Re: death statistics in USA from BA or complications?
« Reply #15 on: May 06, 2004, 06:29:21 AM »
Technically speaking, something like 98% of all BA surgeries are more or less problem free from a medical standpoint, with maybe 2% resulting in some sort of complication.  Of that 2%, 80% of the complications are easily correctable.  Also the likelihood of complications when the BA surgery is done in a hospital O.R. is lower than if done in a doctor's private office surgery. As someone else posted, the odds of dying or of developing any sort of serious and permanent medical problems from a BA surgery are probably much more remote than the odds of getting hit by a car when crossing the street !

The first BA surgery may be a bit scary because of your fear of the unknown more than anything else.  Trust me, other than enduring some post-op pain, it's no big deal.  Remember that a BA surgery only involves skin and muscle, and does NOT involve opening up your chest/rib cage/abdomen the way most "conventional" surgeries would.

If/when you go back for bigger implants in the future, you'll probably remember your first surgery and laugh at yourself for worrying so much !

Actually, the biggest risk you probably will face comes from the fact that you have three young [censored] !  For your first week post-op you're going to have to fight the temptation to grab them, you're going to have to keep them from bumping into your new boobs, you're going to have to avoid reaching and lifting, etc.  A significant number of BA complications are actually caused by the patients themselves "overdoing it" between the time of their surgery and the time that the stitches are removed, causing stitches to pop, incisions to reopen, implants to shift position etc. Make sure you have plenty of help lined up in the kid department !

There ya go Tracy, reassurance from someone with at least as much real life experience with BA surgery as anyone.

Thanks Mel for being there for all of us with your good advice, just like you always are. It always seems like when we need someone to come through with good hard facts and advice you come to our aid. Kudos!

Still want the info?

http://www.washdiplomat.com/a6_05_04.html

It does give some total figures for all cosmetic surgeries, plus tips on improving your odds. Basically, make sure the doctor is certified and is doing it in a proper facility. Make sure you tell him *everything* about your medical history (including allergies & smoking/**94** habits).

But you've already done all that, so....relax!

See you after the operation!

How about we all stop talking about whats going to happen and just tell her some jokes to make her relax more?

What would be the first thing you think of if I said don't think of bunny rabbits? Of course your going to think of bunny rabbits. So by talking about this in any way shape or form, we're making her think about it and that is what continues to cause the worry.

So come on people, lets get this nice lady to relax

If your being put under for it, that's what I would worry about. Post-op, during the operation, and what not shouldn't be an issue. A good surgeon will know what they are doing. An anesthesiologist potentially holds your life in their hands.

Hey Tracy, is that pic in Dr Hydes avatar a pic of your surgeon?  THEN RUNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!  lol

And whatever you do, don't think about bunny's or all the men who are going to lust after you when your surgery is done.

What about Playboy bunnies? Can she think about looking like one?

So two guys are talking about stuff, and the subject of anniversary presents for their wives comes up. The first guy says, "Well, we've been married for a good while, so for our next anniversary I'm getting her a mink coat." The other guy says, "For our next anniversary, I'm getting my wife a pair of slippers and a vibrator." "That's it?" says the first guy. "Yeah," says the second. "If she doesn't like the slippers, she can go fuck herself."

If it reassures you: I had 4 major open heart-surgeries and I survived without complications. 3 of those open heart surgeries took place in the 1st week of my life, the fourth when I was 4 or 5 years old.
When it's touchable it's real.

I'm as subtle as a brick.

love the joke, keep em coming!
I agree, its really the anesthisa i have to worry about, but its being done at a really good hospital, and i've been under before, for my tubal, so i feel ok about it, logically, just nerves. Also, im really very healthy, so barring some freak thing, i know it will be ok...but im scared of the freak thing i guess...Thanks melonie, your post really helped me put things in perspective..only a few days left now, and the doc gave me some valium at the preop for the night before, so that should help..and the op is first thing in the am, so i wont have to stress out all day!

Never say that to me, my jokes are terrible but here goes...

Why do you never see one boob by itself?

They are cowards, they always travel in pairs!

Seeing as this is going to be my last post on this board for quite a while, let it be a word of wisdom.

"Things are only as bad as you make them out to be"

Things are going to be fine. It sounds like your going to be worked on by 100% professionals. But in case your still worried, think about it like this. As they put you under, you can still see your feet. When you wake up, all your going to see is your tits Good luck, I hope to be able to come on here and see the results. That's if my big tittied girlfriend will let me

Yeah, I'm disappearing from the internet for a while so I can spend some well deserved and needed bedtime with the love of my life. (The fact that she has a 36DD bra size is a bonus) But I'll return one day, she knows I post on here and has even been in a chat with Bambi.

As for calling me Screamie, go for it.

See ya long after your new boobies have been test driven,
Starscream
