Recent events regarding hacking
« on: April 24, 2009, 03:17:23 PM »
Dear BEA forum users,

Last week the BEA forum had some down time due to hacking attempts. The forum was restored (as well as order) by the system admin and programmers.

Despite all our efforts to patch the forum and prevent further hacks, the forum was hacked once again on April 23rd. This time it involved a user posing as a moderator in order to stir up trouble with other users. Be aware that if you received any requests by someone posing as the moderator "Palomine" to please report them to the other moderators or to Matt or me (use the link at the bottom of the forum).

We will do all possible to upgrade the forum and prevent any further hacking attempts. We want to preserve this wonderful community that has grown here over the years and won't let trolls ruin it for everyone.

Please post any issues you encounter in the site issues forum and not reply to this post.

Regards,
BEA Staff

Added by Palomine: thanks Gabe for this clarification and update. Despite the hacker posing as me recently and banning DJ (which has all been put right), I'll continue to be here and would only amend Gabe's notify mods suggestion to include me as well as the other mods if you see "me" posting something inexplicable or out of character so that I can be aware of what the fake Palomine is up to. As we've already asked, it's a good idea to let us know (via the pinned thread in Site Issues) if you see ANYthing strange posted by ANYone until this is all put to rest.

Thanks.

Kudos for all who did their utmost in restoring the BEA Forums!

I sure missed being able to upload my morphs to the forums and being able to post my comments in here!
When I get home this evening from work I will be doing what I usually do and be ready for a lot of morphs!  ;)

Even though lately I've been more of a lurker than a participant, I missed the forum.  A plague on the hacker.  Here's hoping that'll be the last of that.

Nice looking forum, BTW.

Nice to see it's working again. Will all the old photos be restored though? Real shame everything is down.

Hurrah, the forum is back up and running. One question though, I'm having issues with not being able to see a lot of the photos in threads? Can anyone suggest a solution to this? I browse the forum using Firefox if that piece of information is any use. Thank you! x
