You are our own big breast anthropologist. Thanks for your work digging deeply in the ID thread.

My ID reQuest forum undertaking: 3,500 IDQ threads reviewed so far and about a thousand to go. I try and do a few each time I'm waiting for something else online: a download to finish, folks to say something in Chat, etc...
I'm checking each thread and solving the ones I can, bumping some that I can't but seem worth another look, and editing the thread titles to reflect those that are solved or are now unsolvable due to missing images and dead links (I wish folks would attach a pic instead of just linking externally: those links expire too quickly). I'm also pulling out the few violations that I find in there (mostly older than '06) from posts that predate the start of rules (like Score and Daktari).
When I'm done, I'll create a couple of new IDQ sub-forums: one for solved threads and one for those that are now unsolvable. One way or another, we'll then move those threads into the new forums (where they'll still be accessible and searchable of course) which should leave the main ID reQuest forum mostly just filled with unsolved subjects.
Everyone needs a hobby.

Just an update:
I've finished: every single thread in the Model ID Request forum has been reviewed and if SOLVED or BROKEN (now unsolvable due to expired links and/or missing images) it's been re-titled accordingly. I've also created two new 'chi1d boards' (sub-forums of the IDQ forum) for these two categories of threads... you can get to them from the main Forum Index http://forum.bearchive.com/index.php where they appear beneath the main IDQ forum.
I've asked sysadmins provide us with a method to keyword search and then multi-select groups of threads at once, so all the SOLVED and BROKEN IDQs can be moved to their new boards en masse. I'd like to point out that when SOLVED and BROKEN threads are moved, pointers for them will not be left in the main IDQ forum, since doing so would defeat the purpose of moving the threads (to un-clutter the main IDQ forum so that only open/unsolved requests are left in it). When a new IDQ gets solved, it won't be moved to IDQ: SOLVED immediately of course... it'll remain in it's original location for a least a few days once it's been solved.

...who just finished sorting the roughly 4,500 threads in the Model ID Request forum into solved and unsolved piles. When the admins give us a way to bulk-move threads, the solved and unsolved threads will be sorted into the sub-forums that were created today. In the meantime, though: BIG thanks to Pal for taking on such a challenging job. _ gonZo

Whew!
I just finished cleaning up the Model ID reQest forum... I got tired of waiting for the bulk search-and-move tool admins promised months ago, so I just went ahead and did it manually one thread at a time. Please bear in mind that I'm human and probably mis-placed a couple of threads over the course of the 30,000-some-odd mouse clicks this project took, so if you see something out of place, please let me know via PM and I'll fix it.
All solved IDQ threads have been moved to the 'SOLVED' IDQ sub-board.
All now-unsolvable IDQ threads (due to broken links, missing images, rule violation removals, etc...) have been moved to the 'BROKEN' IDQ sub-board.
From time to time as they come up, we'll be moving newly solved/broken threads to the relevant sub-board, so if you can't find an IDQ thread you posted, please just look in the two IDQ sub-boards (we won't be leaving pointers as it'd defeat the purpose of the clean-up to replace 3,500 completed/broken threads with 3,500 pointers). Everything in the new sub-boards can still be searched, replied to, etc...
Post-clean-up, there are:
3,017 solved threads now residing in the SOLVED sub-board.
511 now-moot unsolvable threads in the BROKEN sub-board.
1,103 unsolved threads remaining in the main IDQ forum... 99%+ of these posts are still potentially solvable since I've filtered out all the other stuff... so those of you feeling sleuthy can apply yourselves to the remaining unsolved requests as efficiently as possible.
Thanks!
PS: per this note: http://forum.bearchive.com/index.php/topic,429354.0.html from now on, we're asking users who post an ID reQuest to ATTACH and NOT LINK an image to their post, so we can avoid re-accumulating hundreds of dead/broken threads in the future. Thanks.

Per the pinned announcement we made back in July, users posting ID Requests are now required to include an ATTACHED image in addition to any external links to pix or clips. This is intended to reduce the frequency with which ID Requests become dead/unusable over time when the external links expire.
Posting this reminder here too in an effort to inform those who have managed to miss this new info during the past 5 months. The original notice is in this thread: http://forum.bearchive.com/index.php/topic,429354.0.html
