Captain, Vulcan women have racks - Fascinating
« on: September 26, 2001, 03:02:00 PM »
In the past, I've gotten the impression that Star Trek holds little interest for most members here.  If your in this group please excuse this waste of space, but it is on topic.  Tonight the latest entry in the Star Trek franchise  bust, er burst, onto the airways. A little more than halfway through the 2 hour pilot Sub-Commander T'Pol (Jolene Blalock?) displayed a great pair during a deconamination procedure in which smearing of some gel was used.  If you only liked the original series or you just want to see a great pair in a tight grey T applying gel all over herself and her colleague, check it out. Most UPN stations repeat new episodes on the weekend.

I dunno, I saw the show earlier tonight, I think that 'decontamination' scene was just a bit too orchestrated. T'Pol is obviously just going to be 'Enterprise's 7of9, only present in order to siphon the horny male teen crowd. If nothing else, you can always count on the greed of corporations.

I don't know, I thought that the asian woman Hoshi (sp?) was much more attractive.  She was smart, funny and cute

Thanks for the Maxim tip. One suggestion is to check out startrek.com for photos.  About 7 of 9 and using sex to sell - if TV shows didn't use busty or semi-busty women where would all those vidcaps come from.  All the morphers would have to work double time to inflate those flat chested waifs like Calista Flockhardt (sp?).

One complaint I've heard about Star Trek is most people can't relate to the scenarios.  Enterprise is set 150 years from now and farmcountry looks just about as it does now.  SanFran is easily recognised.  And instead of Stardates (which only Trekkers with graduate work in math and science can understand) Capt. Archer used the year 2151 in his log.
The most popular movie of the series was the 4th one which took place in San Francisco of the 80's.  Even though Enterprise won't be on Earth much there should be plenty for most viewers to relate too.

As a lover of the original series I have high hopes for this. One of the great things about the original which all the spinoffs lack was the all politicaly incorrect BABES abounding. Did you catch the scene in Enterprise where they go into a strip club? The chicks have tails are topless and are wearing only latex paint? Since the original series takes place in the future of this one maybe we can look forward to a change of fashion to the tight miniskirt uniform?

Hoping

PS
I also like the more humorous approach of Scott Bacula better than the pompous,  politicaly correct rigidity of the characters (and the generation that created them) of The Next Generation. And since I know that some who like the next generation are gonna flame this I'll go ahead and get the rest of my peeves about TNG off my chest.

Mind you, there were a some things I liked.
As story and concept ideas:
I didn't like from the very beginning the false promise of the badges having the communicator in them so we think they won't "Lose The Communicator". I didn't like jumpsuits or good looking babes with hideous face makeup or Shakespere or [censored] on the bridge or "Q" or borgs or trekers or "stretching" into warp or the new transporter or the new phaser AAAUUUGGG!!!

Actually, they cheated. They took the design for the Akira class starship and turned it upside-down. For non-trekkies, the Akira class was designed to fight the Borg threat, and thus won't be designed until well after NG ended.

BTW Mammeister, if that's T'Pol, she must have had implants put in since those pictures, or they cheated again and used a body double.

As for Samu and his hatred of anything non-OS, well, that's your opinion. You're entitled to it just like those who liked NG are entitled to theirs. By the by, 'losing the communicator' was a cheap excuse for tension in the OS, the jumpsuits didn't last beyond the second season of NG, the face makeup was far more tawdry in OS, Shakespeare's an ST tradition for a long time including OS I believe, Wesley is/was already widely hated all around, Q was only really in about half a dozen episodes, if you liked the OS so much you -are- a trekker, and the rest is simply the evolution of special effects old is simply old and new is simply new neither is good or bad on just that merit.

Samu, I have to partially agree with you. TNG was special only because it marked the return  of Roddenberry's creation.  It lacked that special "magic" of TOS.  Even though the first episode featured the magical Q it was just lacking.  It wasn't there for DS9, and it was supposed to be the metaphysical soul of the franchise.  Voyager turned out to have something special, but it took 3 seasons to develop it.  Actually, the producers had openly discussed doing Enterprise first.  When they decided on Voyager I was sorely disappointed.  Star Trek has been a staple for me since that warm fall of 1966.  Once again it inspires as well as entertains.

Actually about women of Star Trek TNG through Voyager.  I recall there being some interview of a female guest star or cast member of TNG on Conan O'Brien and she stated that many of the women's uniforms included bust padding (which made the woman being interviewed a C cup).
