Apropos of nothing: though she's as wacky as a loon and her heart is probably as shriveled and black as the Wicked Witch's in the Wizard of Oz, Michelle Bachman looks awful good for 55. WAY easier on the eyes than Palin IMO, and without that shrill, horrid voice (but you still have to work hard to ignore her actual words of course). Wink

Of course, I'd give 'em both a pass for New York's junior senator, Kristen Gillibrand. Talk about easy on the eyes! Cheesy

That mealy-mouthed racist son-of-a-bitch Haley Barbour says that he won't run for president in 2012 after all. Good riddance.

And you know you're in trouble when even Charlie Sheen thinks that your stands on the issues is wrong...are you listening, Donald Trump?

I liked the quote from the "unnamed source" at the RNC--"Being governor of Mississippi is like being on the Jamaican bobsled team." I wonder if gOOber would agree. Of course, I come from a state where the last governor who tried to run for president was Miles Poindexter in 1920.

I completely feel this guy's pain when he says that, apparently, not even the President of the United States will ever be considered to be a true American as long as he is not just like all the other presidents this country has ever had: namely, white, male and rich.

The Onion: "Trump Unable To Produce Certificate Proving He's Not A Festering Pile Of Shit"

The Angry Black Lady Chronicles: "America to Donald Trump: You're Fired!"

The Economist: "Obama's birth certficate: if only proof were needed"

And the final word:

Good Magazine: "Birthers Are Like Goonies; They Never Say Die"
Quote
@mathis12: "All three signatures on Obama BC signed with same rollerball pen. BTW: rollerball pens did not exist until 1980s. #tcot #p2"

Before you ask, yes, this guy's serious, and there's a lot more where this comment came from. You sort of had to expect this type of thing, which again raises the question of whether Obama should have even put forth his birth certificate.

Conspiracy theorists are conspiracy theorists, and, like a dog chasing its tail, they can entertain themselves for hours with ever new ways to approach a problem. On top of that, some of the birthers are racists, and because being a racist is no longer socially acceptable, they'll forever question Obama's status as an American as a way of marginalizing him without directly attacking his blackness.

Starting today (and about three years too late) you can be pretty sure that the people focusing on the president's birthplace instead of his policies are either new-world-order fearmongers or straight-up bigots. Either way, ignore them.

Yup, he's a Muslim who for twenty years sat in a CHURCH and listened to his radical PASTOR and never said anything! How dare he?Huh

Really, people, it's a simple test: if any politician or television star says that he or she is a birther, strike them off your list of non-racists. We have far more important things to talk about than this, and we should not let this sideshow distract us from them. There are those who say that Pres. Obama should never have bowed to the "pressure" that Donald Chump and Co. have been producing, but, as the adult in the room the president finally had to say, "OK, kids, that's enough roughhousing. Put your toys away and behave." And now is as good a time as any for that to happen.

I was so hoping the birther issue is behind us! So I down load the pdf file today from the whitehouse site and drop it into illustrator, separate the mask and found many layers of the certificate. Once I see discrepancy in the document I also see a fake page roll on the upper left corner. I don't know if it real, but it has been doctored big time! I haven't even began in photoshop. I just want to know why did the whitehouse release this item if they wanted to end it, or did they? Honestly, with 1/3 of the politician in the house not believing in science over creationist, I would welcome a educated elitist to run this country regardless of where he was born. But I don't want a obvious doctored birth certificate be the subject on the election platform over the real issue of the war, education, medicare, and tax.

Obama is an American not just because he was born in Hawaii but also because HIS MOTHER WAS AN AMERICAN. Birthers never seem to remember that simple fact. Period.

Can we please move on, please?

that isn't the issue, it's why keep the controversy alive by releasing a doctored certificate and tell everyone to move on to other issue?

What does Obama have to gain to say he is an American and show his overly doctered birth certificate he got made with adobe illustrator?

(anger rising....)

No, the issue is why all these f*ing morons keep harping on this non-issue, clutching at the most feeble of straws.....

It's racism, pure and simple.

These clods simply cannot cope with the fact that a Black man with a foreign-sounding name was clearly and unequivocally elected the President of the United States.

Look, you want proof?

Go check the microfilm archives for the Honolulu newspapers...

Quote
We talked to reporter Will Hoover, who wrote a well-researched story for the Honolulu Advertiser on Nov. 9, 2008, about Obama's childhood years in the the Aloha State. It ran under the headline "Obama Slept Here."

