A question of size.....
« on: February 25, 2004, 12:35:09 AM »
I have a friend who wants to increase her already sizable D-cups to full DDD-cups. She was curious on how big in CC's the implant would be. Any help?

Unfortunately a lot of this depends on her overall size, especially bandsize and ribcage size. I find it very maddening as well, give different women 200 cc's, one will go up one cup size, one will go up two cup sizes. So every woman is different. I've heard as a general rule of thumb that it takes about 200-250 cc's to go up one cup size. In looking at the stats of a lot of women both pre and post BA, that seems about right. So I'd guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 to 500 cc's. I know a lot about this because my wife REALLY wants to go up THREE cup sizes and become a DDD herself. She's already a C and is currently looking at either 650 cc's or 800 cc's. She MIGHT be a DDD if she goes with the 650 cc implants, she will DEFINITELY be a DDD if she decides the 800 cc. But again, its disappointingly random. I would still think you're looking at anywhere from 400 to 500 cc's. Hope this helps.

My wife had implants and was a D.  Her volume was about 600 cc's (breast and implant).  The doc told her to go to a DD she would need an additional 180 cc's.  To go an additional cup size from DD I would guess your friend would need another 200-230 in addition to the 180.

I don't think it works that way.

A round implant with a diameter of 4 inches will have a volume  of 33 square inches. One that's twice the size, 8 inches, will have a volume of 268 square inches!

To double the size of a round implant you need 8 times the volume. Now implants aren't perfectly round, but you get the idea. The bigger you get, the amount of CCs you need to make a difference goes up a lot.

The best way for her to find out is to get a DDD bra and do the bag and rice trick. take the plastic bag and fill it with rice. Put her boobs and bags into the bra. When there's enough rice to fill out the bra, measure how much rice you've got.

I agree, the rice trick is a great idea. We've used stockings instead of baggies cause you can really make them nice and round that way. If she's going under the muscle you need to keep in mind to add about 20% to the final volume to get the desired outcome. So if she fits nicely in a DDD with 350 cc's, ask for 420 cc implants. Always add this 20% to the total. As Bill has said, you will end up being SMALLER postop if you don't take that into consideration. I still don't know if you need to add that % if going over the muscle.

Or you can go to ImplantInfo and check out the Images. I believe that in the galeries, you can choose the search for images with specific caracteristics, so you can search for an Inicial bra size of D and a final size fo DD or E and see the volumes that they used to acheive that.
But then again, the numbers may be different for your friend. But you can get an approximation.

The implantinfo is a very good site and the ladies on there are very helpful and friendly. However they have very few women that are above a DD in size on there. In looking at photos I can remember only two women who were an F or greater. So its a good resource but you won't find many really big women on there.
