Thanks for the link to that video, 3d. Even if you disagree with Keith Olbermann's politics, the litany of quotes from the TP nutjobs has got to scare you.

It had better....

"Obama will be forced to forge new working relationships with the GOP."

Assuming, of course, that the GOP will *want* to work with him. Which I really doubt...

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but there is a Teabagger nutjob running against Harry Reid in Nevada and polls indicate that she is about even with him. Living in Washington State, I have a more than passing interest in that election. Two states, Washington and Tennessee, are stuck with more than half of the U.S. pile of high-level nuclear waste in a bunch of ever-more leaky tanks. There is an almost-perfect long term (10,000 year) nuclear repository in Yucca Mounyain, Nevada. There is a single reason that repository is not now receiving high-level nuclear waste: Harry Reid.

Everyone in the United States agrees that Yucca Mountain is the best place to dump our nuclear waste. Everybody, except 90% of the people of Nevada. And President Obama knows, you don't do something that 90% of the residents of the home state of your senate majority leader oppose.

So the right-wing citizens of Nevada have an interesting choice, 'cuz the day Harry Reid leaves office, the trucks from Hanford and Oak Ridge start to roll.

Actually when the statement is by the highest-ranking elected public official of that party, it pretty much does, dude.

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi both have a higher percentage of democrat spending money on the opponent to win!

let's hope for the good of america cocky attitudes like jj's on the right persist and they get lazy in heading to the polls.  most of them already figure theyve got bigger gains than 94 locked up.  no doubt the teatards on the right can yell the loudest, but i think they might be in for a surprise.

Right!

And lately 'ol Charlie Brown aka Obama has been trying to do a bit too much kicking of the ball (health care, stimulus, etc.).

People are sick and tired of it as well as scared to death of the financial implications for the country.

No more kicking the ball around to see what happens.

Change and hope you can believe in is gonna come.

The reason most of the country is up in arms is because Obama HAS DONE TOO MUCH!

Most people don't want European style socialism installed within 18 months of the Obama presidency in America via sweeping laws passed by Pelosi, Reid and Obama.

A Canadian explains why Obama and the Democrats are in big trouble with the American electorate.

================
Margaret Wente
There’s good reason the masses are revolting.

No wonder the independent voters who put Mr. Obama into office have deserted him. Fifty-five per cent of the electorate now say they are or lean Republican.

Although Canada is far more blessed, even we won’t entirely escape the massive restructuring that faces almost every country in the Western world. The problem is simple. People have a lot more government than they can or will pay for. Mr. Ford and Tea Partiers know that. Scaling down the scope of government is the political challenge of the next generation. And if mainstream politicians stay in denial, they’ll be toast.

« Reply #3131 on: October 31, 2010, 08:11:45 PM »

I notice in that cartoon that nether the Republican leaders or their rank and file members in the government are anywhere to be seen.

But while the evil Dem Leader crows (vultures?) are plainly evident in the cartoonist's drawing, you would think he/she would have someone on the Republican side trying to give a helping hand to Uncle Sam (who I was named after, by the way) as he is down and facing such a dire future. Cry

But nope they aren't there.

Which is kinda the truth about the Republicans for the last two years.  Roll Eyes

They preferred to sit on their hands rather than rolling up their sleeves and getting to work with the Dems to help solve all the various dire problems this country faced as the federal government transitioned from the old administration to the new administration. And they did this for the best of reasons - political self-interest and ideology - which trumps serving the American people, and by that I mean all the American people and not only those on the right who voted them in to office. Undecided

How patriotic (and everyone knows that conservatives love to claim the mantle of being true American patriots compared to those pinko socialist liberals) of them to pull an Emperor Nero and sit back and fiddle while America "burns" in crisis.

And now at the mid-terms they and their moneyed proxies are spending a huge amount of money in advertisements saying they should be rewarded to fill seats in the US Congress and state government houses for doing nothing!

Seems to me these people are the least deserving to get their fat asses in any of those cushy seats that the American public owns. Angry

Although if Obama could pull it off that would put him right up there with JC. Shocked

Of course the Repubs and Tea baggers knee jerk reaction would be to pillory him then for violating the USC, the Bible, or something equal stupid, rather than give Obama any credit for doing a miraculous thing. Undecided Roll Eyes

I look forward to the upcoming battle royale between the Tea Party Republicans and the socialist Obama Regime.

The Atlantic: "The Phenomenal 'Chinese Professor' Ad"

Angry Asian Man: "political ad: future china will laugh at your downfall, america"
Quote
Holy crap. This new political ad, titled "Chinese Professor"  and paid for by "Citizens Against Government Waste," is running on some serious Red Menace juice, and has to be one of the most racist and xenophobic pieces of fear-mongering propaganda I've ever seen....

You have to hand it to them -- this is the ad everyone's going to be talking about. It's slick, well-produced, and takes the average American fear of ever-encroaching China to another level. This is some serious Red Dawn shit.

The futuristic classroom setting. The smirking professor. The evil yellow peril laughter at the end. It's frightening, and is going to hit all the right nerves with Joe America. If you weren't already scared of a China-dominated future, this ought to do it.

The most brilliant thing is, it never once actually blames the Chinese for anything. Instead, it foretells a future in which America is responsible for its own undoing -- China's just there to laugh in our faces...

And here is an interesting postscript to the ad -- commentary by one of the people who was in it. He thought he was being employed as an extra for the upcoming Transformers 3 movie. Wrong!

Yeah, I've seen it.  Yet again, the perennial question: where was an ad like this during the Dubya years?

One particularly kooky aspect it manages to sneak in is CHINA holding America at fault for the fallacy of NATIONALIZATION, which, outside the paranoid echo chamber, hasn't even happened.  So I guess this is supposed to be some semi-optimistic POST-COMMUNIST China.

Sadly, I've seen all this before.  Remember the "fear the Japanese" fad of the Eighties?  The Japanese running USA 2015 in the second "Back to the Future" movie?  The novel and movie "Rising Sun"?

All we need now is a revival of the novel on which Buck Rogers was based.  Or how about Fu Manchu?

The reason most of the country is up in arms is because Obama HAS DONE TOO MUCH!
1. "Most of the country" is NOT "up in arms".

2. Pres. Obama "has done too much"? So you would rather he do nothing? That's not what we voted him into office to do, to sit on his ass like an ignorant yokel.

3. Again, to remind the likes of you of the solid achievements of this administration, that benefit all of us, not just members of his party, not just the rich, not just "special interests":

WTF Has Obama Done So Far?
