Adama,

Quick question.  After a new episode is created, it shows the author at the bottom, if they opted to put their name in.
Is it possible for you to change it so that the author's name becomes a hyperlink which then links to all episodes written by that author?  I realize if it's misspelled, it will only link to the one.. but for the diligent authors it will allow others to see what they've done.

Just an idea.

Actually that sounds like an interesting Idea... but I think the problem with that is what Adama told me about the search thing... not everybody uses the same Sig everytime they sign if they even sign it... But it would be nice if our signatures could link to our episode history...

You can probably use HTML hyperlinking to accomplish this feat. For example, if I wanted to link to my author page when signing an episode, instead of signing it "Jack V", I'd sign it "<a href="http://www.bearchive.com/~addventure/game1/trees/auth/jackv.html">Jack V</a>" instead. Theoretically this would work, unless there's a restriction imposed on hyperlinking in the addventure.

From the old HTML class I took in college, I remember that most pages "lookup" their parameters from a style sheet that defines how things are shown.  If you make changes to the global style sheet, it make those changes across the whole board.
I'm talking out of my ass here, because I'm a website idiot, but I figured I would be a cool development, allowing each author to actually have a "home base" of sorts that contained their contributions.  You could even go so far as to populate the related notification email that was put in, so that others could email an author directly if they wished.

The hyperlinking JackV suggests would certainly work, it's been used before by some authors -- notably "Ki" who for a while put the link to his page in his sig on every episode.

While what Belle says about stylesheets is true for most websites, it's not true about the Addventure -- which was written back in 1995 and uses the most basic HTML pages possible.  (Partly to be as compatible with all browsers as it could.)

Yes, this feature has been requested once or twice before... I suppose the application could make a best-guess as to the author's identity, and convert that into a file name.  The basic conversion is to remove spaces and punctuation and lower-case it, but that's not always reliable -- especially for people who use multiple aliases that are consolidated onto one author page...

I'll make a note of it.  Since it took 2 years for me to have time to do the Comments feature, I'm not going to promise anything... Wink

Belle, hi.  If I understand correctly what you're asking for, it takes a couple extra clicks but the Addventure Index has been working just fine for all my "What else did he write?" needs.
