I posted a brief commentary on exactly what went on in the Harry Potter scene from last night's SNL in the General Discussion forum.  Here it is again for those of you who didn't read it who are curious as to how the scene played out.

Quote:

For those of you who JUST missed it, it was a sight to behold! Lindsay was some chick from the Harry Potter series who apparently has returned to school after being away for a while... WITH some "developments" which she shows off in a white blouse and gray low-cut sweater vest. She obviously has some sort of push-up bra on that enhances her assets as well. Basically, Harry and the gang are trying to come up with a spell to protect them from a villian of some sort, but no one can take their gaze and attention away from Lindsay's rack, including the Head Master of the school. At one point Lindsay even holds a giant magnifying glass in front of her chest while reading out of a spell book. One by one the actors enter and then leave after making some sort of reference to masturbating, such as "taming my dragon." Hopefully we'll be able to find some screen caps and/or videos of this scene within the next few days!

So she'll give 'em a squeeze

Anyone know where we can find a torrent of this episode?

She certainly gives me pause (as well as...um, other things   ). Having just turned 28, I run into a lot of situations where I'm turned off by a woman because she looks too young. Britney Spears is one such **29**. Christina of website fame on this forum is another.

Lindsay is not one of those women. Neither, for that matter, is Scarlett Johannsen. Call me crazy, but I think both of them come off somewhat older than they actually are, and I find that to be a turn on.

You'll need Bittorrent to download the clip.

Since you missed it, here's a summary and review.

  • Opening segment - 3/10
(Cheney prepares Bush for the Senate hearings; Bush has done his own preparing by writing his answers on his body)
Some things here that could've been REALLY funny, but Will Forte's Dubya impression is the pits.  I thought Chris Parnell was playing Bush now?  He always gets the shitty end of the stick.  Remember that time he got fired, until Will Ferrell made them bring him back?  Anyway, I know none of the Bushes to come will ever be Ferrell's carefully honed, childlike caricature, but Forte's is pretty awful.

  • Monologue - (8/10)
(Lindsay makes up with Hillary Duff, is interrupted by Avril Lavigne, who makes up with Whitney Houston; Lindsay is hit on by Chris Parnell)
Lindsay Lohan just can't stop bouncing.  Great way to start.  This was a GREAT monologue.  People just KEPT coming out, and the humor never stopped building.  Rachel Dratch does a pretty bargain-basement impression of Hillary Duff, but the lines were *great* and she did a good job.  Amy Poehler's fall-down funny Avril Lavigne impression was the star of the segment ("I'm wearin BLACK fingernail polish!  I'm a PUNK!!!!  CANADA!!!!!!").  Even Chris Parnell as himself (I love the haughty-white-guy persona they've given him) worked.  Did anyone else catch his great pronunciation of "frequent" when he was talking about the Lindsay 18 countdown site?  Maya's Whitney impression is a pity compared to Debra Wilson's raging coked-out madhouse diva on MadTV, but it didn't detract too much.  This sketch could've been a 9 if they'd brought Usher out as Bobby...that's a real missed opportunity.

  • Turlington's Lower-Back Tattoo Remover (7/10)
    (Fake commercial...just what it says)
This was pretty damn funny to me because I know a SHITLOAD of girls with those god damn annoying tattoos.  It was cool and unique...maybe.  Now EVERYONE and, literally, their MOM has one.  I tell people all the time, "Think about how that's gonna look when you're sixty..."  Like they give a shit.  It's light, but it's still socially relevant and bitingly funny...good call.  The Jamaican kid put it over.

  • Jarret's Room (6/10)
(After 13 years, Jarret and Goby are thrown out of school; Jarret finds a new tenant for his apartment; Goby builds a weed-smoking robot)
This sketch was okay.  The only it got a six was Smoke-a-tron 2000.  Lindsay wasn't funny...Goby was barely funny.  All the laughs came from the robot.  Don't get me wrong, the robot was a RIOT...but I think it's time to retire the sketch when a machine (voiced by Will if I'm not mistaken) is stealing the spotlight.

