) Naked Gun 33 1/3 is how I will always prefer to remember her -- I saw that movie several times on the big screen because of her. She was even a passable comedienne in it. That and her very own Playboy booklet probably marked her zenith, and I prefer to courteously overlook much else.
For a long time she simply never seemed healthy. Her voice usually sounded like it had to make a long hard crawl out of her brain and through her throat, no doubt indicative of being on something like twenty prescription drugs simultaneously. Sad to say, her death is not THAT shocking to me. Also, I'm curious -- if TrimSpa didn't work, what did? Anna was a perversely good spokeswoman precisely because it was hard to imagine her exerting herself for much of ANY reason, let alone slimming down.
I think she may yet have her final vengeance. Speculation abounds as to who fathered her little girl -- and I like to think she used the frozen sperm of her billionaire husband. It would be an appropriate capper to her wild life story, plus it would give her some strange vindication after all the bad blood she got from that family. And besides, she may grow up to be someone in her own right. You look at Law and Order SVU, you see Mariska Hargitay hard at work, and it takes some effort to recall that Jayne Mansfield was her mother. Some stories don't really end with death.
