Lucid Dreams, AKA Do it yourself porn.
« on: May 22, 2002, 06:11:53 PM »
Several months ago, I read an article on

lucid dreaming. It's a ability that a person develops to

where they are aware of when they are dreaming and are able

to control the dreams itself. The article focused on this

artistic type who used the method to help his music

composing, but I think you all know what I intend to use it

for.

"Mrs. B's Story" by DDDave, starring me and a

somewhat expanded Raquel Welch. Or, some of JS's morphs

brought to warm, and appreciative, life. Since they're

dreams, the possibilities are (pardon the pun) enormous.

The problem is that I can't get the %$#*^%*&$

thing to work. I've been trying for months, and nothing.

I've had lucid dreams about other things.

School, work, Aikido.

In fact, I have this re-occuring

Aikido dream where everyone has their own hovercraft. You

see, one of the things that you try to do is keep your

posture. Most people when they move, even when they walk,

bend at the waist and sacrifice some of their balance.

Always bend at the knees, and move smoothly. With the

hovercraft, you have the symbolism of smooth, easy motion.

              But, I'm digressing.

We have over a thousand members, so I'm sure

that some of you are shrinks or dream therapists and that

you could give me a helpfull tip or two. Its a bit dificult

to ask about this face-to-face. They'd invaribly ask what I

was trying to envision, and that would open a whole new can

of worms.

Lucid Dreams

O pale piece of pig's ear, I have tried the lucid-dream bit myself. My main problem is that when I get too, er, enthused, I tend to wake up. I would recommend reciting something boring during an erotic lucid dream like baseball statistics (to get your mind off the busty naked women), but it seems counter to the reason you'd be having the lucid dream to begin with. I don't know what to tell you except keep at it--those lucid dreams are fantastic.

I actually had a regular, non-lucid dream about Petra Verkaik the other night, but all we did was talk. On a platonic level, however, it was still a great dream.

BTW, off topic, your text should wrap automatically, so you don't have to start new lines and space between your lines. Just a small formatting suggestion.

In a way it's kind of like being a director on a set. If a dream isn't going where you want, you stop the action, maybe back it up a bit, and tell it what tangent to take off in. I never really knew what the name for it was, but I've been doing it for years. It can be with any type of dream.

I've been doing it for years.  I'm not sure exactly how I do it, though... when I dream, I just have this tendency to realize I'm dreaming.  I'm dimly aware of the bed, feeling the fabric, etc.  BUT I'm also in the dream, feeling the sun and smelling the flowers.  From here, it's pretty easy to manipulate the dream.  The main thing is, DONT MANIPULATE IT DIRECTLY!  This will cause you to wake up, usually.  This means, dont "Make busty women appear".  DO it in a roundabout way.  I walk a few feet, and open a door that happens to lead to a room full of busty women.  This way, I never CHANGED anything... just took it in a different direction.  BE is easily acheived.... just pull a hose from behind you (dont ask where... it's just behind you) and use your imagination.

The main thing is to look for something in your dreams that youd recognize from being awake.  Ok, that didnt make much sense.  I just tend to realize that what I'm seeing cant be real... sometimes I dont, though.  It's hard... I can do it maybe 2-3 times a week.
On a stick.....

The biggest problem for me with lucid dreaming is that for some reason I never have a sense of touch when I dream. MAkes for some interesting events, but ruins a lot of the fun too.

Since we often acknowledge dreams as reality when dreaming, you have to practice when you're not dreaming.

For example, check every so often (once or twice a day?) that you're not dreaming. It will come naturally when you're dreaming and force you to acknowledge your state of reality.

The product of this work will be more frequent lucid dreaming.

It may sound a bit eccentric, but it works for me.

I've found that certain foods tend to cause lucid dreamstates (at least for me), and have done some uncontrolled research to see what works best.  Of course, YMMV.

Salmon & Mozzarella Cheese seem to be the most potent (that's salmon OR mozzarella - i've never tried both together), especially after a long "dry spell" will always cause extremely vivid lucid dreams, but tend toward the surreal/action-adventure genre.

Now that I've had a lot of practice with lucid dreaming, I can usually initiate it by simply taking a one-a-day multivitamin just before bed.  There's probably a trick to brain chemistry at work here that's giving me an assist, but I'm not a neurochemist.

To date, the "best breast" sequence involved Jenna Jameson, Britney Spears, and a coffee table. ;-)

Traditionally, it's kinda random. There is a way of cheating it, however. This has worked for me, and it might for you, but it's a little destructive on your normal life, and it goes as follows...

Get an alarm clock. If you already have one, get a new, cheap, one. Trust me on this.

Brace yourself with a drink or two, because what you are about to do goes against much of what you stand for, and if it doesn't, it should do, damnit.

*deep breath*

Deliberately, and with malice and forethought, set an alarm clock to wake you up at 2am.

See? That wasn't too difficult, was it?
Was it? Good, it should be. That was the difficult bit, after that it's just willpower.

For a while, go to bed at 10ish, so you are probably deeply, REM style, asleep by 2am when the alarm wakes you up. At that point you do the following:

Wake up.
Swear.
Aim a few choice words at the geek who told you to do this.
turn off the blasted noise.
Go back to **82** again.

After a while (Weeks, Months, the longer you do this for the better it works), and on a Saturday, take the alarm clock to a place of safety and apply an extremely large mallet to it. Smashing things that wake you up at 2am is immensely satisfying, and would be worth it even if it were not for the next bit.

Continue on your new **82** cycle, and around 2am your brain will start to think "Bollocks, I'm about to be woken up, better prepare" and you will probably go into a lucid dream state, which you is not - as your brain expects it to be - interrupted by the loud noise.

Use this time to fly, explore your psychological state, find a deeper meaning of life, or inflate the breasts of nice-looking females to incredible proportions at your whim.

'sup to you, really.

Actually i've always been able to control my dreams and i've suffered no supposed ill effects from it. Granted occasionally i have dreams i can't cotrol but about 95 percent of the time i can.

I think the point is that everyone -can- control their dreams, Vermillion, the problem is being -aware- that you can control the dream while inside it. But, from your post, I infer that that is what you meant, that you are aware 95% of the time.

(slight-to-moderate topic shift) While lucid dreams are extremely rare for me, I've always been curious about one particular fact that is apparently in all of my dreams. Extreme Strength. It doesn't always come up, but every time I remember my strength being an issue in a dream, it has always been very high. Talkin' Incredible Hulk high. It's not part of a lucid dream, I'm never actually aware that I'm way stronger than I should be, it seems perfectly natural...

It tends to happen to me without trying, I think this is due to my weird **82** schedule (sometimes I'll go to bed before 12, sometimes around 3, other times not till 5 or even 7).

I've heard people say that they mastered lucid dreaming but it just too a long time and a lot of practice.
