In the Blue Ridge Mountains near Ashville, North Carolina, the 250 room Biltmore Estate took six years to build from 1889 to 1895 and is based on French Rennaissance style. Yup, the USA has castles like Europe. Nowhere near as old, though.

Originally intended to replace the old Metropolitan Opera Center, The Rockerfeller Center was built by John D. Rockerfeller Jr from 1931 to 1939 and ended up being a huge office complex center consisting of 19 buildings and taking 22 acres of land in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. It is where the famous Radio City Music Hall is which has The Rockettes dance group and the NBC studios when it was part of the RCA corporation. This is the main Art Deco tower.

Built from 1631 to 1653, commissioned by Mughal empire Emperor Shah Jahan as a tomb and shrine for his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal when she died after giving birth to his 14th ch1ld from her, The Taj Mahal is one of the most famous and recognizable manmade structures in the world and it cost the equivalent of $35 Billion in today's money and it took 20,000 workers to build the entire complex. It is located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh in India.

The Verizon Building in 1930 & present day. It was one of the first art deco skyscrapers and was the headquarters to all the iterations of NY Telephone to NYNEX to Bell Atlantic to Verizon.  It was built next to what would become the World Trade Center and was severely damaged on 9/11, but was restored.

A building I've never been too but that I've heard about for a long time, initially opened in 1968 and its company is responsible for opening the MSG Sphere here in Vegas, Madison Square Garden, perhaps the most famous multi-purpose building in the world.

The Portland Flats residential hotel in Washington DC.  Unfortunately, they tore it down in 1962.

Located in El Paso County, near the city of Colorado Springs in the state of Colorado, at present part of the US Space Force and a part of NORAD, North American Aerospace Defense Command, the Cheyenne Mountain Complex was built from 1961 to 1966, it was designed to withstand nuclear weapons hits from the Soviet Union. In those days, the warheads were designed for 2-4 megatons because they were not very accurate and their accuracy was not very good, they would miss from 1 to 10 miles, so they had to be huge. Nowadays, since the missiles are much more accurate, the facility is not so impregnable. The facility is still in use by the US Space Force since it is still a secure site.

A building I've never been too but that I've heard about for a long time, initially opened in 1968 and its company is responsible for opening the MSG Sphere here in Vegas, Madison Square Garden, perhaps the most famous multi-purpose building in the world. 

Trust me, you’re not missing anything. This piece of crap looks like an oversized air conditioner, and it, along with the ugly glass box office building next to it—seen at left in your image—replaced the original Pennsylvania Station.  The destruction of this icon was responsible for New York’s architectural preservation laws.  Too bad you didn’t post a picture of The Sphere instead of this eyesore that laughs at glorious architecture of the past.

Below, the late great Pennsylvania Station in its heyday—7th Avenue facade.  When I was a teenager I came across a book about the original station.  I was shocked.  I had had no idea that the dump of a train station I used to enter New York City each day had once looked so incredibly glorious.  I immediately bought the book and, as I looked through its pages, was aghast that something so magnificent could be discarded like that.  They ripped the beautiful statues and pillars apart and literally dumped them in the Meadowlands of New Jersey.

Yeah, I totally agree with you, Shadowmuse.  That building can be compared favorably with many other architectural icons that are still around.  Just awesome looking.  I bet there's many New Yorkers who feel the same way you do about the situation.
