Problem getting into this forum?
« on: June 18, 2001, 07:23:00 PM »
For the past few days I have been having a problem getting into this forum. Am I the only one?

The page will stall when I try to get in. I realize the webmaster is upgrading this forum and I appreciate that. I have patience. I just want to see if others are having a problem too. Thanx!

I've been seeing the same problem here.

MilkMan{at}BiggerBreasts.OrgI've been unable to login using my "original" account for over a week, but that's not the worst problem ...

... having sent over a dozen email "bug reports" to [email protected], guess how many I've received a reply to?

MilkMan{at}BiggerBreasts.OrgGOOD NEWS!  I finally received an email reply from [email protected]!

BAD BEWS!  Whoever wrote the email reply does not seem to be the "real" Webmaster

Oh well ... stay tuned for the next exciting episode of "As The BEA Turns"

I have yet to have a single problem in any of my browsers with this forum.

It seems that the Forum software insists on loading a new copy of each topic page to your system regardless of whether or not this page is in your system's cache. Add this little logic error to the illustrious service provided by the BEA's ISP and the *possibility* of having a page hang while loading now becomes a minor probability.

I deal with it by doing a Forced Quit on my browser, emptying my cache folder and coming back in. Nothing tedious, just irritating.

CC, as I recall, you're a Netscape man?  If so, try this:

  • Hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard.
  • Right click and select RELOAD.
  • Wait for the 'hung' page to begin reloading.
  • Release the SHIFT key on your keyboard.
AFAIK this feature isn't available in Mico$oft Exploder BICBW.

In addition to being a Nutscape man, my main Internet weapon is a Mac G4. You know, one of those computers for people who think differently? There is no Opt-Click on a one buttion mouse. Now the mouse on my PC has two buttons, but they're reversed so the procedure you're recommending would require a Lt-Click from that mouse.

The option you speak of is available on a Mac with a simple Shift-Click on the Reload button. Unfortunately, should one of these page loads hang Netscrape, the whole system is unresponsive until Nutscape clears his head.

How do I know this is happening as I've described? I'm monitoring my Web traffic in real time as this software dumps on my machine.

I don't support the Evil Empire even when they give the software away. They are, however, a great source of job security for those who are willing to put up with their garbage.

For about a week, I haven't been able to log onto the forum from my spare computer.  Every time I've tried, my password has been rejected.  But I can still do it from my main one.

MilkMan{at}BiggerBreasts.OrgNo surprise there, LB   , my "original" Member number (#125) stopped accepting my password 2 weeks ago *sigh*.

For future reference, everyone, please be sure to POST BUG REPORTS HERE, even if it's just a link back to another topic thread (such as this one).
