Debra - Facts are really just opinions aren't they   and they might be similar to Statistics in that they can be misleading or mistaken.

The question about vision and hearing. More men read small print better and women hear better - how would they know this? A poll of Lenscrafter shops where they ask who buys
more reading glasses men or women?   and what about those who don't wear their glasses when they should and they pretend they can read the menu...

If women hear better than men is it because they actually can hear better or they refuse to wear a hearing aid for vanity's sake? And how many adults actually take a hearing test anyway? Is the sample credible or just a projection...?

The Father's Day collect call scenario seems probable as more Dads live without the [censored] post-divorce.

The 40% rate of medicine cabinet snoopers seems absurdly low. Like 4 out of 10 admit that they did, and another 4 snooped but didn't admit it. And what constitutes snooping? Seinfeld says it's NOT snooping IF the door to the medicine chest is already open. And beware of snooping in someone's medicine cabinet. You may not like what you find...

Holy crap!! This is truly a first.  A thread with disagreements in it, and no flames?!?!?!?  What does this say, we are all idiots for worthless facts, or just that boob talk makes us angrier?  Hey, there is trivia for later on "What day did the first thread appear at the BEA that contained disagreements, but no flame war?"

I am sure everybody is just having fun with this thing, but for the most part you can just ignore these lists of "facts" that are popular in emails or xeroxed sheets around the office. Looking for info on websites or getting lists of "facts" out of any book, hardly qualifies as research. Also, refuting a "fact" based on information from a different website is equally as valid (or invalid). My questions are:

Who starts these lists (or "news" stories, or jokes)?
What makes for a succesful chain email or xerox? Obviously not all of them make it, whereas some have been circulating for years.

More men are losing their hearing than woman do. I'll concur with that. the anvil in the inner ear is thicker and bigger on the man ear than a woman ear, as you get older there is more calcification in the inner ear and the hairs in the cochlear starts getting brittle( too bad we cant transplant the hair growing on the ear in the ear,as we get older ). The other factor that at least in the older population is that men have traditionally been working in enviorment that expose them to the louder noise,before protection to the ear was considered. There have been more people though from both sex that are getting hearing aid in the 40-50 age range, dued to exposure of rock music, from all those years going to rock concert.
