Extremely Effective Ad vertising: eHarmony.com Ad.
« on: February 26, 2004, 11:24:16 AM »
So, theres this commercial on basic cable I've seen on A&E for this new dating service called eHarmony.com pretty bland and straight forward, until they show this testimonial from this blond with an awesome DD rack in a low cut black blouse giving her approval, no caps yet but get on the prowl !!!

Oh my God, that place sucks! If you know you're different than 'normal' don't sign up for it. I took like a 300 question personality test and wasted an hour of my time, so it could tell me I can't be matched with other people! It said 1 out of 5 people can't be match. If the MF'er told me that to begin, I wouldn't have gone through the trouble! I was so pissed, still am. That was one of those days you just want to burn something alive.

On topic, I don't know anything about the ad because every time it comes on I get ranting about how f*cked up the site is.

My dad took the whole personallity profile test too.  He's about as "normal" as they come.  He's one of the 20% too.  Makes me wonder what you have to be like to be part of the 80%.

HM: When the time is right, I curse in great excess.  Interestingly enough, in real life, the time is always right.

Bill: I agree with you.  I'd forgotten all about that website.  I took that personality test when they first got their site going, and I was HIGHLY offended by the message I got afterward.  Now I know I'm off the beaten path, but to tell someone, essentially, that 1 out of 5 people can't be matched with anyone out there, and that they're among them...what the fuck is that?  I took that test FOREVER ago.  Do you know I went to that site yesterday, and then remembered I'd taken it and logged in, and it STILL can't match me with anyone?  You gotta be fuckin kidding me.  Funny how they fail to mention any of that on the commercial, when I bet at least 50% of the people who go to that site get that same message, and that these people they brag about having set up together are of a VERY minor percentile, because it seems to me like nobody can get past the damn questionnaire.  That site's a crock-a-shit.

To be part of the 80%, you have to be a liar.

you know, i don't know ONE person in REAL LIFE who is in that 80%, and i know a LOT of people who do the whole internet personals thing.  I am beginning to think it's nothing but a sham.

and if i may make a "sour grapes" statement: there are probably no REALLY big-breasted women on there anyway.

I took the test and was initially frustrated with having no matches.  After a couple of days I did get some good matches and have actually been in contact with some of them.  So, in my opinion, the site is not a sham at all, it's just different from a match.com and sites like it.  Just my two cents.

Dude......no need to get bent outta shape.  No one's gotten caps, and some people had other stuff to say on the topic.  We've both seen many threads here go MUCH further off-topic.
