
That’s the 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car. When you think of what cars on the street looked like in ‘55, you can appreciate just how forward thinking this concept was. It cost a quarter million to make back in the day which is nearly $3 million dollars in today’s money.
George Barris bought it in the early ‘60s and when they asked him to create a Batmobile for the 1960s series, he used the Futura as the starting point. I always thought he used the Futura for inspiration, but he apparently actually used the original car.
