I don't know what it's called or where it is, but it's a neat building!   :)

When I was a kid in Mexico City, the tallest building in all of Mexico was the Torre Latinoamericana opened in 1956 and it was inspired by the Empire state building. What made it unique in the world at the time was that it was the first tall building built with a foundation that also consisted of rollers because Mexico City is prone to bad earthquakes and in spite of several major earthquakes since, the building has been unscathed. It is in Downtown by Francisco Madero Avenue, named after a Mexican Revolution (1910-1921) hero and President. It has 42 floors, 166 meters or 545 feet in height and owned by an insurance company, La Latinoamericana S.A.  :)

Two structures which are the biggest of their type in the world and they are here in Las Vegas. On the right is the MSG (Madison Square Garden) Sphere, which is the largest sphere structure in the world at 110 meters or 366 feet in size with the largest LED external and internal screens in the world. On the left is the is the world's largest Ferris wheel, whose passenger carts carry about 50 people each and it is about 450 feet round located near the LINQ casino on the strip. An aerial nighttime view of a small part of the strip.  :)

A pretty neat abandoned house.  I have no idea why they built the pillared sections like that, but it's totally unique!   :)

Built in 1897 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the state of Tennessee and located in the Centennial Park in Nashville, this is a full size replica of the original in Athens, Greece, and it serves as an art museum. I've been there back in 1977 when I was on leave and I visited some relatives from my Mother's side of the family living there. The original was painted, and this is the color it presumably had per archeological research.  :)

Something for Thanksgiving.  Macy’s parade in 1934 at the corner of Broadway and 72nd Street.  The building in the center and at the right still stand today.

I wish it were possible for me to visit Manhattan, just to walk around and look at the cool older architecture that is left.

In 1973, the building which surpassed the Empire State building in height, was opened as the Sears Tower in Chicago at 110 floors and 1451 feet in height. Now known as the Willis Tower, the company which originally built it is pretty much gone. I remember when I used to go to Sears to buy stuff, but it's been years since I've been in one. There are none left in Vegas. I visited it when I was stationed at the Naval Training center in North Chicago back in 1976.   :)

Many years ago, when I was part of the Lions Club and my daughter was still in high school, she took part in a band program one weekend that was run by the Lions where they would get high schoolers from all over and have them play in a band for the Lions Convention (for NYS-Burmuda Lions Club region… weird paring, I know).  One year it was in Binghamton, NY, which today is a college town, but once upon a time (early 20th century?) was a bastion of industry.  One afternoon while the kids were practicing I went for a walk in the old central hub of the city—which today is mostly empty office space from a bygone era.  I stood in a park that looked purposely planned as where many stately avenues converged and looked at the amazing old buildings a dozen stories or more, and I tried to imagine it in its heyday with carriages and brass era cars or, perhaps cars from the ‘20s, filling the bustling streets.  All still standing today—empty—but in good condition with no one interested in the real estate.

Attached photo I scrounged up on the internet, but I was amazed at the size of some of the buildings—much taller than those shown—from a hundred years ago during a time of prosperity.  I guess whatever industry fueled the region dried up, eventually.

One Times Square.

How it looked when it was built in 1905

And, below, how it looked in 2021: an empty hulk for billboards except for retail on the ground floor.

What a shame.  As a wonderful looking, historic building, it should be restored to it's original condition.

A place I worked at for 21 years, The Luxor Hotel and Casino here in Sin City. It was part of a trio of huge properties near the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevard. To the north of the Luxor was the Excalibur Hotel and Casino with 4,000 rooms opened in 1989. the Luxor has 4400 rooms total, opened in 1993, the pyramid has 2500 rooms and in 1996, the west and east towers expansion was added with a total of 1900 rooms and then in 1997 the Mandalay Hotel and Casino opened with 4800 rooms total. In the 1990s a lot of properties were built which were all massive. It was the greatest building boom in Las Vegas history. Properties like the MGM Grand with 5,000 rooms, the Treasure Island with 3000 rooms, the Monte Carlo with 3600 rooms, The New York-New York with 2500 rooms, The Bellagio with 4,000 rooms and a few more.
