Red Cat's morphs in Thanks x3.1
« on: September 07, 2001, 04:06:00 AM »
Hi!

Has anyone else seen Red Cat's morphs in the latest issue of Thanks x3.1? They are a fine start to what will hopefully be a long and prolific career.

I'm especially tickled by the little Red Cat doing a "Kilroy Was Here" that the Good Lady uses as her signature.

Pacman, please pass along my compliments with the hopes that we will soon see more of her work.

Considered them passed....

Redcat has a great future as a morph artist is she sticks with it.

She's been taught by one of the best.... and that someone also showed me the light of photoshop....

We need to start a morphing apprentice program I think..

Yes, Red Cat's morphs are good. As are Pac's, Magic's, Spikes and miscellanous (and yes I am aware there are 700 million of you)

Of course we all know why Pac wants an apprentice scheme, it's so someone will bring him beer while he watches sports / sports entertainment

Seriously though this is a good idea. Writing could probably do with a similar programme, ditto art. The only problem is that really it's asking those who have already given so much to give more - kind of like taxing the rich.

I kind of think that his already happens to an extent... my art really derives from 3 artists who have spent a good deal of time answering really specific question I had and criticizing my work when it needed it.

Tutorials are nice, but nothing replaces a real person either.

Maybe soon I should hand down my secrets to an up and coming artist with similar tastes?

Though I will openly admit that in the past I have not shared how I did things due to the fear that if more people started morphing in a similar way my work would become a dime a dozen and duplicated by all.

I can't tell you how frustrating it is sometimes to see a morph done of a pic that I also morphed but haven't yet released...

Sometimes they are so similar I wonder if it's worth sharing at all.

I think this may also be the reason so many artists also don't openly advertise the resources they obtain subjects to morph from.

Anyone think it's true that being greedy keeps certain artists in business?

Pac,
I dont think your being greedy at all...in fact, I refuse to share my recipe for sauce ( I'm an Italian guy), it has taken me many hours over a stove, and there were alot of failures along the way. Now it has taken its rightful place in family lore. My Aunt with the hairy mole will just have to make her own, or humble herself (fat chance) and ask me for a jar. You have a great recipe, be proud.

Sure but if MY mentors had been greedy, I wouldn't be morphing... so it's like a double standard.

I feel so guilty.

What if me or people like me are holding morphing back by not sharing?

Considering the turnover in the user gallery, I doubt you are holding anyone back.

Well I know that I certainly put pressure on venerable writers for feedback on my stories. Sometimes they even manage to get it back to me in the same year - mentioning no lupine types

Yeah, you have a fan club red. Based on your skills as a morpher and not other things...

Hi, everyone.

I was directed to this forum thread for reasons some of you will know.  I'm a sorta "old-timer" morph artist, but I haven't done much in the public view lately.

I have a couple of tutorials I'm "working" on, one nearly done but for formatting and all the annoying stuff, and another that I'm just barely into.  The BE stuff I've done lately has been pretty much exclusively special-request private stuff, and a several pics for Vanessa Montagne (a very nice European lady with a huge members' site of pics).

Anyway, just wanted to poke my head in here for a sec and say Hi, let you all know I'm still kicking around, and my email if you're interested:  [email protected]

I don't have a LOT of time for Photoshop work these days, trying to have a life and all that, plus doing some freelance web design work, blah blah.  But I'm one of those who's not afraid to give advice, where possible.  I learned the hard way that describing how to use Photoshop in a text-only email is REALLY hard, so the more you know already, the easier it'll be to ask me stuff.

All right, that's enough for this post I think.  Maybe I'll drop in on the Bulletin Board here once in a while - haven't posted here in (and I mean this) YEARS.

See ya,
The Surgeon

Surgeon, long time no see or speak!

Your tutorial is honestly incredibly beneficial and I would recommend that ALL newbies and non-newbies to morph get ahold of it if it ever goes online.

I certainly hope you have gotten to see some of my recent work, and when you do I hope you smile ear to ear knowing that you are the guy who FINALLY convinced me to start using layers properly.

You brought new life into my mouse by sharing and giving me your opinions.

You have helped me a great deal... Obi Wan doesn't have shit on you.

I plan on revamping the whole tutoral site to make it easier to find stuff and add a bunch of great site links to ..ahem round it out.

The Surgeon: I am glad that you did not abandon my request that you write one and we are all waiting with baited breasts...er breath!
