Opinions needed (LONG!)
« on: August 31, 2003, 12:21:31 AM »
Hello!

Hi, I'm Cinnamon, I'm 21 years old and live in central California.  I am really wanting to get different opinions from people who know about actual details on breast implant surgery - such as implant type, placement (over or under the muscle), etc etc.  I am needing some opinions on my actual surgery.

First of all, I have wanted this surgery for YEARS now, and I mean years!!  I have just been taking my sweet time researching this procedure FULLY in detail, the many, many techniques involved in this surgery, different surgeons, what type of implant, implant size, implant placement, etc etc.  I have done so much research it is not even funny.  I have seen soooooo many women go into this surgery without doing any research first, and putting all their trust in the doctor and then end up being totally disatisfied with the results only to get a redo immediately after with another doctor.  I swore to myself that this would not happen to me, that I would thoroughly do my research FIRST before getting into this, and that I would know a lot about this surgery as well, not just put all my trust in the doctor.  You have to know what you want and really express that to the doc, you can't just rely on the doc to give you exactly what you want without making it perfectly clear first.  You can't even imagine how many doctors I've talked to, how many times I've been made fun of, been ridiculed and just been plain turned down flat by soooooooo many docs it's not even funny.  Like I said, I am very picky in what I want, I want my boobs a certain way, I don't just want huge boobs, I want them to be a certain shape, size, have a certain look and feel to them - I am PICKY!  No other way around it!  So I have seriously searched high and low for a surgeon who will work with *me* to give me what I want, not what they want to give me.  Not all doctors are willing to give you such an extremely fake, HUGE look....you can't even imagine how hard it's been for me trying to locate a freakin doc in CALIFORNIA who is willing to work with me!  And cali is supposedly the freakin boob capitol....ya right!!  I could tell you stories on how I've been treated and talked to by doctors and their staff *just because of the size and look that I want*!!!  If I got a freakin PENNY for every time I got laughed at, ridiculed, and downright disrespected from doctors and their office staff, I'd be living next door to Hugh Heffner!  No joke:o(!

I am looking to go really huge, I am into extremely huge sizes...but not all huge sizes will do for me.  I am VERY picky and anal when it comes to huge implants, the shape has to be right and they CANNOT be super saggy like down to the waist or anything.  I want my boobs extremely huge, VERY VERY round - very well defined, super tight, extremely firm, very fake looking AND feeling, and HUGE!!  I want the implant edges to be visible all the way around the boob, not just on the top.  I love it when the boobs look like overfilled beachballs - I think that is the definition of beautiful!!  I don't like it when the boobs have a gorgeous shape, but hang down to the floor.  I like it when they are perky, or at least somewhat perky.  My all-time favorite set of huge implants in this whole wide world are definitely the late Lolo Ferrari's.  Her boobs were so spectacular it's amazing they were even real.....well, you know what I mean!  They were soooooooo perky and up there, it looked as though her implants were full of air.  They had a gorgeous shape, look and NO sag!!  It was and still is absolutely astonishing and amazing how one human being's set of boobs were so damn perfect.  I totally *WISH* my boobs would look exactly like hers after my surgery - same look, shape, size and PERKINESS most importantly!!!  I'd freakin do anything to have boobs like Lolo's!!!

Anyway, I am 5'7 1/2", 150lbs, still need to go down to 140 (that is my normal wt), and a natural 38C.  My boobs are very soft and saggy now, and I have tons of extra, loose skin.  I talked to so many surgeons and so many of them told me I needed a full lift, and that is the only way I would get the results I wanted.  Because if I went with just implants alone with no lift, I would be left with bigger, even saggier boobs.  So I had it stuck in my head that I for sure needed a lift - even if I got huge implants.  Only a handful of doctors told me that I did not need a lift if I was going huge.

