"Dearest Mommie - I'm sorry, really sorry, to put you through this but there is no way to avoid it - I love you darling you have been the most wonderful mom ever And that applies to all our family. I love each and every one of them dearly - Everything goes to you - Look in the files and there is a will which decrees everything - Good bye, my angel - Pray for me - Your Baby"

--One of two suicide notes left by actress Carole Landis.  The other, which disappeared, was for Rex Harrison who she'd been having an affair with.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Landis was reportedly crushed when Harrison refused to divorce his wife for her; unable to cope any longer, she committed suicide in her Pacific Palisades home at 1465 Capri Drive by taking an overdose of Seconal.[20][21] Harrison was the last person to see her alive, having had dinner with Landis the night before she committed suicide.[22]

The next afternoon, Harrison and the maid discovered her on the bathroom floor. Harrison waited several hours before he called a doctor and the police.[23] According to some sources, Landis left two suicide notes, one for her mother and the second for Harrison who instructed his lawyers to destroy it.[24] During a coroner's inquest, Harrison denied knowing any motive for her suicide and told the coroner he did not know of the existence of a second suicide note.[25]

“Of course I know who you are. You're my girl. I love you."

--John Wayne.  There's conflicting reports on this: one site claims it was said to his daughter, but every other site states that he said it to his wife.  But the latter has no accompanying story to explain it.

...So I favor the daughter story:
Quote
He was fading fast and family and friends came to pay their respects. Wayne's last few days were spent in a hospital bed, fading from **62** to semi-consciousness. On June 11, 1979, with his several family members surrounding him, the Duke took his last breath. “Good bye, Dad", said his son, Patrick.

His daughter, Aissa, held his hand. As she held her father's hand, she asked him if her knew who she was. John Wayne, in response, spoke his final words: “Of course I know who you are. You're my girl. I love you."

“Now, that’s funny.”

--Doc Holliday.

Quote from: Debunking History: The Real Doc Holliday
As he lay dying, Holliday allegedly asked for a drink of whiskey. Amused, he looked at his bootless feet as he died—no one ever thought that he would die in bed, with his boots off. His last words were, “Now, that’s funny.”

"Beautiful."

--Timothy Leary

Quote from: Wikipedia
He died at 75 on May 31, 1996. His death was videotaped for posterity at his request, capturing his final words. According to his son Zachary, during his final moments, he clenched his fist and said, "Why?", and then unclenching his fist, he said, "Why not?". He uttered the phrase repeatedly, in different intonations, and died soon after. His last word, according to Zach, was "beautiful."

"Goodnight, my love."
"Goodnight, goodnight."

--Robin Williams' last words to his wife.

Quote from: People
"I was getting in bed and he came in the room a couple of times ... and he said, 'Goodnight, my love, ' " Susan, 51, said. "And then he came back again. He came out with his iPad and he looked like he had something to do. And that was like, 'I think he's getting better.' And then he said 'goodnight, goodnight.' That was the last."

"Thank you for our good times, Brian.  They will never rot."

--David Bowie's last words to Brian Eno.

Quote from: Brian Eno
I received an email from him seven days ago. It was as funny as always, and as surreal, looping through word games and allusions and all the usual stuff we did. It ended with this sentence: 'Thank you for our good times, Brian. they will never rot'. And it was signed 'Dawn'. I realise now he was saying goodbye.

David Cassidy’s last words were heartbreaking.

“Words cant express the solace our family’s received from all the love & support during this trying time. My father’s last words were ‘So much wasted time,'” Cassidy’s daughter, Arrow star Katie Cassidy, tweeted Friday. “This will be a daily reminder for me to share my gratitude with those I love as to never waste another minute….thank you.”
