Some good news on the way to eliminating another nonsensical, anti-democratic Bush v. Gore situation:

The Hill: "New Mexico gov signs bill granting electoral votes to national popular vote winner"

New Mexico is the latest state to sign into law legislation that would give the state’s Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate with the most popular votes nationwide.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) signed the legislation Wednesday to officially add New Mexico to a joint compact with more than a dozen other states, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.

The joint compact only goes into effect if enough states sign on to bring the total Electoral College votes up to at least 270, enough to win the presidency.

With New Mexico now on board, 14 states and the District of Columbia have enacted into law the National Popular Vote bill, according to organizers of the initiative, comprising 189 electoral votes, still well short of 270.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the country:

"North Carolina's largest political donor and three others, including the chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, have been arrested on bribery charges..."

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/04/03/north-carolina-gop-election-1313147

This is the state, by the way, where a House of Representatives seat is still open because an investigation found credible evidence for election fraud on the Republican side (tampering with absentee ballots).

Why does it always seem to be the Republicans who get into this sort of trouble? Oh, right, the GOP has no ethics or morals.....

There's an actual purge going on at the WH and cabinet of people who aren't sufficiently loyal to El Presidente. Kirstjen Nielsen, Secretary of the Dept. of Homeland Security, is the most highly ranked person to be shown the door. One might think that's a good thing, but keep in mind that she was kicked out because she wouldn't break laws to be as cruel as El Presidente wanted her to. And her replacement is going to be more compliant.....

A note to all people currently in the Trump Administration. This is a screencap of Nielsen's Wikipedia page. This will be her legacy for all time. Do you want the same for yourself?

As per the NY Times:

The latest departures, along with previous vacancies, will leave the Department of Homeland Security without a permanent secretary, deputy secretary, two under secretaries, Secret Service director, Federal Emergency Management Agency director, ICE director, general counsel, citizenship and immigration services director, inspector general, chief financial officer, chief privacy officer and, once Mr. McAleenan moves, Customs and Border Protection commissioner.

The worlds leading idiot is telling French fire fighters how to do their jobs.

"Donald J. Trump

So horrible to watch the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Perhaps flying water tankers could be used to put it out. Must act quickly!

Well he has a job to do, but he isn't doing it well at all. Maybe French fire fighters could tell him how to do it?

Something to know. European fire fighters (French as well as Germans if they are well trained) attack fire from inside the building. You won't see hundreds fire fightters and fontains outside pressing all the water to the roofs.

Attacking from inside it is more dangerous for the fire fighters, but usually much more promising. It avoids destabilize the building structure with tons of water that only collects in the wrong places, avoids the flames going down to the rest of the building. While attacking from outside does all above + the flames and heat are pressed back into the building causing much more damage.

As I said worlds leading idiot. Instead he shuts finally up, he has always something to say. And the masses are cheering to him!

Good to know there weren't big injuries to people, even around 1000 people were in the building when the fire started. Also many historical objects could be safed.

With continued erosion of long-held societal norms, the rise of the radical right-wing, and the complicity of far too many members of what are supposed to be co-equal parts of the governance of this country, we are not in a good place right now.

So the Barr version of the Mueller Report is out....

1. It wasn't as 'redacted' as much as was feared.

2. It is true that Mueller did not recommend any charges against El Presidente - he's leaving that to Congress, because it's their job to impeach if they deem it necessary.

3. There's a hell of a lot of Very Bad Things in there for El Presidente.

4. There's enough in there for the House to continue their investigations, or start new ones.

5a. It's rather premature to start calling for impeachment now, because McConnell isn't going to allow the Senate to vote to to do it based solely on what we know right now. Speaker Pelosi can load up the Impeachment Cannon with all the Articles of Impeachment she can think of, but it's up to the Senate to actually fire it, and there's no guarantee that McConnell will even point it in the right direction.

5b. That doesn't mean that things won't change in the future to make it more likely.

5c. If impeachment happens too soon, the GOP will have time to regroup and nominate someone next year who won't be as easy to beat as El Presidente - but can still be easily controlled.

5d. If an impeachment attempt fails, you KNOW El Presidente's supporters (including a large part of the GOP) will be out for revenge. I don't know about you, but I do NOT want to go there....

6. There are still plenty of other investigations unrelated to the Russia Affair that are going to cause trouble for El Presidente and his family. Some of which are being done at the state level, so he has no influence over them.

Remember, the ultimate goal of those on the side of Law and Decency is to make sure that El Presidente and the GOP are so soundly thrashed next November that they are consigned to the rubbish heap of history. Anything that gets in the way of that - including premature impeachment - should be avoided at all costs.

Impeachment is fully under the House.  The Senate would vote on weather or not to remove a President.

McConnell will never allow a vote to be held.

Muller did his job. Barr from some indications half-assed his.

to 6. yes those other investigations should be continued, maybe even missing pieces for the mueller report comes up. But otherwise let the mueller report and the impeachment rest.

And that's why the congress should focus on deciding for new laws and whaterver. Laws that actually would help US citizens and have a better reputation world wide again ... GOP in congress and in senate will vote agains it and the president will fire against it, too.

Make this visible again and again and again.

Make visible how they don't care for US citizens and being respected for sounded decission world wide.

And then let the people decide to vote for a looser, for the traitors of the GOP congress and senate again ...

There's an option that the House Democrats ought to consider while some are screaming for impeachment.

Censure.

It's much more than just a formal reprimand, and they can word the resolution so that each and every one of El Presidente's offenses against decency gets mentioned. Sort of laying out all the possible Articles of Impeachment in one place (for easy reference).

And it only takes a simple majority to pass.
