This photo brought back some good memories. Back in 2006, it was imploded by MGM Resorts in order to build the Aria hotel and casino. It was next door to the Monte Carlo hotel and casino, which is now called the Park hotel and casino after it was remodeled. When I worked at the Luxor at the time, I and several of my fellow Security guys would go there because it was THE cheapest place to eat, drink, rent, gamble on The Strip. It had good and cheap Hot Dogs for example. The properties that replaced it and are nearby now expensive.  :P

The Landmark hotel and casino was built by Howard Hughes in 1967 and demolished in 1995 to make way for the expansion of the Las Vegas convention center. There is a movie called Mars Attacks in which you can see it being demolished by the Martians in that movie.  :)

Originally called The Wilbur Clark Desert Inn, operated from April 24, 1950, until August 28, 2000, when it was demolished and construction of the Wynn hotel and casino started, this is what it looked like after it was remodeled in 1997 when Steve Wynn bought it in 1999 in order to build what is considered the best property of Las Vegas nowadays, the Wynn. It was a beautiful property with a great golf course which is still there and at that time, there were several golf courses on the Strip, but it is now the only one left. One of the mayor boulevards in Las Vegas is called the Desert Inn.

Another casino that disappeared back in 1988 when it was bought by the MGM Grand owner Kirk Kerkorian and demolished it to make room for the Gigantic MGM Grand which opened it in December of 1993. It was across from the recently demolished Tropicana hotel and casino on the northeast corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevard which is part of the South end of The Strip. The Marina had relatively cheap room rates and a inexpensive buffet and it was only1/2 mile away from the airport.

1923?  That's when it was brand new.  Very nice.   :)

I apologize in advance if I post duplicate pictures in any of the picture threads I deal in.  My MO in getting pictures of one girl is to rip her Instagram.  That ends up with me having up to 2000 pics of her.  I've tried almost half a dozen duplicate finder programs, and none of them find all of the duplicates I inevitably end up with.

The world's first multi-purpose domed stadium in the world, built from March 1963 until November 1964 and opened April 9, 1965, about 60 years ago, it was first used by the Houston Astros baseball team and later on the Houston Oilers. When I lived in Houston, the first time I went to was when I was invited to see a pre-season game between the Houston Oilers and the Chicago Bears, and I remember there was a fight by Dick Butkus against the Oilers. :o

Originally a non-casino hotel opened on the Las Vegas Strip in 1962 as the Tallyho, it was later redone in 1963, and a casino was added and renamed The Aladdin. In 2000, a huge new tower was added to the place. In 2003, it was sold and changed to the Planet Hollywood.

This is from 1989, when Bob Stupak had built this hotel and casino in the North end of The Strip at around 1984. Then in 1994, he started construction on the Stratosphere Tower which he added to the East side of it, right side on this postcard photo, and the Stratosphere is the tallest structure of Las Vegas when it opened in 1996. It remains the tallest structure. The place has been renamed The Strat a few years ago.

Purchased by multi-millionaire Robet P. McCulloch in 1968, London bridge, built in the 1830's over the river Thames, was dismantled and the original outside masonry was shipped to Lake Havasu, Arizona and the masonry was placed over a new structure since the original structure was literally falling apart in London. The bridge was finished and open on October 10, 1971, and I've been a crossed it a few times. There are London style souvenir shops near it. Lake Havasu was chosen since that part of the Colorado river is about the same wight as the Thames is.  :)

Founded in 1879 in Cochise County, Arizona, when silver was found nearby by prospector Ed Schieffelin in a spot he was told was where his Tombstone would be at since the environment was so hostile, it is where the gunfight near the OK Corral happened. I've been there since it is only about 350 miles from Las Vegas.  :)