I just recently consulted with a surgeon in South Lake Tahoe, CA in late May, and he recommended 3000cc saline expanders, round, smooth, Trans-ax (underarm or armpit incision), no lift and under the muscle placement.  Now I am EXTREMELY confused about the unders/overs issue.  I am being told by some people to get unders and then others are telling me that unders are not possible with that size, only overs.  I too thought that once you entered in the huge sizes, overs is the only option, I did not know the muscles would stretch that much with under placement.  The biggest unders I've seen are that of Xxxena's which are 1000cc overfilled 1300cc saline unders.  I've never in all my life seen 3000cc unders, I didn't even know that was possible for that big of an implant to fit under the muscle.  But according to the doctor I consulted with, unders will work best for me in the long run.  Unders give more support than overs obviously.....but with huge implants, how much support can the muscles really give to that size of an implant?  I know that overs sag quicker than unders and they also ripple more.  But than again, if you are starting out with a lot of breast tissue - like me - rippling will not be a problem, even with overs, because of that extra breast tissue covering it.  And say you have huge unders, how much support can the muscles really give with that big of a size.....wouldn't they offer the same amount of support as overs - at that size?  But this doctor supposedly only does unders, he doesn't even do overs.  Also, according to the doctor, if you slowly stretch out the muscles (which is what I will be doing with the expanders), then huge implants will fit under.  But you have to do it slowly obviously, you can't just shove huge implants under the muscle and expect them to fit, you have to stretch out the muscles slowly in order to accomodate the large implants.

BUT, if implants that size will indeed fit under the muscle, will I be facing distortion, funky looking boobs or even a more natural look??  Will I be able to see the implant edges ALL the way around the boob - especially on top - not just on the sides.  Because unders tend to give the natural look with that funky slope on top, not the fake, rounded, scalloped edge that I oh so love and crave!  But according to the doc, I will get the exact results I desire with unders, because at that size, he says how can they possibly NOT look fake?  Also, by overfilling them tremendously (which we will be doing) the natural look is not even possible, even with unders - I will definitely have that super duper round, fake, well defined, 'overfilled beachball' look.  This is what the doctor says.  But I just don't know if I am convinced.  I suppose I'd feel a tad better if I saw or even better, talked to another person who had huge unders...i.e. over 1500cc!

So right now, I am just very confused on whether or not I should get overs or unders, lift or no lift.

Oh, and about the lift - the doctor says I do not need one because he says that we need all of the extra skin that I have.  According to him, all of the loose and extra skin I have now will be completely filled up and stretched out so much more when we start my expansion process, and because I'm going so huge, there is no need for a lift because all of the sag and slack I have now will be filled out and stretched out even more after.  He says my boobs will take on a whole different shape and they will look completely different once the expansion process begins because of how huge I'm going.  I suppose I understand all of that, but I still cannot help but be totally terrified of ending up with discovery channel boobs.  I want huge, round 'overfilled beachballish', fake, firm, tight, perky, Lolo boobs NOT saggy, tribal looking boobs:o)!!!!

I am so sorry this is SO dang long, I just thought it completely necessary to thoroughly explain my situation.  I would loooove to get your feedback, opinions or advice on my situation, as I am VERY open to all thoughts!!  I also thought this is a perfect place to get opinions as there are soooooo many huge boob lovers here - exactly what I need!!  I have tried so many other discussion forums, but there are so many conservative, close-minded individuals there who think 500cc is huge - it is just plain sickening.  All you have is a bunch of 350cc'ers over there, it gets a bit old.  So, if you want to share your thoughts, please feel free cuz I need opinions!!  Also, if you have any additional info on Lolo Ferrari or even better, her implants, that would be super AWESOME!!!

Thank you SO much for reading this novel first and foremost and for any and all opinions and/or info you'd like to give!  Thanks!!

Hi Cinnamon

Obviously I'm no expert but I look at a lot of fake boobs and read everything I can so here goes.  I'd go with overs primarily because you want the edge of the implant clearly visible.  Its weird that the doctor you have been talking to only does unders, from what I know it seems like overs would be a slightly simpler surgery.  If you got overs and they started to sag in a few years couldn't you get them lifted (or bigger.. heh)? Not that more surgery is ever prefferable of course.

As for the lift - as long as your nipples are pointing up in the end I don't see the need for lifting anything.  The more skin the better.

