Max, which MSTs? If it is bad Japan stuff, I'm guessing season 3. Sandy Frank? *sings his theme*

As for Alice, RX and I have had this discussion about Tim Burton many times. I would argue he hasn't done anything original or interesting since what... Nightmare Before Xmas? And even that was more Henry Selick's brainchild. He's seemingly becoming a parody of himself creating predictable Hot Topic versions of beloved children's stories. And while I really like that he's not just retelling the same tired Alice story (plus the fantastic cast: Alan "Effing" Rickman, Stephen Fry, Christopher Lee, Crispin Glover, and of course Johnny Depp in full-on Fop Mode), I can't help but feel he's just chasing his own tail trying to give people what they expect from him and not what he's capable of. This is the point where RX usually nods her head and says "shut up and watch the movie". So while I'm keeping an open mind for both movies, I have misgivings. Your results may vary. ;D

Shut up and watch the movie.  :P

I would agree that Burton's recent films were lackluster, "Big Fish" being the exception.

I apologize in advance if I post duplicate pictures in any of the picture threads I deal in.  My MO in getting pictures of one girl is to rip her Instagram.  That ends up with me having up to 2000 pics of her.  I've tried almost half a dozen duplicate finder programs, and none of them find all of the duplicates I inevitably end up with.

You forgot the riffing on all those different Sci-fi movie bits, especially The Matrix.   ;)
For some reason Don Frye, the ex-MMA fighter who plays Commander Gordon, really appealed to me.  I think he could have gone far in B movies, if he'd wanted to.
Also, I gotta love a flying space submarine with a drill for a nose.  So cheezy.   ;D

That wasn't quite my argument, but that's all right. Proof and I reached the agreement that Burton has worked himself into a corner. Look it's gothic Alice! It's gothy Charlie! It's gothy Sweeny Todd! Ooh and there are the Tim Burton signature trees with a Danny Elfman score!

He's gotten to the point where he's almost parodying himself. Strangely enough, despite the fact he's doing the same thing for different movies, I've yet to find one (Planet of the Apes aside) that wasn't especially bad. He's catering to a certain crowd, but what he is doing is working, even if it is repetitive. I predict Alice will be wonderful and fantastical, even if it is something we have seen 20 times already.

Also notty? YES ON BIG FISH. That movie is the exception to the dark gothic spin he puts on everything. That movie was one of my favorite movies of the decade.

I think Terminator 3 was way worse than Terminator Salvation, but hey, I can understand why not everyone would like Salvation any more than part 3.  Star Trek was the best sci-fi movie this year, in my humble opinion, considering I was a bit wary like many other people of rebooting the franchise over from scratch using new actors to depict the beloved original crew.

Just saw Avatar. The special effects are truly amazing,
Saw it last night.  I feel the same as you, re the story, same old shite.  It was so predictable.  All it needed was the evil guy with the British accent, and it would have been perfect.

Movie Review: The American
« Reply #42 on: September 11, 2010, 05:28:52 PM »
First, no spoilers.

Second, my reviews pretty much ignore plot, characters, and other debris. I review erotic content.

Okay, this movie is for grownups. It explores the emotional lives of professional killers. If you liked the George Smiley novels of John LeCarre', you will like this movie. Besides, it has some truly great photography of Italian mountain country.

One very brief shot of big boobs in a brothel George Clooney goes to visit.

Violante Placido. That's her name. She plays Clara, the prostitute Clooney gets involved with. Very cool, projects a LOT of erotic energy. A solid "C" cup, although during a dip in a cold river, her boobs seem to shrink. Guys know how that feels, Babe!

More a movie for old men. Lots of slow, easy, warm sex. Clooney knows what to do with those boobs. Really good presentation of cunnilingus (Actually showing cunnilingus would rate an "X", which is death to wide release. Americans, we are so backwards!)

By the way, two non-erotic points: The novel, Get The Big Picture, upon which the movie is based, was not used as the title in part to provide a running joke: Clooney is so achetypically American that, while he is trying to be completely inconspicuous, he is recognized as an American by everyone from prostitutes to store clerks to assassins. Second, it's not a spolier, but when in the first ninety seconds two Swedes try to kill Clooney, you know this isn't going to have a Sound of Music ending.

Someday, chi1dren, this entire fuck-up will be yours.

I would also add that Clooney is conspicuously loyal to the **33** Clara.  At one point he goes to the brothel and Clara's not there.  One girl is there with large black pasties on her otherwise bare breasts, and then an older more zaftig blonde comes down some stairs and offers herself.  From what I could see, she had nice big floppies bursting out of her dress, in Clooney's place I might have considered her for at least one session.

Good point, Druul. That was the very brief scene I mentioned with the big boobs. And you bring out a point I missed--Clooney's loyalty to Clara, because I would have gone with the blonde myself. It's a sin to make such a body **82** alone.
