I found this blog called "Better Book Titles" (I promise, this is the last post with it for now...I just shotgunned my way thru most of their archive) and found it highly amusing and wanted to share where appropriate.  Anyway, they posit new titles for books that presumably represent the book's contents more accurately.  Now this is one ("Mitt Romney: No Apology") is perhaps a bit belated, but I thought it'd be good for the thread:

Germany/Japan vs. USA - makes you wonder who really won WWII
Detroit vs. Atlanta - makes you wonder who really won the Civil War

Er...I'm missing the joke, I think.  What's to be mad about?  Is Miss America affiliated with the Pres (or vice versa) in some way the Repubs would hate?

The connection:

A non-white (well, not fully white) man gets into the White House...racist outbursts ensue (and have rarely stopped since 2008).

A non-white woman wins the Miss America pageant...racist outbursts ensue.

So, let's see: they're trying to get rid of food stamps, and kill off unions, and meanwhile the Congress is at near-all-time low approval ratings. Looks like it's time for a new show on the Disney Channel...

Ah, I was not aware of any of the garbage being spewed about Miss America.  I had only seen brief items the following day on local news shows that she won, was the 1st woman of Indian descent to get the crown, and it was NY's 2nd year in a row.  That was literally the only thing I'd heard being said of her all week, and it was obviously all positive.  Those Twitter reactions suck, and make me sad for the USA.   :'(

Yeah. The ironic thing is, while all these ignorant low-lifes spout nonsense on Twitter, she's a gorgeous young woman who will reign as Miss America for a year, meet great people, do exciting things, and when it's all said and done, will receive a $50,000 scholarship and go on to medical school. So, she wins! :)

Oh, and if you didn't see the anti-Miss America backlash, maybe you should avoid Twitter for a few days since a Japanese guy won America's Got Talent and an openly-gay guy won Big Brother too :)

Avoid Twitter?  I haven't ever used the blasted thing!   :P
For BB, I've heard lots of disparaging conversation, all of it to do with the horrible habits of most of the houseguests, not just the winner.  According to feed watchers, there was a noticeable amount of racism, misogyny, & bullying (possibly some homophobia too, but the others were far more abundant)...two of the contestants were fired from their jobs as a direct result of their comments (though they didn't find out about that while they were on the show), and a third got in some trouble that may end up costing him his job too, I think.  Virtually all the bad stuff (and there is quite a bit) I've read about the BB winner had nothing to do with his orientation, but rather his gameplay...he ratted out/doublecrossed/backstabbed every group that he pretended to ally with, preventing anyone from upsetting whatever the status quo was while simultaneously coming across as everyone's friend because he never got caught.  And there was some mention that he would pointlessly savagely badmouth certain evictees long after they'd left the house.  Anyway, the general consensus I've seen is that this season of BB was the worst in the show's history, but not once has anyone related it to the winner being gay.
In conclusion: Twitter is an awful thing, and the less attention paid to anything posted to it, the better.   ::)

Of of the opinion Internet anonymity breeds stupidity in some, with the mistaken belief they can get away with any hateful ignorance they choose to perpetrate.

Perhaps these persons may never be known; but if they continue in these acts, at some point it will in the end come back to bite them on the ass in ways they may have never seen, or imagined. :-\

Meanwhile:

The Republican Dictionary of Words and Phrases

AUTHENTIC - used to describe a candidate who is unaware of current events, doesn't read a newspaper and is proud of it

CLASS WARFARE - a technique by which teachers, nurses, firemen, etc. are believed to be oppressing derivatives traders and CEOs

ELITES: insufferable, over-educated snobs who are not real Americans and may be French unlike George W. Bush (Yale, Harvard) and Mitt Romney (Harvard MBA & JD)

EMPOWER - if an American worker loses his pension or Social Security, he is empowered

FREE-MARKET CAPITALISM - the economic system by which Halliburton gets sole-source, cost-plus government contracts

GLOBAL WARMING - a hoax perpetuated by a worldwide conspiracy of biased scientists. Fortunately it is being combatted by right-wing foundations, oil companies, televangelists, et al.

JOB CREATORS - the truly creative engines of economic growth such as hedge-fund billionaires, real-estate flippers, mortgage-backed securities bundlers, leveraged buyout specialists, etc.

LEVEL PLAYING FIELD - what every lobbyist wants in the spirit of fairness. The only way to achieve it is to bribe politicians to award a sole-source contract to his client

LIBERAL - a satanic idealogue who is at once a socialist leveler, an elitist defender of privilege, an atheist and a secret Muslim

PATRIOT - someone who loves America more than he loves the majority of the people living therein

PRO-LIFE - the unconditional support of the first nine months of a human being's existence. After that, the same human being has the unconditional right to be executed, sent off to war or die without health insurance

REAL AMERICANS - the minority of Americans who look, think and act exactly as I do

TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK - give us what we want right now, even if we don't know what that is

TEA PARTY -people covered by Medicare who hate socialized medicine and the black man POTUS

WASHINGTON SPENDING - the bad sort of spending that doesn't go towards earmarks for campaign contributors, subsidies to big oil or the military's half-trillion dollar budget
