("rioting goon"?)  ???

In the shadows of Trumpelstilzken he removed already every environmental protection the industry brought to his attention. This guy is the biggest killer of US citizens right now. Unnoticed by most. Up to the moment they die when they realize his work removing environmental protection contaminated them.

From what i've read that list of pastors was from before the recent news about Moore came out.

Yes, you're right. Apparently, Mrs. Moore decided to do some creative editing of a previous, pre-scandal endorsement list and then posted it to FB. Husband and wife, what a matched pair. :(

Meanwhile, seems some WhatAbouters are pushing for the DOJ to be a tool of the Trump Administration and punish political opponents on his request and take a close look at that uranium deal. You know, the one that's been thoroughly debunked six ways to Sunday?

People have even produced charts showing all the connections between Clinton and Russia! Real charts! With colored boxes and everything, so you KNOW it's true!

Let's put it this way. There are two political figures, both of which are in a web of connections that strongly suggest they are in "cahoots" (to put it mildly) with our most serious geopolitical rival. Who should we investigate? The person whose political career is essentially over - they're limited to writing and the lecture circuit, or the person who is currently the PRESIDENT OF THE COUNTRY?

By the way, you want a chart? Here's one showing the Trump-Putin web, with notations explaining the links, unlike the Clinton-Russia ones:

Also, congratulations on yet another violation of the emoluments clause, and one paid for by you, the American taxpayer:

The Independent (UK): "China approves Donald Trump-branded spas, escort services, hotels and massage parlours without US Congress permission"
Preliminary approval has been granted for 38 trademarks which raises further questions about conflicts of interest

"Chinese authorities have granted preliminary approval for dozens of Trump-branded businesses, expanding his commercial empire and raising further conflicts of interest, say lawyers.

The 38 trademarks include new hotels, spas, escort and concierge services, massage parlors, personal security services and insurance, according to public documents.

The President’s lawyers applied for the trademarks in April last year, at the same time the then Presidential candidate Trump was accusing China of 'ripping off' the US and deliberately manipulating its currency to its own advantage.

If there is no objection, the trademarks will be formally registered after 90 days.

Ethics lawyers argue that if the Trump trademarks receive any special treatment due to their association with the President, it would violate the US Constitution, which prohibits those in public office from accepting anything of value from foreign governments, unless they are approved by Congress.

Congress has not approved the China trademarks.

Norm Eisen, who served as chief ethics lawyer for former President Barack Obama, told The Independent that the initial registration of a long-denied Trump trademark "certainly seems to run afoul of the foreign emoluments clause" of the US Constitution.

"I anticipate that these issues will enter into our litigation," he said. "When Trump is profiting from these valuable Chinese benefits [...], how can we be sure he will advance US interests in his engagements with that country, for example by staunching the flow of American jobs out from the US to China?"...

The Trump Organisation is being run by Mr Trump’s two oldest sons, Donald Jr and Eric Trump, whilst he is in the White House. He was urged to divest from his businesses and place assets in a blind trust but has not done so. The trust, of which he is the sole beneficiary, is being run by Donald Jr and longtime associate Allen Weisselberg. The President can revoke the trust at any time and stands to benefit financially from it after his term is over.

His sons have continued to expand the Trump brand since Inauguration; in Canada and Dubai. Taxpayers have reportedly spent millions on security costs for the sons on their business trips around the world.

Great, that chart needs to be updated, it's from when Trump was just the President Elect.

And given that his son was talking directly to Wikileaks aka Julian Assange and a lot of other things it will be hard to comprehend for some of the Trumpelstilsken fans how corrupt he is.

OK, I thought this would be all over here by now, but I guess people haven't checked the news lately.

Senator Al Franken (D-MN) has been accused of sexually harassing one of the women on a USO tour he was on in 2006 (before he became a senator). And there's photographic evidence.

Here's why this is different from all the other accusations we've been hearing lately, including that of wannabe senator Roy Moore:

Franken immediately issued a statement apologizing, and a little while later issued another more elaborate apology. He is not making any excuses or trying to shift blame.

He actually called for an official ethics investigation before anyone else got around to it, and has stated he will fully cooperate with it.

He's got a record in the Senate that pretty much makes it clear that was an isolated incident:

In 2009, Franken introduced a provision to the next year’s defense appropriations bill that banned federal funding for “defense contractors who forced employees to mandatory binding arbitration in the case of **14**, assault, wrongful imprisonment, harassment, and discrimination.”

In 2011, Franken joined other Democratic senators to introduce the Arbitration Fairness Act (he reintroduced the bill in 2015) to “eliminate forced arbitration clauses in employment, consumer, and civil rights cases.” Such clauses often apply to employees alleging workplace harassment.

In 2012, he supported the Violence Against Women Act, saying "The VAWA reauthorization bill is another step toward a more just society as Sheila [Wellstone] described it,” Franken said. “And I look forward to it becoming law.”

And just this past October, Franken pushed a bill to establish federal funding to train first responders and members of law enforcement in interviewing possible survivors of sexual assault. Franken sponsored the legislation after a former intern raped a 19-year-old university student, Abby Honold, who reached out to Franken’s office to discuss the subject.

So.....

Personally, I'm willing to forgive him and let it go. Partly because he owned up to it and apologized, partly because it looks like he's made up for it, and partly because.....JEEZ GODDAMNIT! Are we going to keep condemning everyone to hell for relatively minor things that happened years ago? A guy like Weinstein or Moore who have a long reputation of scumbaggery for things worse than this, sure. Can't we let people grow and evolve and change their minds? Even Nathaniel Bedford Forrest, the first Grand Wizard of the KKK, renounced his membership in that group and advocated for the admission of blacks to law school.

We've got to be able to let some things go and move on.

What is the good/advantage that Trumpelstilzken is allowing again the import to the US of elephant parts eg. as trophies?

Can someone with a sane mind please explain this to me?

I hear you, I really do.

Meanwhile, while keeping utterly silent on "Alabama's Finest" Roy Moore, the current occupant of the White House had this to say on Twitter about Sen. Al Franken:

Quote
The Al Frankenstien picture is really bad, speaks a thousand words. Where do his hands go in pictures 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 while she sleeps? ......And to think that just last week he was lecturing anyone who would listen about sexual harassment and respect for women. Lesley Stahl tape?

Question - Isn't this "whataboutism"?

Or is "whataboutism" not applicable when it it is used against Trump or conservative/Republicans?

Yeah it's whataboutism. Would be a better example if Franken had more than a dozen women accusing him of assault though.  Franken is definitely a creep, even if he isn't accused of anything nearly as serious as Republicans obstinately defend Trump or Moore for.

Anyway, I broke my regular rule of staying away from politics in the OT section to see how the end of net neutrality might be playing among my fellow BEAers.  If this doesn't budge the Trumper cult, what could?

Ironically we had Thanksgiving more than a month ago up here, but on days like this I'm even more thankful than usual to be a Canadian.

It won't budge it, rather it will make it even more entrenched. If neutral unbiased sources of news cannot use the "Internet airwaves" as freely as right-wing propaganda sources can, and if your local TV news station is swallowed up by the extreme right-wing Sinclair group, the American populace will be even more uninformed than it currently is.

The death of Net Neutrality will be a death knell for American representative democracy. It may sound over-the-top to say so but it is true. What is worse is that since America is looked up to as an "example" of how to do things, expect anti-Net Neutrality legislation to be passed in other countries as well.
