You probably haven't noticed, but I have been absent and here's why. My eyesight is failing. I have pronounced visual distortions in both eyes due to diabetic retinopathy.
I was in denial at first, but after a full examination I can't ignore it any longer. And so I think I'm officially retired from morphing.
Most of you know I'm a perfectionist, and with my vision impaired I simply am not capable of the meticulous detail I am prone to, and lame morphs just simply hold no interest to me.
If I blow up the font size I can still read so far, so I will check in to touch base.
Thanks to everyone who enjoyed my work and cheered me on.
You guys are the best. 8)

So sorry to hear about this. :'( I have a degenerative eye problem ( Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy ) which means I too will eventually have to bow out of here also. I wish you the best.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I'm reminded of the humorist James Thurber, who toward the end of his life had to draw cartoons in chalk on a blackboard, under harsh light. The images were then reversed -- changing black for white and vice versa -- for publication in The New Yorker.

Bob, I'm so sorry to hear this. I'll really miss seeing new morphs from you, but I hope you'll continue to hang out with us, because morphing isn't the only reason we appreciate your company.
I'm also gradually losing my vision due to corneal dystrophy. My left eye's sort of ok, but I've been seeing triple out of my right eye for a couple of years. I probably have about 5 years of semi-decent vision left, but then I'll probably be able to get corneal transplants.

Diabetes is such a total bitch, especially when one ignores it and lets it get the upper hand. >:(
I pray you don't ignore it and will do the utmost to manage it to help preserve your remaining vision for as long as possible.
And while we may miss your amazing morphs Bob do as gonZo said and keep stopping in to the forum, even if only to say "Hi." :)

I am sadden to see your post and your great work was also an inspiration to my own efforts at making the real really damn huge.
I too have diabetes type 2 and so far my vision is okay for now.
I hope that you will not suffer too much damage and take care.

Coincidentally, the same day you posted this, I read about an "audio-only" computer game called Blindside (http://www.blindsidegame.com/).
"You play as Case, an assistant professor who wakes up blind, to find his city destroyed and mysterious creatures devouring people. Will you and your girlfriend be able to find your way without sight? How will you escape? Run for your life, navigate the darkness, and uncover the mystery of the apocalypse--all in the dark!"
Other than an opening splash screen and a few menus, there are no graphics at all. It's all done through sound design.
I also read that there was one negative review. A fully-sighted player said it was "too scary"....

Hey, it worked for both Stevie Wonder & Ray Charles...
When I was a kid we used to play the game "if you could lose one of your senses, which one would it be?" and I would always rather lose the ability to walk than lose the ability to see. I still cannot imagine how I would cope. You're obviously doing a whole lot better than I ever could in those circumstances...

Since you won't be able to morph anymore you should think about writing up a how-to on it, to pass on your talents.

So I just got my laptop hooked up to my new 60" flatscreen and I can just barely see things without too much blurryness. Its hard and I am guessing a lot on the edges, but its fun to be morphing again.
So far I have had three shots monthly of Avastin, intraocular, to treat my retinopathy, they say it will take at least 4-6 shots to know if it is working. Shots into your eyeball is fucking scary, but I am getting used to it.

Yeah, it does sound scary, but if there's any chance it'll help do what your doctors recommend. :-\

Good news. My doctor examined my retinas and apparently they are responding to treatment. I can't really tell yet by looking but he showed me the images of the scan and the swelling in my left retina has for sure receded.
Man am I fucking relieved. :'(

Hey folks, So my intraocular injections are continuing, and they tell me me I am making slow progress, but I still am too scared to drive, and now that my boss knows about my eyes, he's not keen to let me behind the wheel, so money is real tight right now. I would never normally ask for this, and its a bit humiliating, but if anyone has enjoyed my work ever, I ask that you click the link and give me $5 bucks. Every little bit counts. It's not like I feel I deserve recompense for morphing, just consider it a donation to an old uncle who used to sneak you into strip clubs when you were a teen.