Hope this helps

Hi Cinnamon!

I was in the same position that you are in, and we share the refusal to "settle" in terms of quality.

A couple of good starting points, if you don't know about them already:

http://www.ctol.net/~dwhitham/breast.frame.1.html

Dawn Whitham is a competitive bodybuilder, and has a lot of good information from her experiences with under vs. over, as relating to excercise, and shares her experience with "oversized" implants like those that you pine for.

www.implantinfo.com is another excellent resource, and is sponsored by several board certified cosmetic surgeons, and provides links to implant manufacturer sites, and the doctors' own sites, where applicable.

Or, search for any of Melonie Charms' posts here...She seems to have her finger on the pulse of large-implantdom...

I find it hard to believe that doctors and their staff would ridicule a potential high-dollar cash customer...I saw several docs myself, until I chose the Super Doc that I have now.  Most of them were rejected because of either knee-jerk "Sure I can do that" replies, or the reply that "they'll look the way they look when I get done, and I dont' know exactly what that will be until I go in."  Others were rejected because they wouldn't have anything to do with silicone.

I went in with several photos of examples, and photo-manipulations of myself, saying, "THIS is how I want to look."

www.yestheyrefake.net

has quite a few women who've gone to around 1000cc.. just go to the 'miscellaneous' section, then the 'patient journals'.
For some reason, it will only show an up to date list of journals AFTER you select one, then click on the link to go back to the journal list at the bottom.. still a good site for anyone looking into BA or other surgeries

Okies. I checked that site and forum mentioned earlier. From what I saw most if not all the girls had/have off the shelf implants. So 750cc's at most.

Whilst the surgery procedures will be similar for you the reactions won't be. My estimate is that post 750cc you get into the extreme reaction zone. As in love them or hate them but with more vehemence.

Four quick reactions:

1. Love the T-shirt.

2. Though this is nice to see in the General Discussion, I hope you'll look around in the Real Life section, where you should find lot sof long thorough Melonie Charms posts.

3. My proverbial hat is off to you for wanting to become Empress Lolo the Second.  I'm crossing my fingers that you can do it in a safe and aesthetically pleasing way that won't cripple your finances.

4. Love the name, too.

I started out with overs, and was talked into switching to unders when I traded in my ancient 1500cc adjustables for 2500cc adjustables a few years back.  Initially the 2500cc unders looked great - however - the muscle covering layer did not like to co-operate when it came time to add more saline to the adjustable implants.  The pressure from the muscle layer covering the implants had the tendency to force the implants to go downward and outward as saline was added.  Eventually this thinned out the skin on the underside of my breasts and led to serious complications.  For my last two sets of implants I switched back to overs.

Regarding the issue of unders supposedly providing more support for large implants, I simply don't buy that it's true.  The covering muscle layer actually provides extra downward pressure since the muscles over the top portion of the implants are strongest, instead of providing upward support.  Also, my old under the muscle implants were a constant source of low grade pain - not pain of the 'damn that hurts' variety but just that nagging sort of 'hmmm that's a bit sore, must have overdone it' feeling which unfortunately never went away (until I switched back to overs).

From my own experience, overfilled saline implants with a textured bag surface placed over the muscle will provide all of the support you need, as long as you eventually overfill them to the point where the implant bag is fully expanded and can contribute some firmness of its own (the beach ball phenomenon!).  Perhaps when dealing with fixed sized implants (like silicones) it would make some sense to consider under the muscle placement, since the pocket and muscle covering can be tailored to fit the implants at the time of surgery.  But with adjustable implants, once you start to add saline there is no guarantee that the "strength" of the muscle covering is uniform enough to allow the implant to expand uniformly.  This was the reason that my 2500cc adjustable implants wanted to expand downward instead of outward.

On the subject of lifts, fuggedaboudit.  Every type of lift surgery involves completely cutting through nerves and blood vessels in order to remove breast tissue.  At best this leaves scars.  At worst this creates nerve deadness and circulatory problems for the breast skin.  My own 2 cents worth is to simply get big enough implants to completely stretch your breast skin tight again and forget about a lift!

