Finally got (only) 1 page to download from there.

I must protest the professed and apparently very real Netscape unfriendlyness of the site.

I don't pay a BEA membership to be treated like that.

Pac - Just tried going to http://thanks.hooters.dk  and saw the bad news.

I hope you find another home - I know that I've poured some blood sweat and tears into stuff for thanks x3 and I'd hate to see it vanish.... can thanks x3 possibly have a home here at bearchive or somewhere else?

Anyone who wants to help me figure this netscape thing out, i would really appreciate it.

Issue 3 was released and worked in netscape, and then it stopped working like a month ago.

And not to be mean, but i'd like to point out that nobody is PAYING for Thanks.

We are now here at the BEA... thanks to IM for helping me get set up so quickly.

I just read that thread at hooters.  I would say that the "Webmaster" does not deserve to have the webzine there.  Those were some pretty cheap shots

(this makes it easy) (your real reason for quitting is that you cant handle the job),  come on!!!! what kind of bs is that??  Pac does a grreat job of updating the "land" but because he does not update the webzine as often the phrase "I was rather dissappointed by your lack of updates" has to be thrown in; I say it again WHAT AN ASS!!!!!!!!

Like I said in an earlier reply to someone concerning HDK.  Scotty is VERY defensive about his "baby" and does whatever he feels is needed to keep his conscience clear.

Pac, I'm glad to see that webzine wasn't deleted.

Personally, I don't use Netscape as my main browser.  The page has always worked for me.

To see if I had any thoughts that would help (doubtful considering my html skills), I  turned on Netscape 4.x (which I usually have a version installed even if I don't use it)-

That's really weird.  It's very strange to just get a blank page....  I can hardly write html by hand (I use GoLive for my own site), but I'd have to guess it would be related to the html header?

I've now tried the Mac IE 5 and the Mac Opera browser, which both work perfectly.  I also noticed that if you go here-

In Netscape, it works.

I have a strange opinion- It's just the first page.
http://bearchive.com/~pacman/zine/2001-05/  doesn't work in Netscape, but if you enter in the address of the next page (the contents page), that page works.

It must have something to do with either the coding of that single first page or it could even be the address of that page.  I noticed the page that works lists the full path (with the "contents.html" filename) but the other does not.  It might be why it doesn't work in NS, but it will in newer browsers.

Just a thought.

I didn't notice that Thanks x3 was not member only.

It just struck me a being deliberatly unfriendly.

I'm operating with an old computer, without the state of the art bells and whistles (and Internet Explorer). A 486, running under (gasp!) Windows 3.1.

Lightfoot, thanks for taking a look! So it does seem to be the first page.... and that means it may be an easier fix than I had originally though.

I'm going to see if I can have a few others take a look at it and hopefully this netscape problem can be fixed one and for all.

I just found it weird because the template was designed with netscape and mind. I obviously want as many people to read it as possible. When I said that Thank was unfriendly towards netscape, it was out of pure frustration.

Frog: It's a lot easier for me to throw an update in Pacland than to make the webzine. The webzine requires the donations of others, and if those donations don't come I hardly have anything to put out for the world to see. People can believe whatever they want about what I can handle and what I can't. That's their opinion and they are entitled to it.

But that doesn't mean that when people say things like that I am not hurt by it. After this August issue is released I am taking time off from it so that I can concentrate on my real life. I have a wedding that needs planning, I have family that I have to see. My niece and nephew are important to me and should see me more. I have to find a job that's going to help support me and my future wife and give us some stability.

Trust me, I can handle doing a little webzine. It's real-life that has got me in a twist.

I've spit out morph after morph for 2 solid years now. I update my BEA gallery more than most do. It's not a question of can I do anything, it's a question of do I have time to do it. And do I have time to put effort forth when people think lowly of the efforts I have already put in? Hell no I don't.

Some people need to remember that when you go through all those chips, wire's and chunks of plastic... there's still a human being at the other end.

Try putting all the <frameset> commands after the <body> tag; they're supposed to be part of the content, not metadata in the header. The farewell page is simple enough that there isn't much else that could be the problem.
