TheZookie007, What makes for a better promotion than to ask readers for there input. Makes you feel needed, wanted, etc. Granted it's a cheap ploy. Really all they want is your money. Hell,I cancelled month's ago. They still send it. Even tried to bill me. I sent the bill back with a nasty note. And the mag has still been coming for free now. I've been told this keeps up the circulation numbers. That looks good to investors.
As far as Miriam not getting chosen. My guess would be she was smart enough not to play there little mind games. That is she has much pride in herself. And that shows me she is a wonderful woman and deserves all our respect.
She should make one of them stolen home videos.

Well, be that as it may, I think that it's a bloody waste of time to try and do that. They should be ashamed of themselves, manipulating their subscribers (and others) in that way.

BTW, since you're getting Playboy for free, and you don't really want it...can I have your copies?

DTM, you're right on the money about why Playboy asks for votes.

However, Playmates don't make the decision *not* to be PMOY.  In fact, Miriam would like to have been PMOY (most if not all of them would); she told me herself at Glamourcon.  They don't see it as mind games; rather, they realize they will do better at Glamourcons as PMOY than as Playmates.  Plus they get a whole extra year of adulation (and exposure to *possible* acting/modeling jobs).  Plus the extra $100,000 and prizes.

But yes, Miriam is a wonderful woman and does deserve our respect, and does have pride in herself, I agree with you there wholeheartedly!

Debra -

Your comments about PMOY may be accurate, but I am not "throwing in the towel" yet. Personally, I do not think that Shanna Moakler is deserving other than that she can speak and has the experience in marketing herself (I.E. - Playboy), which means more potential $$$ for the Bunny Empire. (Strtictly Business!!!)

Regarding comments on Petra's web-chat, what would you expect MG to say? If they (PV or MG) let the "Cat out of the Bag" regarding who won, they would receive much heat from it. Therefore it might be only fitting to throw the fans a curveball?

How do you know that the PMOY was just shot? I am not not denying it, I would just like to know where you got this information? I just find it hard to believe that this would occur prior to the end of 2001. Speculation can run so rampant, that much of it is often perceived as the truth, when actually it is anything but that....

I did see the 2001 Playmate Review on the Playboy Channel and wanted to puke listening to most of these PMOM's talk. Many have these squeeky voices that sound so bad (IMHO). Miriam is in the minority in that she sounds as sensual as she looks. Being a bit reserved and shy may have her hurt chances if indeed she does not get the coveted award. (In addition to the HH issue) Even though I am a breast man, I do have this thing for Lauren Michelle Hill who has a special presence about her. Unfortunately, she too sounds like a little girl.  Too Bad!!

Jodi Ann Patterson and Brande Roderick hosted the 1 hour program. They can SPEAK!!! And they do it well!!! This has to be an important criterion for the PMOY selection.

I have read posts that say that Christa Nicole, Stephanie Heinrich, and Dalene Kurtis have the inside track. How would anyone know this for sure, other than knowing that SH now sleeps with HH and that would enhance her chances greatly? Brande Roderick used to **82** with Hef, but does anyone know if Jodi Ann Patterson ever did?

Hi bdr,

Insightful questions you asked.

Regarding what I would expect Miriam to say, there's really no reason for her to dissemble.  If she had in fact been picked for PMOY, she could have just said, "Gee, I don't know who got it, I guess we'll find out at the PMOY luncheon."  So I'm taking her at her word.  And *Petra* can let the cat out of the bag all she wants--she is no longer under contract to Playboy.

As for the PMOY video, consider this.  Miss December is shot in September at the latest, if not earlier--they don't necessarily shoot only one a month, and sometimes a Playmate's pictorial will sit around for a couple of months.  Other times it goes immediately into the next issue.

So there is plenty of time "before the end of 2001" for Hef and the editors to decide the PMOY, and to start shooting the PMOY video.  But the decision is always made by January, and sometimes earlier.  There's certainly nothing magical about the 12/31/01 date--that's just what Playboy wants you to think so you'll visit their site, and call their 900 #.

Like I said, I favored Miriam for PMOY as well.  But Hef's is the only vote that counts, and by now he's already made his decision.  And the best rumor we have (Miriam and Petra) says it's Shanna Moakler.

