This is a question about Outlook Express. When I download a large file,such as a mpeg,Outlook Express searches each one for hyperlinks. This causes a serious slow down in copying to a different folder. How can I turn of this dumbass search thing ? All I can find is how to make a hyperlink. Not how to get rid of the BS. What the f**k is a hyperlink good for anyways ? Microstroke wants $35 for each support question. They can stick that up there butts. Is there a better program for recieving emails and newsgroups ?   Thank you DTM

Yes, Outlook is a buggy, virus ridden piece of shit. Most viruses are written with it in mind, mostly to access the infamous Outlook address book so it can propogate itself to all your friends. Go for an indy browser like Netscape ( free and easily available ) to download mail and news etc. Its also a good browser as well, a lot more stable than Explorer. For downloading files use another seperate indy like Netvampire or Getright etc. ( most good ones handle broken downloads, multiple files at a time etc. )
Hope that is of some use, please flame me for hating microsoft products, I know you all love them ( especially Pacman  :-)
P.s, with netscape it is easy to change your IP address, use anonymous proxies, switch off cookies / java etc, unless you want a trail a mile wide through your computer and all the sites you have been to ! And no, I dont work for them....:-)
