So they picked Elon Musk as Person of the Year for 2021.

I wasn't paying attention to any of the pre-announcement discussion. And I haven't seen any post-announcement commentary.

Except for this, from Craig Calcaterra:

2021 has basically sucked in the most pathetic and tackiest of ways. Elon Musk sucks in the most pathetic and tackiest of ways. I think Time got this pretty much right.

No one has ever accused me of being an Elon Musk groupie, but if you ask me the interview that TIME Magazine did with this year's "honoree" was quite prickly - just this side of being a hit piece, in my opinion.

"Person of the Year (called Man of the Year or Woman of the Year until 1999) is an annual issue of the United States news magazine and website Time featuring a person, a group, an idea, or an object that "for better or for worse... has done the most to influence the events of the year."

It was either him or the perpetrators of the (just-barely-)failed putsch and insurrection on 1/6/21. I'll hold my nose and take the Dogefather.

Craig Calcaterra is a left-wing cultist who, on the political spectrum, resides somewhere to the left of Josef Stalin, his lack of objectivity is embarrassing. Given the hyper-partisan nature of the US right now, this is hardly surprising. Objectivity of both the left and the right is pretty much non-existent, you only have to look at US media to see that, or the US echo chambers as I like to call them.

I would have given it to Musk for those tweets to Elizabeth Warren 'Senator Karen'.

Yeah, for once they picked the right person.  I've been really impressed with him, especially as one of my supervisors at work is from the Ukraine, and his parents and sister were there when the shit went down.  So I've heard a lot more from someone with first hand knowledge.

Remember at the very beginning of the war how Putin claimed Ukraine and Ukrainians were part of the Russian family? Well, if this is the way Russians treat their family members, imagine how bad they treat those who are not. But it's not the first time Russians have treated Ukrainians badly. In 1932-1933, there was the Holodomor Genocide in which 4-5 million Ukrainians were purposely starved to death by Josef Stalin and the Soviet Communist Party since they didn't want to have their farms collectivized. Putin is a KGB colonel who Yeltsin unfortunately helped gain power and wishes to reconstruct the Russian/Soviet empire. The sanctions are starting to bite the Russian economy and even after the war ends, they should remain until Putin and his KGB pals get thrown out of power permanently.  Bunch of assholes.

Remember when this first started and every military expert got up on tv and said it would take about a week for Russia to take over control of the Ukraine.WRONG!!!
This is why I don’t take anything seriously that these talking military experts on the news predict what is going to happen.The Ukraine has exposed the great Russian bear to be more like Winnie the Pooh!