In researching the story, he went to the microfilm archives and found the birth announcement for Obama. Actually, he found two of them, one in his Honululu Advertiser on Aug. 13 , 1961, and in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin the next day . They both said the same thing: "Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6085 Kalanianaole Highway, son, Aug. 4."

But here's the thing. Newspaper officials he checked with confirmed those notices came from the state Department of Health.

"That's not the kind of stuff a family member calls in and says, 'Hey, can you put this in?'" Hoover explained.

Take a second and think about that. In order to phony those notices up, it would have required the complicity of the state Health Department and two independent newspapers — on the off chance this unnamed [son] might want to one day be president of the United States.

- Politifact.com

Read that carefully.

AFTER the whole bogus controversy started, a reporter went into the archives and looked for President Obama's birth announcement in the local papers. He found it. The only way I see that you could fake that is with a time machine....

Yes it's stupid and racist, but you don't pour gas on flame by producing a fake document on your own website from the White House! That was utterly even more stupid!

The majority of this country are not racist, and the number of Tea Party showed us that! Keeping the issue of Obama birth have done well for him and allow the opposition to keep looking like a racist, every time they bring it up. But to fabricate a false document and then tell people that you don't want them to dwell on it is just plain mind game to the general public instead of dealing with real issue of changes we can believe in. Somebody in the White House really drop the ball on this really stupid action.

I get the feeling that it's the real deal but it was purposely altered by Obama to let the birther nonsense continue. It makes the Republicans who focus on it look crazy and that could help him in next year's election. Just some of my musings.

1. The document the President released is not fake. It clearly is not fake. All the people who say it is, are at best mistaken, and at worst, racist, bigoted, delusionary cretins.

2. The fact that this President finally decided to stoop to the low level of the Tea Partiers and the birthers and release his long-form birth certificate, a thing that no other president in American history had ever been badgered to do, is a shameful thing. Because as rtpoe said, the ONLY reason is because he is a biracial man of African-American descent. This is a 21st century version of the poll tax, or the grandfather clause. How dare this Negro think he deserves to be in OUR White House, despite the fact that he is eminently qualified to be there? Other than the fact that he is of way above average intelligence and by dint of hard work, how on earth could this Negro have gotten into OUR lily-white, Ivy League schools? There's no way, he must have gotten in only via affirmative action. And so on.

3. When the tsunami/earthquake hit Japan, some mouthbreathers had the unmitigated gall to claim that this was karmic payback for Pearl Harbor. When the earthquake hit Haiti, that coldblooded false prophet Pat Robertson had the temerity to claim that that was karmic payback for "Haiti's pact with the devil". I wonder why these same people had nothing to say about the tornadoes that struck in the southern United States. Perhaps it's karmic payback for slavery? for the birther movement? for the Tea Party movement? Idiocy cuts both ways.

4. The new leadership in the House of Representatives has been there for almost 200 days now, and I've yet to see a SINGLE job that they and their policies have created, a SINGLE savings in the budget, or a SINGLE means of paying down our deficit. They are the ultimate mudslingers, just like primates in a zoo. They have no positive alternatives to what this administration has on the table, and they know it. There is hardly a more insidious clan of craven fools in this country than the newest members of the lower house of the 112th United States Congress. Shame on them all.

I've thought about that, Zookie. I recall that a critical moment happened in the early 1950s when Joseph McCarthy made a particularly outrageous breach of a promise he had made, and Joseph Welch asked him, "Have you no shame, Sir?" It was evident from his response that McCarthy, who was by that time in the last stages of his long-term alcoholism (which would kill him a couple of years later) didn't understand. But everyone else understood. The particular crew to whom you refer do not understand shame. It may be their long-term alcoholism (Boehner), or that they are behaving as they think politicians "all" behave, but they have no idea why the should feel shame, merely because they lie and take bribes.

The long form doesn't prove anything! Go to any Photoshop forum and many of the discussion will be about how badly doctored the long form is. They didn't have adobe illustrator when Obama was born, but beside that the page roll on the upper left corner has false perspective from the scanner, the pixel of some of the letter are almost twice the size of most of the other texts, and the biggest final red flag is the official signature is on a separate layer of the original document. It is obvious you don't have or understand adobe Illustrator or Photoshop in regard to leaving the document or photo in layers and what that means. As Galidan suspect that Obama has the real document but post this doctored one instead to make the Republican look like a bigot ass questioning the validity, as a devout liberal, I think this is shameful race baiting. I think it's shameful because most people do not understand computer graphic and would immediately call anyone out for being racist if they question the document as being a valid copy. You will find reputable people declaring Obama a natural born citizen, but you will not find one computer Illustrator expert declaring the long form document legit.
