Stretcherr, it may not be for those around us.  There are many people for whom this is not something that they are interested in, and there are many more who may not even know that such interests exist.  As in this case, the people here who knew him wanted to know more about what happend.  But, as the case may or may not be, the people around Stretcherr in his life away from here, may not have known or been interested in his interests and activies, and may not want to be involved with them.    Just as it might be for us and the people around us who are part of our lives and important to us, but outside of this and other places on-line.  If that is the case then we should probably count ourselves lucky that we even got the notice that we did.

As a result I would urge us all, and I for one am going to make sure I do this too, to make sure that in the event that any of us pass on unexpectedly, that the people around us have some sort of notice with a list of E-Mails to send to, places to post, IM contacts to get ahold of, and all the places that we frequent that our death might have an impact on On-Line or not.  And maybe the instructions should even tell them to make sure to post specific details of the death, funeral dates for those who would want to attend, and the like, and keep the places up todate on them.
Because there's no guarantee that it would happen otherwise.  Something as simple as a letter address to your family, put in a lock box, that has a list of URLs, Usernames, Passwords, and even a short explaination of what to do at each place would go a long way to eliminating situations like this.

I would strongly urge us all to consider this as it is something that I think most everyone wouldn't, even when considering what needs to be taken care of because of an unexpected death.  Honestly, the internet hasn't been around for all that long for most of us, and there are plenty of people who don't know and/or wouldn't give a second thought to all the people whos' lives, places, blogs, and bulletin boards it's involved in.  And even for those of us for who the internet is so ingrained in our lives, even we forget just how many people our death would affect on-line let alone in the real world.

I am sorry if my rant has taken away at all from the respect and honor that is owed to Stretcherr, and there is a lot to be owed.  As there is with anyone who is taken from us by death.  But, it is unfortunate that such events make such great teachers.  Especially when it comes to reminding us of our own mortality, reminding us of just how many people we effect just through random meetings let alone through relation, and in making us consider what the effect of our death would be and the concequences it would bring.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Stretcherr.  And I hope that we all can come away with something positive for ourselves, about him, and for our lives.

Whoa...That was very unexpected. Life is full of mystery, isn't it? One day, you're alive and well and feel like nothing has gone wrong. The next day, you get shot because of the street crimes of today. I want to feel sad about it but I can't. I am just plain furious. No man, woman, or [censored] should die like that. More people have been dying from stray bullets recently. There was even a report about a [censored] being shot from a far away distance while he is inside of car and the bullet actually penetrated through the door where the [censored]  was behind of. Unfortunately, he didn't survive. This is the reason why I'm furious. I really wish people should stop committing street crimes but it will not happen that easily. I reallt give my condolences to Stretcherr's family and friends for their loss. May you rest in peace, friend.

My deepest condolences to Stretcherr's family, his RL friends, and to his boob brothers-in-arms. Not only will he be missed, he is missed already.

P.S.: L_C_RANT, after Zasha passed on, I thought about doing exactly what you have talked about in your post above. I  haven't actually followed through with it completely, but I have started the preliminary steps of implementing it. Sort of like a dead-man's switch device, this sort of information can best be given to the executor of your will, if you ask me.

P.P.S.: If it turns out to be some asshat's idea of a joke, so soon after the whole Angela Devi affair, I propose that he be banned from these Forums and the BEA for life. If it's a joke, I ain't laughing.

I think there are a few reasons why we wanted more information on this death notice.

1. How many of your friends know your username and password here?

If you use Firefox, and you use Windows XP, and you don't have a Windows login password, and have the FF Password Manager enabled, you won't need to know someone's BEA Forum password -- it will be put for you when you attempt to login to the BEA.

2. No mention of an innocent guy being shot by a "stray bullet" while trying to run off gang bangers in the media.

Think about it: San Francisco is a pretty large city. Do they print and/or talk about every single homicide in the daily news, or are there too many to refer to?

3. The original poster posts this news at a big boob forum, the day after his alleged death.

4. The original poster has not come back to give us any more information after the first post (as far as I know, haven't read all posts).

It was his friend who frequented here, not him, and so after doing his duty to his friend, he withdrew. And besides, he may have to do other, more important things IRL related to the aftermath of the death of his friend, so keeping us up-to-date might have a lower priority.

Since the contents of this thread have not yet been incorporated into an editable memorial page, locking it now would simply deny any other users who wish to express their condolences the opportunity to do so.

At some point (when someone can make time) we WILL remove this thread (and Zasha's, and any other such threads (re: models, morphers, etc...) and incorporate everything into a single dedicated area of the site for that purpose. Until that happens, I see no reason to deny users the right to express themselves on any of these matters, especially since every single user already knows (or doesn't know, at their own peril) the site rule against 'outing' anyone w/RL ID info.

Ok I have to ask.

Has anybody actually confirmed - and by confirmed, I mean verified with real world documentation and evidence; police reports, hospital records, newspaper accounts, that sort of thing, not "some guy on the net told me" - that the OP is accurate and true?

Yeah yeah I know how dare I suggest such a horrible thing as that someone would manipulate all your emotions this way.  Thing is, IT HAS HAPPENED before and much more than once - I have personally seen three different cases where someone put up a message like this - EXACTLY like this, "Hi, I'm a friend of X, I'm sorry to report they died the other day, I know they liked you all" - and it turned out that they were essentially doing it for attention and validation, not having died at all.