Debra -

The intent in my previous post was to substantiate fact from speculation. Based on your comments, it is still not substantiated who is the PMOY. The dialogue posted here about MG's comments were not directly from Miriam. They were 2nd hand, right? (Boy, am I sounding like an attorney here,(which I am not) or what? LOL!!

Don't you think that even though Petra is no longer under contract with PB, that she would show a bit of respect to the publication that made her what she is today?

I guess that I am still holding a glimmer of hope that MG may somehow get the crown she deserves. She has to be the overwhelming fan favorite. So many of the other candidates are out of the same mold and their votes would be split amongst the masses. Plus no one else is that exceptional except for Lauren Hill.

I am familiar with the lead times involved in shooting for PMOM's, which can even be 6 months prior to their feature.

Yes, I agree that there is nothing magical about the 12.31 cutoff, and that the decision has most likely been confirmed. Right now, this is all speculation, right? It would be a pity (IMO) if Shanna Moakler did get it. It would confirm that PB (Hef), would predicate his decision on which PM would bring more $$ to his empire. What looks better for publicity -A playmate that is dating Dennis Quaid, or one that is dating some "cute" kid named Aaron Van Wagner?

I give MG credit for not trying to be someone she is not!

I have not heard of Miriam having any success in landing any bit acting parts in advertisements, TV or otherwise, unlike some of the other more recent PM's. That is a bit disconcerting......

Are you a member of any of the Miriam Clubs on Yahoo? If not, I wish you would and share your comments there as well.

Any fan of Miriam is a fan of mine....

Have a Good Day!
bdr

Well goodness, of course it's not *substantiated*.  Not once did I say "Shanna Moakler is PMOY".  As I said, it's a rumor--but it's from a very good source.

However, it is fair to say that Miriam is not PMOY, sadly enough.  Considering that Petra was quoting Miriam directly (and that both of them are Playmates), that's a pretty safe conclusion.

As for Petra, she doesn't really owe anything to Playboy anymore, especially since they forced her to withdraw all copies of the video she produced, "Centerfold Fantasies" (on the grounds that they owned the trademark word "Centerfold").

There have been many fan favorites in the past that did not get named PMOY.  However, that is usually based *only* on their pictorial, and not how they come across in person--a quality that is important when the Playmate is representing the magazine for a year.

Miriam, as it happens, comes across very well--intelligent, articulate, great smile, and as you and I and many many others contend, would make an excellent PMOY.  However, by her own words (second hand or not), she didn't make it.

But hang in there.  I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Miriam--PMOY or not.

Who is with me? They can take many things away from us, but they cannot take away our FRRRRREEEEEEDOM!!!!!!! (crowd roars in approval)

The recent discussion about whether or not Miriam Gonzalez would be the next PMOY serves as the foundation for this new thread.

I came across this website run by someone who calls himself "The Autograph Collector". He reviews Glamourcon 27 which was held in early November 2001.

To be brief, this guy has no "love" for Miriam! Among his remarks about her: "she was one of the most disappointing guests at the show", "she was rude to everyone" and that "she lacks a real extroverted personality."

There is a small pic of Miriam G. as well "The Autograph Collector's" comments about some of the other models at the show.

Certianly this is just one man's opinion/account but it is unsettling nontheless. There really is no upside in disturbing or pissing off the people who attend these events!

I just get the feeling that once Miriam's association with Playboy is over she will probably end her modeling career.

I hope this link works: The Autograph Collector

---------- "I will be acquitted and vindicated when the truth is told." Michael Jackson before the trial------------
---------- "Justice was done. He was always innocent and we proved it." Thomas Mesereau after the trial-------

"She lacks a real extroverted personality"?  That's a problem for this guy??  The fact that she isn't running around yelling "Woooo!" like all the other models?  Christ, maybe that just means she's happy with who she is and doesn't demand attention all the time to prove her self-worth.  Dumbass.

I don't know what this guy was expecting either.  I attended this same convention. No she wasn't loud and boisterous, but when I spoke to Miriam while getting a couple items autographed, I found her to be very friendly and quite charming.

Miriam is a sweetheart, no doubt.  This guy was just ticked off because Miriam wasn't impressed by this big time autograph collector (ooooh) and because she declined to appear in his article.  He's a minority of one, and agreed, definitely a dumbass.
