The MVP will be announced later this week. Rollins has a good shot at it.

I hope he gets it.  No other player in the NL worked harder to help his team, from day one right down to the end.  He also put up some pretty crazy stats in the process.

Kinda sucks that A-Rod is going to get the AL MVP. Do you think he'll show up for the presentation? He "had another commitment" and wasn't able to accept the Hank Aaron Award from Mr. Aaron himself...

No idea...But even if he does, what makes me sickest is that I still don't think it will stop some idiotic team from paying him what Bor-ass wants.  Seems taking on a salary albatross that is a bad teammate is okay as long as he hits well.  But he had 2 good and 2 rather poor seasons with the Skanks and despite their bottomless pocketbook, still didn't win....But of course anyone looking to sign him will only expect seasons like 2007.  *rolls eyes*   So that's why I think he'll get the money, but he'll also sink the team that signs him.

I think A-Rod actual does deserve to be AL MVP, even though his team didn't make it to the big show this year.

Speaking of A-Rod, he looks like he's done a classic end-run around his money-grubbing agent and is thisclose to brokering a deal to remain in pinstripes and earn $275 mil over the next ten years. Good for him.

Oh, Barry Bongs (sic) has been indicted for perjuring himself over his steroid abuse. Good for him.

I bet the Rangers are happy about A-Rod's contract. They don't have to pay him anymore!

And although an indictment is not a conviction, it's not looking good for Junk Bonds....

On to more pleasant things.

Congratulations to Rookies of the Year Dustin Pedroia and Ryan Braun. Looks like Boston and Milwaukee will be contenders for quite some time! And to Managers of the Year Eric Wedge (Cleveland) and Bob Melvin (Arizona), and Cy Young Award Winners C.C. Sabathia and Jake Peavy.

I'm good with the latest rumors on the Skankees' contract for Pay-Rod.  It locks them up for far longer, and for a lot more.  They weren't a championship-level team with him, and now they're paying more for him, for a 36 year old catcher, and likely for a 38 year old closer.  Before they even address their needs with starting pitching, and after losing the best manager their team ever knew.

$15 mil a year for 3 years for 38 year old Mariano Rivera.

Also, Pay-Rod won his 3rd MVP -- deserved it, certainly.

Jroll got the NL MVP....  Yes.

Rivera signed his huge 3 year contract (Yay, given that I hate the Skankees).

Mike Lowell also re-uped to the BoSox....I don't wish them ill will, but my team seemed to forget all about David Bell when trying to entice Lowell, so I'm glad we won't have that albatross around our necks.

We're almost a week into it, but no one revived the last post we had about it so I'm offering this up to all fans......I'll reply in turn.

The Mets could be the only team that could lose their #2 starter for most of the season (hopefully not) and STILL have a better staff than anyone in the NL East, and STILL be favored to win the National League title.

Mainly because their #3 and #4 starters could be better than almost everybody else's #2 and #3!

Not to mention the potential Cy Young winner at #1!

Now if they just hit a little.

Well, we're four days into the season and the Mariners have been statistically eliminated from the playoffs.

It's too early to tell.

The Cubbies are looking good! They have a real chance at the playoffs this year.

In all, it should be another great season. There's just so much balance these days, almost every team can reasonably hope to make the playoffs.

I'm going to root for Pittsburgh to finish with a winning record.

Common and good argument.  Maine was roughed up 2 days ago.  Glavine pitched well tonight but your pen coughed it up.  Check Glavine's performance per month last year and he was sub 3.00 in April and was far above in all but one month the rest of the way.  I like it.

I also like that we won on Pat Burrell's 2 homers BEFORE he went to play the Mets at home.  Pat Burrell vs. the Mets is like a termite against a balsa wood castle.

So our division is wide open now, but I look to offer some leadership in the next 3 days.

Should be interesting to see how the Tigers can respond to a 0 - 7 start.  And likewise with the Royals and their 6 - 1 start.

Damn Tigers! They stole the Mariners usual glory in being the first team swept. Seattle can't even get swept right!

Tigers seem to think it's 2003.

Phils rolled over in the 1st against the Cubs but recovered and won solidly.  Myers gets his first win, Lidge his 2nd save.  Carlos "overrated" Zambrano lost his first.
