I'm presuming that your housing over there has Air Conditioning or climate control , to keep the inside temps down to some sort of sensible levels ??
Of course we have air conditioning here. In 1950, the Las Vegas valley only had a total of 50,000 people in the valley and 15,000 were members of Nellis Air Force base. There are now about 2.5 million people in the valley consisting of Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas. The casinos had air conditioning then, but housing didn't but by the mid 1950's, the company Carrier Air conditioning came out with a unit for homes that was affordable. Not only in this part of the country, but also the Southern states got the air conditioning benefit, and it is one reason this part of the country has grown much faster than the Northern states since many people don't like to shovel snow in the wintertime. Weather overall in the United States is much more extreme than Western Europe since the Gulfstream helps your part of the world weatherwise. After all, geographically speaking, London and Paris are closer to the North Pole than Chicago or New York City, but the Summers and Winters are much more moderate in your part of the world.
