I met Ivy Doomkitty at BigWOW in San Jose on Saturday. She was in her Michael Myers getup, which I daresay is among her least sexy costumes, and I was still tongue-tied. I purchased some of her merch and talked to her for a few minutes. She was SO friendly and talkative. I was trying to walk away (there was kind of a line) and she just kept on engaging me in conversation. It was nice.

*sigh* I wish I had more self-confidence...  :-\

It amazes me what Wally Wood gave all the busty ladies out there when he first drew PG for DC Comics. ::)

Ric Estrada penciled All Star #58, in which Power Girl debuted. Wood just inked it, so nobody's sure how much influence he had on the costume design. It looks like a Wood costume, though.

Wood was having chronic health problems by then (he was undergoing slow renal failure, and he suffered a stroke the same year All Star #58 was published), and most of his ink jobs were done in a couple of days with several assistants (Roger Brand, Bhob Stewart, his ex-wife Tatjana, etc.) crowded into his house. Quality art produced at that speed was possible because Wood was so accomplished that he could draw finished art over loose layouts with a #2 watercolor brush. Stewart wrote an essay describing that period of Wood's career, but I can't locate it online at the moment.

Even (or especially) Wood's MAD work was sexy. Check out "Superduperman" and the Flash Gordon parody. It was awakened me to breasts when I was but a lad (in paperback reprints, not the originals). Incidentally, I met Bill Gaines once. Fascinating man.

I refer you to Sally Forth. Done with a lot of assistance, but it's his most uninhibited (least inhibited?) work. Wood was **94** heavily and frequently ill throughout this period, too, so most of the art isn't up to the standards he set at Mad, Tower, and Marvel.
