What happened to the free side stories? No mention of them on the new site or forums.

Some content from the old BEA Home page(s) was not carried over because it didn't conform to the new format. You may have to specifically request the content you'd like to see restored.
Please refer to this thread...

...and in particular to this post...

Which sounds like they decided to convert the BEA into a Morphs site and nothing else (other than the Forum and Addventure)...
I don't remember what else there used to be on the main menu, but wasn't there more categories of things than Morphs and Stories? Didn't we have videos and games sections too?
Granted, I don't think any of them had been updated in years...

Right, there were webzines like R&D and BEhavior, text-only archives of expansion/fetish stories, and free and pay versions of A Cup Of Chili containing large collections of text stories, comics, manga, hentai, and morphs. That stuff didn't fit neatly into the pin/board paradigm, so it seems to have been "skipped over" during the conversion.
Mariano has said that users should list things they miss from the "old" BEA on the reddit page he set up at https://www.reddit.com/r/BEArchive/. I'm concerned that he'll gauge by the responses there whether to resurrect various features, and many users won't notice the one sentence that describes where to state their preferences.
(I'm also struggling to understand why he'd go to reddit for something we could more easily and intuitively do right here in our own forum.)

The easiest way to avoid letting others change things is by the ol' bait and switch. If you have fucked up and you get called on it but do not want to admit or actually change anything you did, you tell people, " Go here and I'll do something ", but make it difficult to get there. Since the BEA is NOT a necessity for survival, most won't work hard to make an effect and then the powers to be can say to themselves, " see, it's ok, they don't really care " and continue on their merry way. The BEA has been ruined. :'(

Why on God's green earth would they want to get rid of MarkT's and Chili's stories and the archive of R&D and BEhavior????? Way to erase the great legacy of the late great doggo :( :( :(

Uhmm... Didn't I point this out like way back in 2013?
Oh wait. I sure did. Right here:

Actually miss the chili stories... some of them were more fantasy/sci-fi with just a hint of adult themes.

You can still navigate to MarkT's archive: http://old.bearchive.com/~stories/ and Chili's archive: http://old.bearchive.com/~chili/ . You just have to know the URLs, since the BEA does not intend to make them available on the menus.

I don't understand this. It's trivially easy to add a Stories option to one of the dropdowns up top, have it point to a bunch of bare links to the old.bearchive.com spots, and just let us fap to words in peace while you host your new morphs site. Why burn a bunch of users like that?

You're protesting to the wrong people. Adama and the forum moderators didn't make these decisions. We don't have any control over what appears on the Home page, and we don't know why the site was reorganized.

I have added a pinned topic on the Plume (http://forum.bearchive.com/index.php?topic=9996763.msg10404778#msg10404778) with links to a bunch of story archives that I could identify. If any more turn up, they can get added to the topic.
