Not Good News, Folks
« on: January 28, 2004, 09:55:23 PM »
Hey everyone,

My wife's first consulation was a disaster. First off when she suggested her desired implant size he made a discouraging comment. Then he told her that his MAXIMUM implant size was about 400 cc's. Now, she SPECIFICALLY asked if they did 600 to 800 cc's and they said YES. This WAS not a free consultation. If they were more honest my wife and I would NEVER have gone to this doc. Then he mentioned that she needed a breast lift surgery seperately done first then the augmentation second since she wanted to
be a "larger" size (which to him is apparently somewhere in the 300-350 cc's size) and it would be too risky to do them together. Do the math, done seperately its about $10000, together probably about $5000-$5500. Now I didn't have a good feeling about this doc, I had the feeling he was on the conservative side but this guy blew away my expectations. I can understand why he conducts his business though, he does have his patients health in mind. Its funny, my wife brought a bunch of pictures of busty women to show him but thought she'd give the guy a coronary if he saw them,  especially after his discouraging comment about
large breasts. This guy is not a big boob lover! When we left we got a price for breast lift surgery only. Oh well, this may not happen after all. She will see an out-of-town doc next week who said that he will do what the patient WANTS. But she's a little depressed after this wretched consultation and she's thinking that big boobs may not be in the cards for her (we can't afford $10,000). We'll keep you posted.

That was not a really good news...
but i wouldn't give up on that just because of ONE doctor's oppinion! There are many doctors out there who would do a great job for a much reasonable price...
May I suggest you looking up the site  Rate my Implants. There you can see many pictures of succesful boob jobs and some information about the ladies who had them, including the price of the procedure... If I'm not mistakened, most opperations listed there are around US$2000 to US$4000. It won't hurt looking at that and researching some more... There's also  Breast Implant Info that was also listed on the other thread...
I'd say: don't give up because of ONE bad experience (specially since it was the first one) and keep on researching!
Good luck for both of you!

Thanks Highlander for the encouraging words. Yeah, you're right, its only one doc's opinion and we still have some fight left in us. Really, when my wife mentioned 800 cc's you could see this guy's eyes bugging out of his head. He said that there are more complications going with a larger size, then really didn't tell us what those complications are, then proceeded to tell my wife that she'd have a difficult time working out and picking up her [censored] with those size boobs! Plus you ONLY see women like that on TV! I mean it was like that doc was from some other planet, you could tell that he thought big boobs were "odd" ( a word he ACTUALLY used). His personal beliefs about asthetic feminine beauty didn't come close to matching my wife's or mine. So, to put it frankly, he's not the one but we do have another consultation next week and I've emailed other docs too. But we are financially limited and I don't know how common it is to find a gung-ho doc willing to do a lift and an 800 cc implant simultaneously. Bottomline, it will cost us $5000 MORE to have the surgeries done seperately. And for the time being, that's not feasible.

That's it!! The juggalo army is going to assemble and burn this doc to the mother f*cking ground. The guy was only interested in one thing, MONEY. He didn't give 2 sh*ts about your wife and what she wanted.

That was some bad news, I hope your wife doesn't got too discouraged by one assh*le doc. If Bams can get herself made bigger, then your wife has a chance too. Sh*t, if half the big chested women around here get their busts increased a lot, then your wife has more than a chance, she has a god damn guarentee.

I've heard good reports about the Tahoe clinic; many have said they do larger sizes (up to 800) and give good results.
They're not really local (Canada!) but if you wanna check things out....
they do have a website with free consults i believe...

Well, it sounded promising.  What it sounds like now is they have an office staff who will say most anything to at least squeeze an office consult out of you.  You can report them, BTW.  AMA branch, he's accredited so that society as well.  Plus, the Better Business bureau.  You can also call the office, explain that you were told that the doctor did a certain kind of implant, he stated that he did not, and you want the exam fee refunded or you will go to those various agencies.

There are surgeons out there who will give your wife what she wants, next time maybe she'll actually get one.

Sorry, that pretty much sucks.

If I were you I'd ask for my money back. You asked them if he did larger sized implants after all.