  • Harry Potter and the Shockingly Awesome Boobage (9DD/10)
(Hermione returns to Hogwarts after a summer of personal growth)
This was TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME for like way too many reasons.  Okay, two MAJOR reasons, but a lot of other ones.  First of all, I think Rachel's Daniel-Radcliffe-as-Harry-Potter is one of the best impressions in the cast's repertoire, and although Seth wasn't Ron Weasely by a long shot he more than pulled his weight in the scene.  Chris and Jimmy were pretty funny as Fred and George, and any character who brings reason for the playing of "Let's Get it On" is okay with me.  I love that they wrote in Professor Snape, but was there ANYONE else they could've cast besides Will?  He's not very funny, and it seems as if he he's never seen Alan Rickman's unabashedly over-the-top portrayal, which is utterly ripe for parody.  The only reason Snape seemed to be in there was to have someone do a dead-on send up...without that, his part of the scene falls flat, which it did.  Horatio's **103** as Hagrid was one of the funniest things I've seen in the last two months.  I loved how the audience went nuts...it was priceless.  And then he did a couple of things and they sent him back out.  Weren't there like, at least a half-dozen funny things they could've gotten out of that?  Hagrid seemed to exist there only to get Horatio onstage in the costume for a few seconds.  The only real comedy of it was seeing him in the getup.  I'll tell you, this would've been a perfect time for a surprise cameo from Sir Ian McKellen doing his wicked Maggie Smith impression as Professor McGonagal.

Now: The Boobage.  Lindsay Lohan's titties are Bangin'.  She looks fuckin AWESOME.  It's pretty damn cool that in this and many other things she's so supremely willing to show off her figure, and yet never comes across as slutty.  I think it really rocks that there's a girl in Hollywood who's not a total stick and is obviously really thrilled with how she's developing.  Lindsay was very game in this scene; her resemblance to Emma Watson in that wig was kinda uncanny, and she does a good British accent.  Her only slip-up was the obvious cue-card reading when they were "reading" the book.  Couldn't they have put the lines in there?  Anyway, the giant magnifying glass was a really good sight gag.

Another really timely sendup, as the frighteningly-sexy-and-mature-for-her-age Emma Watson is developing very quickly (I know this because my friend's kid brother is literally [but harmlessly] obsessed with her) and may send teen boys into a frenzy after the new HP movie this summer.

This could've been a ten but I took off a half-point apiece for Will-as-Snape and for the wasted gem of Horatio-as-Hagrid.

Total Geek Note: I'm so psyched that I have one of those totally cool Gryffindor scarves.  Thank-you to J. Crew for making them.

  • Next week: Snoop Dogg/Avril Lavigne.
Okay, we know Snoop Dogg only plays variations on a theme of himself, but SNL's had lots of those people on before...so this is either gonna be REALLY good (Al Gore's surprisingly game appearance) or GOD AWFUL (Robert DeNiro's embarrassingly nauseating turn).  My guess is it'll be funny for two or three sketches.  I don't like Avril's music, but she's one my favorite hotties, so I'll prob watch.

  • Billy Joel (2/10)
(Billy Joel, fat and **93**, picks up some girls at a party and gives them a lift to another at Russell Simmons' Hamptons place)
Just so I know I'm on the right page here, Billy Joel got in trouble recently for **92** driving, right??  Horatio was good, but the only two gags were him-as-Billy and Billy driving **92**, and those didn't supply nearly as many jokes as Hermione's breasts.  Got old really fast, and the end sucked.

  • Music - Usher (6/10)
This is an astronomical rating from me for a SNL music break.  Being hopelessly out of touch with modern music, I almost never don't hate the musical guests.  But I really liked the song, I loved Usher's outfit, and you know that was some smooth-ass dancing.  Would've earned higher than a 6 if all those moves hadn't required lip-syncing.