As far as plastic surgeons go, 99% of them are set up to cater to housewives wanting small to medium sized implants.  99% of plastic surgeons are therefore extremely conservative in regard to procedures and implant sizes, and are more concerned with covering their own butts in malpractice suits than they are taking on the risks of a very large implant patient.  I'm not at all surprised that the majority of plastic surgeons' offices consider you somewhere between bizarre and freaky in your desire to get implants larger than catalog sizes.  I'm actually surprised that you were able to find a doctor on your own who would even discuss the subject of 3000cc implants, even if he does have a couple of 'wrong assumptions' about the side effects of under the muscle placement with adjustable implants which you plan on overfilling to 'beach ball' consistency.  Perhaps this doctor will listen to reason if you insist that you are committed to major expansion and overfilling, definitely prefer over the muscle placement, and are prepared to deal with any consequences which result from your choice.

Personally, I think that you will be much happier with overs, both with the round fake overfilled "beach ball" appearance you prefer and with a lessened chance of "bottoming out" your implants as they are progressively filled more and more.  After all, the three major "negatives" about over the muscle implants are a supposedly increased chance of capsular contraction due to scar tissue formation, folds in the implant bag showing through as ripples in the breast skin, and potential sagging.  But with bag type adjustable implants, if you do start to develop capsular contraction it's an easy matter to jam another 500cc into each implant to break up the scar tissue!  If you do have bag folds showing through causing ripples, it's a simple matter to jam in another 500cc to force the wrinkles out of the implant bags.  If you do start to sag, it's a simple matter to jam another 500cc into each implant to tighten everything up again !  Of course, you may wind up with implants even bigger, rounder and firmer than Lolo's in the process ...

Hi Jithero,

Thanks so much for your post, I really appreciate your advice.  I'm starting to think that overs will be the best option for me as well.  And I completely agree with you - I also think it is odd that the surgeon I am in contact with only does unders, as most huge implants are placed over.  So yes, that is really weird.

I suppose I just need to get other doctors' opinions instead of settling on this particular doctor, because unders sounds a little too iffy.

Thanks again:o)!!

Hi Zasha!

Thanks so much for your post, I really appreciate it!!  Thankfully I've already been on Dawn's site and Implantinfo as those are REALLY big, informational sites, so it took me forever to completely read over the content!  Thank you for the links though, those sites were very helpful for me.

As for Melonie, she just posted to me, so I will hop over and read her reply.  I agree, she is so well informed on large implants and breast augmentation in general, she is awesome!

And I couldn't agree with you more - it is absolutely amazing how so many so-called professionals would treat me the way they did.  But they were so dang conservative and stuck in their ways that hearing '3000cc' just totally overwhelmed them I suppose!  Not that I'm making excuses for them in any way because I'm not - their behavior was completely unacceptable and totally outrageous - but that is just the only reason I can come up with.  I never got the chance to decide against a doctor, I was always laughed out of the office!  Or they just downright refused to help me in the least bit because 'what I want is not normal' and I quote.  Nice people, huh?

Anyway, thanks so much for your post and info:o)!!

LOL!  Thank you so much for your post!!

1. Thanks, I love this top too!  I bought it online from a girl who used to make them and sell them for fun.

2. Did you move my thread?  If so, thank you!!  I am such a lame-o, I didn't even think to put it in this section, I thought everything went in the general section.  I'm such a dweeb!  I had no idea this folder was so informational, I have already picked up so much info already just from the one super huge Vixen thread alone!  Also, Melonie just posted to me thank god, so I will run over and read her wonderful advice for me!  She is soooo knowledgeable on breast implants.

3. Thank you so much for your kindness and your well wishes!  This forum is like a small piece of big boob heaven!  I never knew there were so many big boob lovers gathered all in one place, it's really awesome!!  I'm so used to negativity and big boob haters in the real life, it's nice to get away to positive, big boob lovers on the wonderful world wide web!

4. Thank you so much for your kindness, I really appreciate it!  My alias is Cinnamon Love, my real name is Antoinette, but I go by Cinnamon on the computer!
