Snippets I remember from childhood I keep in my mental lunchbox and take out to feel happily nostalgic:

Saturday morning cartoons: X-Men, Transformers, GI Joe, Thundercats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Super Mario, Mega Man

Blowing into NES cartridges, playing action figures in the sink filled up with water OR in the bath. Just today I found an old bag with what's left of my childhood plastic: A Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne figure, a knockoff GI Joe, James Bond with a retractable head, and a Gohan from Dragon Ball Z (I actually got that as a teenager working at Toys R Us)

Playing baseball in the church yard across from my house with the neighborhood kids. two trees represented first and second, third base was a water main access pipe sticking out of the ground and home was a patch of ground that never grew grass. EPIC and SERIOUS baseball games were played there. Play pretend Street Fighter and Ninja Turtles was also played there.

Bike races as the sun went down in the summer and the sweat on you got chilly as the air cooled into night. Hearing one of our moms yell "Tiiiiiiiiiiim" or "Aleeeeeeeeeeeex" from our respective houses, ushering us to come in for supper. Eating supper while watching The Wheel of Fortune with my parents and then settling in to watch Newhart or Golden Girls or Empty Nest. Going to bed dreaming of what cool stupid stuff to get into the next day. Super Soakers? A game of football? Stay in and play video games? I'll fashion myself a new "sword" from scrap wood. It'll ... be ... the best ... ever... zZzZzzZZzz....

Every generation is exactly the same, with two principle modifiers:

1) Each generation acts in accordance with its age bracket (that means yes, you WILL turn out like your parents and complain about the next generation that comes along because they don't act like you)

2) Each generation acts in accordance with the size of its population. Larger population groups tend to be dumber, greedier, and more full of themselves because there are more of them and they convince themselves that they are more important than they really are through self-reinforced rhetoric.

This is very true and has been reviewed and reported on numerous times usually by the current dominant generation attempting to "understand" the others, both younger and older and put them into context that they themselves can understand.

3) Each generation defines itself with events, jargon, expectations and emphasis particular to itself in order to establish uniqueness. Major watershed events roughly at 20 year intervals have always been used as justification for why they are the way they are.

4) In general, generations follow a pendulum effect with each successive clump of a population reacting in opposition to the previous in some manner. It is never exactly the same but every other generation tends to have aspects of each other. For example: "Greatest" and "Baby Boomers" and "Generation Y" (Millennial) vs. "Lost" and "Silent" (Lucky Few) and "Generation X" and "Generation Z".

Apropos of nothing, I just went on a google binge of the A&W "burger family." Hilarious giant statues and good memories . . . I'm hungry for a Papa Burger right now!

Oddly I recall the "family" from A&W being actual bears and not people.
There was the Mama, Papa and even the Baby burger - but that may have been only on the menu.
I do not think I have ever seen the human version statues.

Last time I actually ate food at an A&W was years and years ago somewhere in Wisconsin around about 1984.

I remember I had onion rings.

Does anyone remember Susan Dey of the TV show "The Partridge Family"? I didn`t watch it much but I had the hots for Ms. Dey. Ariel reminds me of her.

I remember her both from the Partridge Family and L.A. Law.

Ariel really does resemble her.