  • Weekend Update (6//10)
There've been better, there've been worse, but even when the rest of the show isn't worth the paper it was written on, Weekend Update pulls some laughs.  The best lines:

Jimmy: "On Sunday, Jackson fired his legal team and replaced them with defense attorney Thomas Meserau.  And on Thursday he replaced Meserau with a Madam Tussaud's wax figure of Vincent Price and a mummified Egyptian housecat."

"Ben Affleck is joining Senator Ted Kennedy to campaign for a rise in the American Minimum Wage.  But first, cocktails!"

Jimmy: "Experts said Monday that doctors are seeing an alarming rise in drug-resistant cases of gonorrhea.  Again, you're welcome."

I know it's wrong, but I get a kick whenever anyone makes fun of the Good Enough Diploma.  Horatio's Jorge Rodriguez was pretty funny at first, but then seemed to get old as it dragged out for a while.  Little did I know it was building to a single punchline that surprisingly made it all worth it: "I'm lookin' for Pepe."  LMAO.  Good shit.

The segment might've gotten a seven if it had ended with the big laugh of the gonorrhea gag instead of whatever forgettable joke came after it.

  • Debbie Downer (9/10)
(Possibly a new running character, a woman who can suck the joy out of anything, including, in this case, a family trip to Disney World)
Instant Fucking Classic.  This started out DANGEROUSLY shaky and would've been a dog if Rachel, playing the deadly drab main character, hadn't gotten an incurable (and contagious) case of the giggles.  It should be said that Rachel Dratch has one of the greatest faces working in comedy today.  I'm amazed Disney/ABC let them get away with this, and wouldn't be surprised if we never saw this sketch again.  Best moment--Horatio laughing so hard he had to wipe his tears with his polo sleeve.  Lindsay looked like she was having a blast.  Fred appeared in this sketch without a single line.

  • Club Traxx (3/10)
(Parody of a European video-hits countdown show)
This sketch was pretty sucky.  A couple of laughs: Will as a hairy Greek guy and Maya's sharply funny throwaway, "Lesbians are the new gay people!"  There's like a zillion things they could've done with Rachel and Lindsay(!) doing a T.A.T.U. parody, and this was lame.  Also expected some shirts to get unbuttoned, but no.

  • The Sleepover (2/10)
(The most popular girl in school comes to spend the night at a geek girl's house)
This was really annoying, largely thanks to Amy's grating character and the fact that the sketch was seriously unfunny.  Lindsay looks crazy hot with pigtails.

    Music - Usher (4/10)
I didn't like this much, but I think he was really singing this time.  Between the chandelier that looks like a holiday ornament and the red-and-white lighting, it looked like the set was lit for a Christmas performance.

17th Annual Adult Movie Awards (6/10)
(Intro to NBC broadcast...host comes out...FCC interrupts and cuts all offensive material...host thanks us for watching)
A neat little swipe at the ridiculous FCC crackdown and an excuse to have Horatio play Ron Jeremy.  The beginning was great, with real names sprinkled in between the fake ones, and the endless sendup of male porn names, which are all the same.  "Ron Jeremy...Jenna Jameson...Phil McCracken...Urethra Franklin...Betty Balzac and the Betty Balzac Dancers...Jeremy Piven...Dick Petersworth...Dick Prong...Dick McFeelie...Dick Vhanes...Dick Spitz...Dick Rod...Rod Dick...Bill Maher and "The Teabagger"...Dick "The Penis" MacPherson...Jimmy Kimmel...Rusty Tailpipe...Krystal Ballz...Tawny Kooter...Rumple Foreskin...Misty Britches...Mary Hole...Saturday Night Live's Darrel Hammond...and Maggie Gyllenballs."  Good stuff.

    Overall episode: (7/10)
There was some annoying stuff, but the monologue and the classic Harry Potter and Debbie Downer sketches and a nimble and utterly delectable host made it more than worth it.

    Other notes:
Did anyone else notice Usher repeatedly and UNABASHEDLY staring straight down into Lindsay's deep cleavage during the credits??