Not saying it's not true.  I also have been directly affected by two such deaths that were entirely true, sadly enough.  But in those cases there was easily-verifiable confirmation in the form of publicly accessible information.  I haven't read through all 15 pages here in detail, but the only confirmation I _have_ seen hs been in the form of "a member here confirmed it to me".  Folks, that sort of thing is EASILY fakeable.

I'm just sayin', don't go investing all sorts of emotion into this until you KNOW.

Only just now caught up with a very recent Jennifer Love Hewitt morph of his.  A really magnificent talent.  Such things shouldn't happen to anyone, least of all him.

Seeing as I have a poor internet connection I don't often get the chance to join in much with the community here, but I did notice on my few visits so far that Stretcherrs talent was sublime.

Beyond his morphing talent though I remember when Nikki left after being given some violating PM's, and one of the first to voice his opinion was Stretcherr. Not because he had lost a subject to morph, no, no, he was angry because somebody he had gotten to know was treated badly by people who are within this community.

A great talent, and even though I never had the pleasure of meeting him, a nice guy.

You will be missed, but no doubt you're somewhere better now. R.I.P.

Thanks to the mods for keeping this thread active.

In early April Stretcherr PM'd me at the EM with a new morph.  He wanted to know if I wanted the morph posted here and/or at the EM.  Sadly, due to seasonal allergies, I had been offline for days without checking my inbox until a day or so before it was brought to my attention that his loss had been announced here.  For several days I contemplated whether or not I should share it here in this thread mainly because I'm the subject of Stretcherr's fabulous morph and I don't want to detract from our RIP condolences.  Then I thought 'ya know, Stretcherr's talented morphs was one of his many fine contributions to our broad expansion community and he clearly wanted it published, so why not continue to appreciate this even during his absence?' Also, if this thread eventually resides in a special resting place, then maybe his morph will give a kind remembrance and brighten someone's day.

The pic is attached and this particular morph will always be very special to me.  I just wish I had been online April 7th when Stretch sent it so that I could have personally thanked him.    I'm also sharing a portion of his PM because, like his morphs, his kind & comical nature always put a smile on my face:

I have decided to come out of my lurking and pay tributes to one of the greats. You shall truly be missed Stretch.

The only way that I can see this being fake is that he decided he was going to stop coming here (for whatever reason) and decided to "kill himself off". I can't see this happening and the fact that he hasn't been on in such a long time now is surely proof.

RIP ol' chap

This is the first time I've visited the BEA for over a month, and this is the worst thing I could have dreamed of seeing.
Seeya around Stretcherr, you were a good man.  I hope you're in a place where all the women look like your morphs.

While shootings do happen, there may be up to a few hundred shootings in a large American city per year at most. At max, one or two on a bad day. That is still low enough for the news to report each and every one. Shootings usually lead the evening newscast on local news and are always in police blotter section of the newspaper. IMO there is no way the shooting was not in a newspaper. Also, police depts also post statistics and events on their websites. With no evidence at all, and with the more likely possibility of him just "killing" himself off, call me a cynic but I doubt this. I hope he is not sitting back and laughing at everyone's condolences -- THAT would be truly cynical.

Been away from the BEA for a while, and this is what I find when I get back.  Really sad news.
He was a funny guy and a talented artist who will be greatly missed by this community.

I never got to know you Stretcherr but I did enjoy your work.

May God shelter your soul.

(Removed a couple of posts here about a prohibited site.)

Potybob, that page was apparently put up by Stretcherr shortly before his death.  Anyway, the BEA Forum Rules prohibit the posting of directions to that website, so please don't do that again.

I thought the rules said that you can't post direct links to the site, not to mention the site by name.

The rule doesn't say "direct links; it says "Do not post the following content in any form: Any content or references to content from **19**, **18**, and similar sites."

Potybob's post contained all the information needed to find the page in question on the first try.

Gonzo -
Just curious, but what would make a site   similar to **19** or **18**?
What would make a site not like them?
Where is the "line in the sand" for the rule?

Still get sad about Stretcherr

It is too bad that mentioning some of his last works are on prohibited sites.

The intent of the rule is to prevent BEA users from posting photos of people who appear to be under the age of 18, so by "similar sites", we generally mean any web-community or photo-album site where one can obtain photos of people who appear to be minors.

Added by Pal: Just to expand a wee bit on this... since we can't list EVERY possible site that could be problematic per the Owner's wishes, we have to settle for "W, M and similar" ...if a user has a doubt about whether subjects in a photo are possibly underag3, or about the source of the photo, then that user ought to err on the side of caution and NOT post it here. It's simply not worth the risk to the site.

Added by gonZo: Nimrod, as far as I can tell, the five Stretcherr images on the prohibited site weren't exclusive to that site, and can be found in his BEA Member Area gallery, his free gallery, and this forum.

Its been over 2 years since Stretcher pass away, and someone brought up an old thread with his morph in it. It stirred up some memories of him, and I look up his gallery and it was like he never left. So I was thinking maybe someone could add a tribute page of his passing away. There is a part of me that doesn't want to dismiss him like he never existed. I'm thinking maybe we could leave something behind for him. I think he would like that! to remember him while he was with us!

I would like to share my sorrow about Stretcherr's passing on the day I pass him in the post count...

...which I feel dreadfully sorry over, as he is one of the greats by whom I do not feel worthy to pass.

At least we can rest assured there is someone morphing breasts in Heaven...
