I just saw the first episode of Cowboy Bebop on Netflix.  Based on the anime of the same name.  Violent, but a heck of a lot of fun.  Anyone else see it?  What did ya think?

Just a day or two ago I described a Netflix show in the Roberta Pedon thread.  But I don't want to be accused of cross-posting so you'll have to go read that post.  This may sound knit-picky, but I preferred the episodes in their original, BBC form -- they were more ominous and scary than Netflix' "tarted up" version with cropped aspect ratio, louder music, etc.

Almost always, yes. This is mainly because Americans "adapt" British TV shows that should have been left well alone because the original was perfect as it was. Big Brother, The Office, Life on Mars, TopGear, and on and on and on. There are a few exceptions where the American adaptation was superior to the British original (e.g. Sanford & Son, All In The Family) but those are very very few and far in between.

'The Boys' on Amazon Prime

Only watched 4 episodes so far, but it is bloody good! I've heard it strays into 'woke' territory in Season 2, and there are rumours that Season 3 will enter the murky realms of 'toxic masculinity'. Hopefully not, or if it does, it is done well and not the usual way of modern TV shows and have all the subtlety of being slapped in the face by a fish wrapped in a block of cement.

Someone recommended I check out Masaba Masaba. I thought it was going to be about the siege of the Israelite fortress by the Romans in 73 CE. It seems that I can't spell because it was the Siege of Masada (with a D).

Imagine my surprise when Masaba Masaba turned out to be a look into the only-slightly-fictionalized lives of Bollywood legend Neena Gupta and her daughter, fashion designer and socialite Masaba Gupta. The series touches on issues of mixed-race identity (Masaba's father was the west Indian cricketing legend Sir Vivian Richards), the price of fame, relationships after divorce, sexual liberation of Indian women, ageism in the entertainment world, and the mother-daughter bond, all while being very funny and very touching.

I don't bingewatch much, but this one I did. If you're in the States, you may need to use a VPN, or maybe you're lucky and they've started showing it on American Netflix. It's worth the watch. I would have put a link to the trailer but it features a young actress who plays Masaba when she was a non-adult.

On Shudder—30 years in the making.  Seems to be getting rave reviews.  Phil Tippett’s stop motion sure brings back memories.

Speaking of which, I hear there's going to be a Real Housewives of Dubai show, coming in June 2022. To be honest, if none of them are Emirati they're all gonna be wannabes too

I hear that Netflix has greenlit a Season 2 of the most popular TV show ever on the platform, South Korea's Squid Game.

On Shudder—30 years in the making.  Seems to be getting rave reviews.  Phil Tippett’s stop motion sure brings back memories.

Okay, finally got to watch this on Shudder last night.  Bizarre movie, which I had expected.  Awesome visuals and sound, but don’t look for a well developed plot here.  Felt more like stream of consciousness to me.  Best description is Nightmare Before Christmas meets David Lynch meets Terry Gilliam. 

Def worth a look see if you’re a horror and a stop motion fan.

Season 2 of Masaba Masaba is currently streaming. From all accounts it's as good as Season 1, if not better.