Extremely sorry to hear about your consultation. If you paid for the consultation with a credit card, I would dispute the charge if the doctor does not refund the charge after confronting him on the fact that you asked before the consultation if he did larger than 400cc implants. And then after you paid, told you in the consultation that 400cc was his max.
I understand the financial pressure that a consultation causes. My wife and I did not have the money to pay $400+ per consultation. So we did a lot of research and only paid for 1 consultation. We then got suckered into only 475cc implants when my wife wanted 600cc minimum. If the consultation was free, we would have kept looking and I am sure that the doctors bet on that. But both my wife and I were lead to believe that 400cc was the max that could be done for her on her first BA. When looking back, that may have been true, but it may have also been true that she could have gotten 600cc her first BA. So it's all very hard to decide. But after paying $400, we decided to go for the 475cc implants. Both of us figured that 475cc now was ok. It's now been 4.5 years and we are working on saving again for her 2nd BA of which she is hoping to go to 1000cc+, but we will need to talk to others and see if a jump from 475 to 1000cc is a realistic goal. I think she wants to be 1200cc, but I don't think 475cc to 1200cc in 1 jump is realistic. But we haven't talked to anyone yet, so. Anyways.... good luck. Sorry that you have to go through that pressure that paid-consultation causes.

I believe that they lured you in on false pretenses, thus can be sued as such.
The problem is proving this, since if you agreed to the apointment over the phone after you enquired, then you needed to have obtained a copy of the telephone conversation, otherwise it is simply their word against yours.
No matter, you guys are probably not the only ones, they have done this too. Probably because they do not believe you need such large implants first off, and probably because it is the easiest way for them to make money.
Sad but it is true. You need to do some research first before seeing these people.
Best policy is word of mouth, find someone who has got the implants you desire and ask them where they got them. Chances are, the clinic will continue to do the bigger implants you want.

Thanks for all the useful input and for the "big booby" rallying cry! Tracy hasn't given up yet and is more positive today than she was yesterday. I think she's disappointed because it looks like she will need a lift as well as an augmentation and the lift can be pretty invasive. I don't mind shelling out the extra grand and pay $6000 instead of $5000 if a doc could do both a lift and large augmentation SIMULTANEOUSLY. But this doc wanted to do it in stages at a total cost of $10,000. I just am not sure if she will find a doctor willing to do both of those things or willing to put much smaller implants instead of the larger ones cause she's having a lift done too.
Also, I went to a BA surgery website and emailed four seperate docs and ALL said that its very routine to do both a lift and augmentation simultaneously. That yes, its more challenging for the doc but that the implant size really determines how much loose skin she has left because he will be removing some of it in the lift. Does anyone think this is still feasible?

Thanks a bunch,

Dochuge

No way are we giving up the fight! In fact I just got off the phone with the "loan people" and we've been approved for some more money which will now cover both a lift and augmentation. They may go higher if she needs to do two seperate surgeries but the more I think about it, the more I think that the doc we saw just wasn't COMFORTABLE doing both simultaneously (its more challenging) and there are those docs that will be comfortable doing this. And this doc WAS NOT a big breast lover, which seems kind of ironic to me. But damn it, my wife is gonna have large breasts even if it kills me! So I guess the lesson to be learned is to be patient, don't give up hope, its only one doc's opinion and there are others out there. But for us, it will have to be an out-of-town guy.

Can she kill me too? Death by breast smothering sounds like fun.

Thanks D and J. I know that we were warned on this very board that we may run into an ultra-conservative doc who did not share our enthusiasm for large breasts and we nailed it the first time! We do respect his professional opinion and it makes us concerned that the next doc will also opt for two individual surgeries (and that is unfortunately out of our financial ballpark). Its not all doom and gloom, many docs DO perform lifts and augmentations together and I truly feel that the doc we saw felt overmatched with doing both together (he had only done FIVE Belini lifts in his entire career). So he wasn't the right doc, PERIOD. The doc she's seeing next has been doing breast surgery for over twenty years. As for having a negative opinion of larger implant sizes? He recently did an 800 cc operation and routinely does 600 cc's and above. So he doesn't have the personal hang-up about large breast size and he does have the experience she needs. Still makes you think twice if this guy is **86** to do the surgeries together. I guess we'll know a week from today.
