Today 6/5/12, I was walking down a stairwell inside the Luxor and, as I stepped down from the last step onto the floor, I mistepped and fell forward. I landed on both knees and reacted quickly enough to place my hands in front of my face which protected it from harm. Unfortunately, I broke my right leg fibula bone about 1 1/2 " above the ankle. At the time I thought I had a wicked twist of my right ankle but the X-ray at the clinic confirmed I had broken the bone. The Doctor call it a " displacement " which in plain english it means no hairline crack but a separation break. It doesn't hurt too much right now but at the time it was a real sonofabitch. Anyways, don't send flowers but cash would be appreciated.  Wink Grin

Solvegas, we know you're a tough enough bird to heal in a week, maybe two. But breaks are still a bitch. Best wishes.

Yeah you're a tough dude Solvegas.  I think I'd be screaming in pain.

Though if you had broken it off at the tibia, it might have presented the opportunity to get a gun leg.

You ain't kidding. Yesterday as I was getting my pain pills prescription this gorgeous MILF with her hot teenage daughter opened the door for me and escorted me to the counter to make sure I would not fall down. Since I'm not exactly Robert Redford in the looks department ( far from it ) it was nice that a hot stranger fussed over me even though it was fleeting. Perhaps I should break an arm ( the left one, I need my right to write )  Grin

In light of your last posting about the ladies, let me use that old theater saying to "Break a leg" in hopes of a positive outcome.  Roll Eyes Wink

Thanks a lot. I'll be seeing the orthopedist ( bone Doctor ) later today this morning and hopefully I will get some questions answered. I'm hoping it will be relatively easy but you never know. Anyways, wish me luck.  Smiley

Well, the Doctor said it was a clean break and the gap is quite small. In his opinion,IF it heals normally in the next couple of weeks, I may not need an operation to put a metal plate and screws to help it heal. I can actually walk ( well hobble ) on it and the pain is kinda like the type you get after you've been hit hard and afterwards the bruise is tender but not noticeble unless you touch or poke it. So I'm feeling better about it. I just don't want to spend months in rehab or light duty or anything like that. I'm 55, not 15, so I can't heal too quick anyways and being a diabetic sure is no help but the Doc sounded confident and that lifted my spirits. Perhaps he's bullshitting me but sometimes we all need to be deluded a little bit.  Wink Grin

Oh, your orthopedist was a guy? Too bad...I thought you'd luck out with a busty medical genius. Maybe next time?

Tomorrow morning I will be going to the doctor's office about my leg and hopefully it will be good news. This past monday I had a cataract removed from my right eye and it is amazing how much better I see. I had gotten used looking to a world with dull colors and the brightness and clarity is now awesome. Anyways, wish me luck.  Smiley

Yesterday, 7/19/12, the Doc told me my leg will need at least 4 - 6 weeks more to fully heal. It has been six weeks + already and to be honest I'm a little bummed out. I wish I was 18, not 55, and perhaps this freaking leg would be done healing. But when you are older and diabetic things just take longer.  Sad He said it's healing correctly but slowly. So I'll be wearing this boot cast a while longer  Cry even though I don't need to wear it when I sleep now  Smiley. When you get old don't break nuthin'  'cause it takes too long to fix.  Sad

Went to see the orthopedist yesterday and he said I was doing fine but I will need to wear the boot for another 4 weeks  Sad Angry. Damn ! The leg doesnt hurt and when I take off the boot I can walk pretty normal. I had two fractures on the same bone ( fibula ) and the smaller fracture has healed. It was approximayely 1 1/4 " long and it was about 1 1/2 " above where the fibula connects to the ankle. The other fracture is 3 7/8 " in length and it still is only half way healed. Being diabetic and 55 means the body heals slowly and if the doc is right it will take close to 14 - 15 weeks for me to fully recover  Sad . Sometimes I wish I was 18 .....  Sad

Saw the orthopedist on the 13th and he stated my leg ain't broken no more and returned to full duty at work on the 14th. Took over three months for the fibula bone to heal but is back to normal. My feet hurt now because I did not do much walking on those three months so I have to get them used to walk for my eight hour shift. Well, if it ain't one thing it's another. Anyways, I'm glad I don't have to wear that damn boot anymore.  Smiley
