Ok, I just said "Holy Fuck!" more times in a row than I ever have before!   :o
I'm amazed there weren't some deaths in filming that!

An Experimental Demonstration of Evolution.

Make a GIANT Petri dish.
Divide it into strips. As you move towards the center, increase the concentration of a simple antibiotic by a factor of 10 on the strips (so it goes 0, 1, 10, 100, 1000, 100, 10, 1, 0).
Add E. Coli bacteria to the outermost strips.
Put a time-lapse camera where it can look down onto the whole dish/plate.
Watch how the bacteria grow and spread until they reach the next strip.
See how random mutations let new strains survive and expand into the strips with more antibiotics....

"A chilling nightmare plays out at a Titan II missile complex in Arkansas in September, 1980. A worker accidentally drops a socket, puncturing the fuel tank of an intercontinental ballistic missile carrying the most powerful nuclear warhead in our arsenal, an incident which ignites a series of feverish efforts to avoid a deadly disaster. Directed by Robert Kenner (FOOD, INC.) and based on the critically acclaimed book by Eric Schlosser (FAST FOOD NATION), COMMAND AND CONTROL is a minute-by-minute account of this long-hidden story. Putting a camera where there was no camera that night, Kenner brings this nonfiction thriller to life with stunning original footage shot in a decommissioned Titan II missile silo. Eyewitness accounts — from the man who dropped the socket, to the man who designed the warhead, to the Secretary of Defense— chronicle nine hours of terror that prevented an explosion 600 times more powerful than Hiroshima."

The official trailer for a proposed series:

"Black Holes is a satirical animated series about space conquest, the meaning of life and proctology. It chronicles the journey of Dave The Astronaut and his partner, an intelligent melon, as they embark on the first ever human mission to Mars."

Let's hope they meet their Kickstarter goal and get Season 1 funded!

The surprising pattern behind color names around the world - or why so many languages invented words for colors in the same order.

Maybe, when Homer was referring to the "wine-dark" sea, it wasn't because he was color-blind. Maybe he just didn't have different words for "wine red" and "ocean blue"?
